Just picked my new 2021 Sorento last week! These videos have been sooooo helpful in getting to know my new ride! Thanks so much Peter for taking the time to do these videos. It's very much appreciated.
Hi guys thanks for some great tips there! I purchased a sportage yesterday. How do I raise and lower the lights without needing the high beam on for the distance? Thank you :)
Yes I have a question my wife leave the head light on Auto will that brun out my battery when the car is off.because I am now seeing the dash bord very dim
My 2016 Kia Optima SXL Turbo High Beam Assist is malfunctioning. When I am driving sometimes at night with the high beam assist on, it cuts off all my headlights and I have to immediately push my headlight lever forward to turn my regular headlights back on. This is dangerous!! After paying my dealership $200 for a diagnostic they couldn`t(or wouldn't) tell me anything why my regular headlights also turned off by itself even if the auto high beam assist malfunctioned. But yet they told me that I needed to replaced the front camera for $2,200 out of my pocket which they could not guarantee this will correct my regular lights turning off by themselves at night will correct the "Check AEB' and "Check LSWD" and "Check High Beam Assist" warning icons from showing on the dashboard upon starting the engine. I told the Service Advisor that I really don't need the High Beam or Lane Assist accessories so was there a way that I could just disable them so it won't infer with my regular headlights at night and he replied with a NO!! If this is the case then I think this is a Kia Motors manufacturing defect which they should correct at their cost if my regular headlights functions are affected by this High Beam Assist Option on the headlights lever. Can you or anyone help me with this matter? And by the way< the additional Gold Series Warranty by Fidelity that their Sales Manager told me would coverage any problems in the electrical/electronics up to 10 years/100K mile that I financed an additional $2600 for with my auto loan was a complete lie to increase their profit. This sorry ass Kia Extended Warranty through Fidelity did not cover this problem, nor does it cover/replace catalytic converters as I asked if they should ever go bad in 10 years.
On my car, they’re not lit, they’re on the bottom of my mirror. I’m not sure how to get them to light. Perhaps on some cars they aren’t backlit? I don’t remember right now.
The LXS is an American model, and I don't have exact specs for that car. If you turn on your headlights to the AUTO setting and then push the headlight stalk away from you, you should see it display a green light with AUTO for the headlights. If it shows the BLUE light, you don't have it. The important thing to remember is that your headlight switch has to be at the AUTO position and not the full ON position. If you set it all the way to ON, then your high beams will work as a normal high beam system. I hope that helps. If it doesn't, a quick call to your dealer should confirm if you have it or not.
the dang things are hard to figure out when you're used to hearing it click back when turning on the high beams in most cars, one can break these switches you know!
The manual confused me so much on this, I thought the Auto position was for highbeams, so after I thought I was driving around with highbeams on, distracting people, I started driving with the whole thing set to off - I stupidly thought that the lights were on automatically for some reason, but those were DRL. So I went like 2 months driving with no lights on. So my understanding: Auto is basically On, period. There's no "regular" setting, you just have Auto, which will adjust your highbeams accordingly. Also, when leaving it to Auto, I guess the lights turn themselves off automatically when turning off the car.
I'm not sure that I follow everything that you're saying. I do plan to make another video about this soon. If you set the headlights to AUTO, when you turn on your highbeams, they will ALSO be set to automatic, which means that the high beams may not activate immediately if proper conditions aren't met. Most people who I see, (including me) drive with the headlights set to AUTO at all times. The headlights will turn off once the car is off (occasionally they'll stay on for a few seconds as a way to light your path) but that's the simplest setting for most people.
@@BrantfordKia Oh then you just clarified it for me. What I thought initially was that the Auto setting _was_ the highbeam setting (I thought setting it to Auto was me turning on the highbeam). So that's why I stopped using it. I understand now, Auto = lights on (and you can still use the highbeam with this setting). Believe me, the manual (for Seltos) is super confusing on this point.
Great point. I left them on because that's the most typical scenario. Most people who are on a road where they want the high beams to activate are looking for the maximum amount of light on the road. I don't think many people will drive with their auto high beams on but then go down to just the headlights when they could have the foglights on as well.

OMGosh thank you! Had my Seltos for 2 years w/ my lights in auto mode and had no idea how work the high beams, thank you!
Nice Kia class today Peter. It’s hard to figure this out from the owner’s manual, thanks for your hard work.
Thanks for your kind words!
You can also turn the auto high beams off by pushing fwd to get into regular high beams and the pulling towards you.
Keep these great videos coming Peter!
Thanks for your kind words. It's very encouraging to know that these are being watched.

How do I get the garage door buttons illuminate when it is dark?

Does my 2021 forte LXS have it? I can see the symbol using a flashlight on my dash
But it doesn’t work

It's a bit confusing because you have the "fog" lights on as well....... !!

LOL i wish i knew about this feature while i was driving to ottawa in my kia sorento rental in the complete darkness there haha
Yeah! This is one of those super helpful features that some Kia owners may not even know about. It works really well!
Just like in the Soul
Yes! If my memory is correct, all of our vehicles with LED headlights have this feature.
@@BrantfordKia Not on my Seltos.... ??
@@united2557 Doea your Seltos have LED headlights? If it does, it should have this system.
@@BrantfordKia that's correct! Only works on vehicles with LEDs headlights
