- Children with gender dysphoria has skyrocketed in the past few decades. Whilst some go onto fully transition, questions are starting to rise about the availability of drastic medical interventions such as puberty blockers and medical castrations.
Julie Bindel, feminist and author, and Dr Az Hakeem, a consultant psychiatrist and psychologist who is now in private practice and authored the book 'DeTrans - when transition is not the solution', join The Spectator’s deputy broadcast editor Natasha Feroze. They discuss all things gender, ideology, and transitioning - and talk about when transitioning is not the solution. They also discuss other interventions such as group therapy and the controversy behind conversion therapy.

The “dead child” comment has been directed at me many times along with “when your “son” turns 18, “he” will disappear from your life if you don’t affirm”. Well, I don’t affirm and my daughter will turn 18 in November. In October, we are going to get matching tattoos to mark her 2 years with no suicide attempts. (She had 5 in 2 years starting at the age of 13.) And when she comes home from school or work or even an outing she seeks me out to tell me about it. I’m still scared to death that she will “fall” when she turns 18, but for right now I cannot stop being her link to reality no matter who beats on me.
Wow, sick. You must be an absolutely awful parent to allow this to happen to your kid, and yes YOU own the responsibility for raising a neurotic.
Bless you two on your journey ✨💗
Perfectly disgusting that TH-cam condescendingly tacks an advert for The Trevor Project to this video, desperate to hem us all in and make sure none of escapes from Groupthink.
wow 😢
agree--are they allowed to do that? TH-cam execs and producers need to police their OWN biases before lecturing the rest of us on being respectful.
If you see ads and wish not to, that's on you. I see no ads except on a very few sites where I do the trade-off, never on TH-cam. You don't know to block ads??
I still can't believe we have to work this hard to establish that up is up and down is down. How?
The Scottish Family Party published a book “Corrupting Young Minds” which illustrates the material used in sex/relationship classes in Scotland. Unbelievable content put in front of young children.
I am autistic.
I grew up as a bisexual young woman in Australia.
(Although Kathleen Stock would insist that I am not bisexual, because I am happily married to a man.
After hearing Julie speak recently on a TH-cam channel, I think she would insist that I was actually lesbian, because she thinks all women are secretly lesbian.)
I fell in love with one of my teenage female friends. I used to look at myself in the mirror, and wonder if I could be with her, if I was a boy.
I was sensible enough to realise that no, I couldn’t, as she would only ever see me as a girl.
I also later on fell in love with one of my male classmates, and realised that I was bisexual.
Of course I did not know I was autistic at that time. I didn’t find out until I was 56.
Fifteen uses of "I" in seven sentences may be a record for self absorbed written English. Try writing without using "I" once, I bet you can't. That's a problem.
Neither Kathleen Stock nor Julie Bindel would make such wide unfounded statements against bisexuality. What a gross and puzzling mischaracterization
Why would being bisexual prevent you from marrying a man?
Super conversation! Thank you!
To understand how utterly bizarre this is, Eliza Mondegreen has posted (on her Substack) a forum conversation among parents of ‘trans kids’ whereby one mum is upset and confused because her daughter is furious at her for letting her get a double mastectomy and go on wrong sex hormones at the age of 14, now that she regrets it.
And What does the mum think? Oh, maybe her daughter has gone down some dark detransitioner rabbit hole.
Anything but believe what her daughter is telling her. Well worth reading. I believe Jamie Reed has also written about the same thing.
Great guests!!
8:08 Exactly. I’ve been saying this for years: a teenage girl who’s become’ Gender confused’ online has nothing in common with a 55 year old autogynephile etc
A therapist can ask those questions but if a parent does to anyone over 18, you get crickets. I've heard comments like " it's not my job to help you understand" and " Do your due diligence but I'm not a science project to interrogate".
It's because they don't have the answers, because they joined the cult with the one set of opinions. They never thought deeply about these things themselves to make up their own mind. "I'm not asking you to educate me on the theory, I just want to know how YOU'RE doing and how your life is going, because I'm your mother/father. But if you don't want much of a relationship with me right now, I'd be sad about it but it's your freedom to decide to pull away from family."
Stonewall hasn't been relevant for years, they jumped on the trans thing to stay in the game. Grifter charity sham.
Im saddened that Dr Hakeem is no longer seeing gender patients. The trans cult must see this as a win. Why, when, and how did society cede so much power to this cult?
$$$$$$$$$$$$€€€€€€€£££££££
As soon as the money dries up, the cult’s power and leverage will cease.
Got into the goth scene around age 15-16 and 20+ years later I'm still in it. It's not a phase, unlike the trains. There's actually way fewer young subcultures right now it seems, at least not IRL or not visibly so. I was a teenager in the late 90s and early 00s and although it seems youth subcultures were slowly fading, at least the ones I associated with, but lumped together, every class had at least a couple "alternative" types.
No, a substitute for self-harming and eating disorders aka extreme teen melancholia
And anxiety.
@@nc5337 Anxiety is bankrupting the state, trans is destroying a generation of gay and depressed youth. Either way, transhumanism is the future for the liberal mafia that governs us.
Self-harm, and eating disorders do also need to be dealt with, on their own terms.
These are not normal parts of teenage years.
Sexting with me is like reading Shakespeare-lots of dramatic pauses and occasional confusion✨
Who asked?
Well thanks for that William 🐇
I don’t know who you think are watching your channel or whom you consider welcome, but my family is voting for Trump. I saw the advert halfway through asking for money and wasn’t sure what to make of that magazine cover at a glance.
Still, a very good conversation. Julie Bindel I’ve had the pleasure of listening to before. Dr. Hakeem was new to me and a pleasure to absorb his real life experiences on this transgender societal issue. Thank you.
I suspect female entry (and over representation) in teaching, Human Resources and bureaucracy might be part of the reason silly ideas don’t meet a hard stop with an authority figure. Women tend to be more consensual and concerned about “victims” and “feelings”. Most of the teachers who have been sacked for standing up to new left ideas about race, gender and Islam have been men.
@@LS-xs7sg TERFs who get r*pe and death threats enter the chat saying WTF?
It's empathy overly used empathy that ruin it for the world.
Love that guys specs, not a easy look to pull off, but he's smashed it. Not the most insightful comment, admittedly, but hey ho.
No, not “hey ho”.
People in this topic are talking about serious things, and you take it upon yourself to make your contribution solely about how good one of them looks.
That is deeply shallow, and distracting from the topic at hand.

Valentines Day is in 5 months!
Sex reveal parties are silly, it's just something pushed to sell more things. Just announce the sex of your baby to your family and friends so they can keep that in mind when they get you gifts to celebrate the baby's arrival, or keep it vague if you prefer people don't let themselves be guided by sex stereotypes when buying gifts for a BABY. Kids can play with any toys. There's lots of clothing styles and colours that aren't stereotypical for either sex such as yellow, cream, white, brown, green, red, orange, grey, black, etc.
I want to be a banana.
Am I a fruit or a vegetable?
🎉🎉🎉
A fruit.
I have no interest in anything misandrist Julie Bindel has to say on any subject. Please get a more respectable person to address issues.
“Captured Institutions” Please provide more evidence. This is laughable, if was not so dangerous rhetoric for the Trans community. The guests do not give solid evidence. This a deeply misleading and stupid conversation.
And this is precisely what it is a conversation. This is not science this is antidotal. Complete waste of everyone’s time. The science is clear on the subject.
No, the “science” is NOT clear on this subject and anyone who says so is ether a liar or a shill. 😡
All those wrong sex hormones must've given you early on set alzheimers😬😬 Deary, I think you forgot that this is an interview of a psychiatrist speaking about what he observed in treating patients. Oopsie! That's okay, just rewatch and really listen. Don't strain.
can you describe what you mean by laughable? Please provide specific explanations and timestamps. Thx bb.
