  • Let’s takes a look at the black widow hitch mount motorcycle carrier. Not a bad review and overview of what you get and what you can expect.
    It might not be the right fit for my Jeep Renegade.
    Worth taking a look at though!

    The videos should help anyone whether working on a cafe racer build or a full-on original restoration. I'm definitely not an expert so please refer to your manuals for proper disassembly and assembly instructions. Please leave comments if you have any questions. I'll be happy to help answer questions if I can confidently provide solutions. Again, I'm not a professional. This is my 2nd Honda motorcycle restoration and I'm learning every single day. I'd love to hear your tips if you have better ways to do things. I hope you find the series useful and entertaining. I strive to show as much detail as possible so that the videos can be used as not only a how-to resource but also a reference for the placement and original set up of parts and systems. If you don't have one already please get a manual for your specific project. There are many available online for download for free. Keep on wrenching, Your support is extremely appreciated. THANK YOU!

    I lost my license a year ago ( long story) so I use one of those annoying mopeds now which I hate to admit I actually like. My brother has offered to give me his Honda 250 when I get my license back. This motorcycle hitch carrier will work perfect for me. Thanks for making.

      @KeepOnWrenching  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For a 250 it’ll be perfect. The rack is great...only thing to pay attention is ground clearance. That’s not the rack’s fault. Get that license back!!!

    You installed the hitch lock backwards. That's the reason two of the bolts are not completely making contact. You will need a ratchet strap for the front wheel. PSR tie down, attaches to the handle bar, will keep your bike level and don't compress the forks. An AceBike Tyrfix will secure your rear wheel to the platform. Do as I suggest & your bike won't fall off and into another car.

    Good video. I built and installed mine today. My only complaint is the swinging wheel chock. It should be hinged. For it to work freely one can’t tighten it much at all. It needs at least a cotter pin. Very weird. Anyway I’m still unable to load my 600rr onto it. I’ve a large pickup so clearance isn’t an issue. The ramp angle is. It’s a two person job to load and unload. And I’m going to wait for help and hope someone at the track this weekend can lend me a hand (it’s my first track day and I won’t be making a great first impression).

    I have a 1977 Harley XLCR (425 lbs), and belong to a Phoenix Antique Bike club that goes on rides.
    Our next ride starts about 60 miles from my house. The bike would make it. I won't. Being from New Orleans originally, I compare riding this rare and badass motorcycle to wrestling an alligator while being hit with a hammer. It's brutal on this old battered body.
    Bought one of these carriers. Mounted the carrier. Put the bike on. Backed it down the driveway, and realized the rear tiedown loops wouldn't clear the street if I backed tried to back it all the way.
    Spent hours looking for a drop/rise hitch adapter that would meet specs. Found one that will allow raising the carrier 2" or 4". I'm hoping 2" will work because loading needs to be a one-man job.
    I'll be getting it in a few days. Luckily Amazon had a used one on sale with a BIG discount (package open).

  • @bizzfo
    @bizzfo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You most certainly exceeded your tongue weight, by a lot. Your Renegade is not rated for a 800 lbs tongue weight. If it was then your Renegade’s tow rating would be 8,000 lbs which is more in line with 1/2 ton full size trucks. The Renegade’s tow rating = 2,000 lbs which = tongue weight rating of 200 lbs (10% of tow rating). That carrier weighs 95 lbs. This means your motorcycle cannot weigh more than 105 lbs. Probably more like no more than 95 lbs after factoring in the weight of straps.
