A fantastically simple and fun platformer that nicely reflects all of the fun stuff of its license. It's absolutely worth a couple hours of your time if you like platformers.
My oldest son proudly remembers watching The Flintstones in reruns on TBS, WGN America, TNT, Cartoon Network, USA Network's Cartoon Express and Boomerang. Just last year, we ordered the 3rd season of The Flintstones on DVD from Amazon. That show was awesome back in the day, and so were all the other Hanna-Barbera favorites, and to this day, some Hanna-Barbera material still appears on Boomerang.
4:46 A few weeks ago I was at a mall and I heard the music from the underwater level and I recognized it, I began looking around trying to find who was playing this game because it's awesome to hear that people nowadays still play this game and made me feel nostalgic since I also had this game when I was little, and then I finally found where the music was coming from and... it was being played on the speaker of a random bootleg claw machine game. 🤔 I'm stil not sure why the heck it had this very specific music
Well, the contrast between this game and the Sega Master System version is really quite stark. The SMS version should be avoided like the plague it is.
imagine there is a huge chasm right at your street and you need to jump wooden platform after platform which are attached to two giant dinosaur birds’ legs to go your job.
NES ones were pretty damned good, the SNES one, not the movie based one, was pretty damned good too. This Genesis one seems like a run of the mill platformer, but it didn't stand out in a sea of other platformers. The dithering used underwater just looks atrocious on modern TV's, since the Genesis was incapable of doing transparencies. The one thing most of the Flintstones games share in common, only the first NES one is still decently priced, the rest will either take a bite out of your wallet, or in Surprise at Dinosaur's Peak's case, your entire wallet, and you as well.
Why is this game so similar to so many others?? The ending boss scene looks a lot like Castle of Illusion final boss scene, including the witch. The spikes that come down reminds me of the Mario castle levels' spikes. The train boss is so much like the boss from Star Light Zone from Sonic 1.
in the spi-off The New Fred and Barney Show, thre is an episode in which Fred and Barney end up with a broken wheel in the middle of a haunted forest while on their way to a bowling alley, and find the nearest house possible to call for help, unaware that the "kindly old lady" living there is a man-eating witch.
Good game overall, I'd say it's solid it for what it is, even if the backgrounds/soundtrack could perhaps be better. Very similar to the NES games as well, all things considered.
The NES ones were developed by Natsume if memory serves me right, wouldn't be surprised if Natsume did this one as well. Yeah, Taito is the one who released the Flintstones games, except the crappy movie based ones, and the Jetson's games, but I believe all were worked on by Natsume.
GRAND DAD!!!!! FLEENTSTONEZ?!?! AWWWWW, GRAND DAD!!!!! GRAND DAD?!?! WHAT THE FUCK?! _GRAND DAD?!?!?!? _*_GRAND DAD!!!!!! WHAT THE SHIT!!!!!!_* Grand Dad! He's.... the grandest of dads!
Hidden areas that could just as easily be bottomless pits, with no way to tell the difference but to dive into them? Swimming stages studded with more spikes than a punk rocker's jacket? Forced scrolling stages where falling behind is instant death? This game was made by Yabba-Dabba-Douchebags™.

The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones was a nice crossover, too...
Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm grew up SO fast though...
...and so did fellow Hanna-Barbera creations Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, The Jetsons and Scooby-Doo, among others.
Is it me or is the mountains background of the first level are the same as Spring Yard Zone from Sonic 1?
Yoshi had a few guest "egg roles", in this game at the end. XD.
7 GRAND DAD 2 looks amazing
Cute game! Neat to watch and the music is fun. I get the feeling i could of played this, eating a cheese slice and just had a good relaxing time.
Yep the game is so fun. You should play it.

Congrats great playthrough
Thanks :)
@2:01 And some people say The Flintstones never jumped the shark...
That whole sequence actually looks like a ton of hectic fun to play!
Technically not true.
A Flintstone jumped the shark, not 2.
Gran juego aunque me ubiera gustado que fuera mas largo.
Nostalgia.. 😢

Exacly. I was playing this today for 30 min and i was się bored. Copy of mario
Wasn't there a NES version?
Not the same game, but yeah, the NES had 2 Flinstones platformers. So did the Game Boy. And the SNES.
Oh okay
Since when was there a witch in the Flintstones?

70TH GRANDER DAD
Is this the only Flintstones game that shows Fred driving his car?
I think the Game Boy game had some driving sections as well, but this one could be the only 16-bit one, yeah.

All this is, is Mario
My god the sound of sega ...
GEMS ruins everything. Don't know why the SNES version has much better music. At least the gameplay looks good.
Actually, the Genesis/Mega Drive sound chip can make good music when used right.
@@NotaPizzaGRL This game wasn't composed with GEMS
@@NotaPizzaGRL Made by Japanese developers, who avoided the GEMS sound driver like the plague. So no, likely a custom driver.
