- Mego did a really good job when it came to creating the toys for Disney's The Black Hole and I feel they need a better way to be displayed in my collection to show them off to their fullest. So today my plan is to build a custom diorama display based on the bridge of the USS Cygnus out of some sheets of styrene and a few stickers. I have a rough plan so let's just see what I can make.

Dave said the magic words...
"Custom Stickers!"
I’m so happy to see the love for this film growing. The simple elegance of the piece is what really makes it work. It still allows the figures to be the highlight of the diorama. Excellent work, Dave!
Thank you so much!
Loving these custom playset/dioramas, Dave! Keep them coming!
Never thought of doing a diorama until this video. Using them to display the action figures is genius
That looks AMAZING! (I always say that but it always does!) The new disguises look even better against the right backdrop.
Those stickers are unbelievably good. Looks like a product from the shelves in 1980. Still learning something every time I see you Photoshop! Thanks!!
Glad you like them!
It's one of my all-time favourite films from childhood! And this diorama display is inspired!
The stickers are just right, Dave. Subdued color with just enough cheerful vibrance to capture that playset look of the early '80s! A great idea with a nice execution throughout. Bravo!
Thanks again!
Yes Yes YES!!! Love these projects! The Black Hole is one of my favourite films, I just don’t have the figures! Well done TP!!!
Who needs Blue Peter and Tony Hart when you have Dave and Toy Polloi! Nice to see some Black Hole love. Mego 4 inch properties don't get enough attention. FYI - for anyone that cares - I think the Diamond Select Black Hole figures came with a backdrop base which is somewhat similar to what Dave made here - only not as good as his!
I love the movie. Great job on the diorama. Even in well ventilated areas, nothing like paint fumes ha ha.
Ha! Nice work sneaking the punch into the sticker design
😁
Absolutely loved and was terrified by this movie as a child!
Wow. Awesome built. It must be cool to have all the freedom to create what you want. And the stickers bring the diorama to life.keep up the good work.
A genius relatively small build that packs a huge display punch! 👍 A great way to help bring the figures to life. 👏 Really lovely piece of work.
Glad you like it!
I had a load of these figures as a kid, think i got them off my cousin.
This is great.
Simple but effective.
Two diorama builds! Dave!, it’s not even Christmas yet! Thank you. Great work as always!
Enjoy! I'm already working on plans for another.
Love this , a gi Joe one would be cool,
Well done! The Cygnus is a beautiful ship. You really nailed the feel of the main bridge.
Thanks 👍
Very good work, Dave. That looks amazing! 👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Wonderful diorama it really looks great with all the figures together. 10/10
Thanks a lot!
That's very cool,amazing job 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Another fantastic diorama! Another great video!
Thanks again!
Funny story, I had the Vincent and Maximillion figures when the movie came out. I was about 3 or 4. For years I never realised that Vincent's head came up and you could see his eyes. I did wonder what the little tabs were for though.
Yeah, not so gifted as a child lol
Bravo!!! That is amazing!!
Wow this does look really cool. I do love these DYI projects you been doing like this and the Jabba Palace video you done. I do wonder if it possible you could make a Sarlacc Pit doing something like this since we never got one in the original line. There was a Battle at the Sarlacc Pit that came with a Striff could be a good starting point if you did make one.
Another fantastic display diorama.
Fantastic Dave
I love this!!! So clever. And as amazing as the figures are, seeing them in an environment really makes them so much cooler.
Glad you like them!
How cool! 💯👍🙏
Fantastic work on the stickers!
Thanks a bunch!
A fantastic build, Dave. I enjoyed this video.
Glad to hear it!
Wow. That really makes a fantastic environment for the figures. I'd maybe use a little Tamiya filler here and there to refine a few edges, but otherwise it looks great. I absolutely love the stickers. They really nail the look of the Cygnus.
that looks fantastic, love it!
Thanks so much!
WOW!!! Great job!!!
Thank you!!
Fantastic. Love it.
Hey Dave
Excellent diorama!
Take care😊
Thanks 👍
I was actually searching for a black hole backdrop for my figures recently so this one is spot on for me, great creation and I will put the stickers to good use 😎👍
Awesome build!!!
Thanks!
Great job, colorful backdrops, just like in the movie. Like the alternative Maximillian stand and the Centurions, those must be repro’s 🙃
You can see all about the humanoids here: th-cam.com/video/1UcpOwwXvuY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=J7YW9lefTwzRFuYQ
Love this!
Great job as always Dave. You too can now recreate the nightmarish scene of Anthony Hopkins being minced by Maximiilian...lol! That scene haunted me for years...moreso than 'Psycho'.
fantastic
Awesome work Dave! Seeing your dioramas has me inspired with some ideas of my own. Yesterday I picked up a circular tiered pantry organiser that I thought would be good for something. Now I know it’s a prime candidate for a mini Death Star playset
Can you spot the "easter egg" Toy Polloi logo on the upper computer panels? I can. :)
Thats the channel logo thats on the screen 😅
Took a minute but got it very well spotted!
Awesome 😎
Hello Dave what a fantastic diorama 👌 but i do think you have should have put hand Rouse on the second level . Your computer screens really good i hope you are going to do some more 👏👍
Ralph
I'm inspired to ine day attempt similar muself,....one day!!!!
Fantastic build, was hoping you would put the Toy Polloi logo on there. Love the Black hole i have the card set, again Fantastic work.
Thanks. It's in there. I try to hide it in all the projects I work on 🤔
If by chance you’re passing the Clic Sargent shop, new items in the cabinet this afternoon
Three Hasbro Takomi Transformers, Ace from the A Team, and another rock lord.
Ohh. I will try and get over this weekend!
@@toypolloi that should have been Takara and Face. 🙂
Perhaps do a styrene version of the 1982/1983 Cobra Missile Station for Cobra Convergence, to replace the cardboard version that was made back then.
Hey Dave. FYI Just a fun fact. Miniature gamers who build models for table top games and dioramas, ie Warrhammer 40k, call that sewing mesh "Granny Grating" lol. Keep up the good work. -Sam Squamch
That is awesome!
💪😎 Great job
Thanks ✌
I always wanted those robot figures, but unfortunately, I never actually saw them in the stores. :(
Well there's a very Charles Rene mackintosh design if I ever saw one
Looks fantastic. I just wanted to say, I`m not sure if you got your name from the old saying 'Hoi polloi' meaning 'the many' or 'the masses, but it doesn`t fit, because you are One of a kind, Sir 😉. Thanks for the video, take care
Hoi Polloi = they many. Toy Polloi = many toys 🤩😎
Hey great video, what make/model is your printer? The stickers are brilliant cheers
Currently I have a Canon G7050 which is working out really nicely for printing stickers.
You ever plan to mess about with 3d printing?
I get asked that often, so I made a video on my second channel.

Are you going to release the templates for these dioramas on your website?
There is no template. I start with a very rough idea and then just make it up as I go. That is the fun of things like this. Have a go yourself.
Never seen the movie but as a kid I remember there were these horrible, cheap chocolate bars with Black Hole branding from the movie on them that my parents used to buy for me. Never cared to see the movie after that.
Really cool synthwave music at 3:40 sounds a bit like Mike Purple❤ while i DO like it, i prefer it in my youtube playlist instead of at your videos. Prefer ASMR and you talking. Just my opinion though 😅 keep up the good work!
One thing I know is that I can never please everyone. So I just make videos I would watch and listen to. It's all I can do. Cheers
Fantastic work!
Thank you! Cheers!
