    You do realize that in the US legislation is meant to be written by the legislature (Congress...the Senate and House) right? Voted on by the legislature and if passed, sent on to the executive branch for signature/veto. One of the problems of our curren political structure is that the Executive Branch is creating legislation and pushing it. Of course the president's role is to make his desires known to members of the legislature and back up the positions with strong evidence of why it makes sense for the American people...but it is expressly NOT to write legislation. Amazing that a political commentator actually said with increduality that "the reason anything happened during the presidency is because McConnel wrote legislation..." outloud.

    Governments have been following the advice of the OBR since 2010 (with the exception of Liz Truss's brief reign). Under their guidance the economy has done poorly. We haven't solved the problem of the UK's super low productivity, and we aren't developing new industries which can fuel future growth. Maybe it's time to consider some other voices, with other ideas.

    • @GodsOwnPrototype
      @GodsOwnPrototype 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The OBR never criticises bringing in millions of people who haven't paid in but immediately draw from the public purse & only a minority of whom ever contribute anything & an even smaller number meet their costs, let alone surpass them.
      Or borrowing billions to pay for unneccesary things the public doesn't want & hasn't called or voted for & aren't good for the families of the nations of this country.
      Billions for people who've broken into the country or overstayed illegally & are costing far more than they could generate in tax contributions, let alone what they actually do. Cut all of it, the monied bleeding hearts can pay for them rather than impoverishing the rest of us for them.
      Same for all the bloated bad deal contracts, plus the fraud & waste which should be chased down.
      Mass Immigration hasn't worked for the UK in terms of growth (except as measured by mere number of bodies & their consumption); the children of native Britons are set to be a minority in English schools within 11 years.
      The English Nation to be rendered a minority in their homeland of England in mere decades; all Britons to be a minority in the Isles a few short years after that.
      When supposed democracy for a people has meant the institutions of power & influence proceed to demographically minoritise native people in their own land with policies that have no moral right behind their execution & the policies were never proposed let alone received any mandate, it is useless & we are in an existential situation where self defence moral calculus may well apply.

How is it possible in recent years that the magazine’s editors can still have considered his morning-after-yet-another-bacchanal recountings, replete with the candid mention of his lothario-esque leerings at a young female attendee (often twinned with a deferential nod to his long-suffering wife), to be good copy? 😂

    On the budget…the logical way to level up, reduce the deficit, win a few votes even, is to tax those who can afford it. Not the middle classes, the rich, the super rich, big corporations who want to do business in the UK but don’t want to pay their fair share of tax on massive profits. Labour won’t do it but wouldn’t be able to say they’d undo it either. When you’re going to loose a election you may as well go big or go down meekly

    I'm not a Trump fan, but I am constantly amazed at the inability of his critics to understand what they're seeing. Michael Wolff is puzzled at "how much fun" Trump's audiences are having, with no self-awareness at all regarding the "fun" his class and social circle have been having at the expense of the working classes for years!! Two generations of working class Americans have listened to "tooth to tattoo ratio of Walmart shoppers" jokes and dismissals from the established media of any citizen who disagrees with any progressive policy or project . How could they not foresee that these peasants they find to be so revolting would eventually, literally, revolt?!?!?!

    Uk people do not wish for tax cuts over a good working NHS, education system or re structured police force , the daily things that effect most . This will mean stopping the tax breaks in private schools, the preference for private healthcare use of NHS facilities for personal profit making and the internal control of obvious police repetative failings on an industrial scale .
