I'm glad that you're video is still available, it made all the difference with installing this rack. You're so correct, the instructions are garbage. However, I am very grateful again for your video and the simplicity of completing of your installation instructions. Blessings!
The front tire of the motorcycle must rest down into the cradle and be secured with a large clevis pin and hairpin. This step is necessary in case a strap is broken or comes loose during transport. A second clevis pin is supplied. Depending on the size of your motorcycle, this pin may not be needed. If this pin is not used, secure the motorcycle tire with a strap (not included).
Hello and thanks for your excellent instructions. The only thing I disagree with or did differently than you was the first step in the beginning. I found it much easier to put the 8 bolts in with the bracket right side up as opposed to upside down. Cheers!
I have a Honda CRF125...very close to your bike size 😆 Thank you very much for this instructional video. I plan to use this video when I get this ramp...now costing about $119 on amazon. I plan to park my truck next to a small hill or bump of a hill if I can find one to at least help with the ramp slope created by my GMC K2500 3/4ton truck. Thanks again. Very helpful.
Great Job, I ended up putting those middle bolts the other way because My tires rubbed on the threads sticking out, still don't understand that stabilizer clamp
Just got one pretty much identical at Princess Auto (Canada) paid $120 and just used it today for the first time and seems to be good. 1986 CR250 back tire will not fall in the saddle for the pin but just strapped it and it was all good
I think you installed the stabilizer on the hitch backwards - the small leg of the "L" should be against the rack and the large leg flat against the bottom of the receiver so when you tighten the u bolt it pushsd the rack up snug against the inside top of the receiver.
Thanks for the tips, I just picked this up for my ebike (3.25 fat tires)...I paid like $70+ more than you did though :( This steel is not that thick to charge that much more....Plus my shipping box was damaged & almost shredded and lost some of the locking washers/nut/bent loading ramp...I am contacting Amazon about what to do about that. Cheers!
Just bought this exact same carrier and hit TH-cam up for a little better understanding. You are right. The instructions are crap. This video came in very handy.
Thank you for this video. My helpful neighbor and I would still be in the garage scratching our heads if not for your instructions. I will be carrying a 56 pound Lectric XP 3.0 E-bike. Can someone recommend some tiedown straps?
I just ordered mine for my e bike weighing at 120 80 without the battery really does sound like the best bang for you’re buck !! Sadly it’s at 120 now !):
Matching up all the hardware helps. Putting all the bolts, washers and nuts pretty much shows you what goes where. The hitch stabilizer is crap, I purchased the $10 harbor freight one and it’s much more stable
Excellent upload. I appreciate it very much. My rack arrived yesterday evening and with video it will be pretty easy to assemble. Those instructions that came with it are indeed bad! I'll be using this for my 80lb ebike so I'm sure it will hold up well. Might leave out 2 of the long bolts so the tires kinda drop in. Thanks again! What is the purpose of those long bolts with pins?
1) I bought mine for $120 on Facebook marketplace 2) I don’t understand if I’m supposed to remove one of the bolts to make a sort of basket for the tire to seat. 3) the back tire rolled off the carrier last night and I dragged the bike about 40 feet to a stop. 4) it is flimsy and I hate it.
I bought the same carrier to haul my 150cc scooter on my motorhome. Great video, though I would have liked to see your bike strapped down and see you haul it. I had to buy a double reciever for my hitch as the ramp is much too short to get my scooter onto the carrier. So the double hitch hangs lower and this works. I also have a bike rack I had hoped I could use with it also but it is too close to carry bicycles along with the scooter. I put the scooter on the carrier and it was very shaky so I ordered a hitch stabilizer such as you are using here. The company claims this carrier can hold up to 500 pounds but even my 230 pound scooter makes me nervous on this. Make sure you do not exceed the tongue weight on your hitch. Mine is 300 pounds. I have 2 other motorcycles both of which weigh around 500 pounds each. This carrier would never work and even it could carry those bikes the hitch would not suffice.
Thanks a ton for making this video! I was going to get the Harbor Freight model on a sidewalk sale, but I missed it. My budget is tight and I don't want to overspend on something I'll only use a few times a year. Any updates or information on how it held up would be appreciated, but I'm most likely going to get this one. My bike is about 225lbs, so I think this should do fine. My other is a Honda Metro scooter and a GZ250 that is a bit heavier than my other bike. Do you think this will do okay with 350lbs or so on it? That's my heaviest bike fully loaded. Thanks again!
Did- Customs, one question… I just received mine today, exactly the same, question is, how can I know what kind of hitch receiver I do need for a Ford Ranger’95??????…. Thanks in advance and also thanks for this vid, helpful!.
Thank you so much! I could have never done this with those horrible instructions! You're awesome! Next time if the item from Amazon does not have a free return I will never order it. That's how they get you!
dang it already doubled up in past year i got it for like 130 +tax so 150 out the door. i just got this to take my grom on a move from cali to kentucky. sucked though i was supposed to leave last week or so but then when i ordered, the first got returned because the packaging they said was all messed up. so had to reorder it and wait for about 4-5 days extra. and one of the butterfly nuts wont screw on for me one works perfect.. so ill have to try to find a nut for that before i leave tomorrow. though i just might throw the ramp inside the truck. did you tie it down with the spare tire on or off? sick bro its all we need for small bikes.
Just assembled my own and wondered if you figured out what the two "bolt with pin" is for? I wasn't sure if it was to stabilize the ramp with those holes or why it has pins at all. Any thoughts? Do you use them?
I believe the 2 long bolts with the holes at the end are put in place after the bike is put on . The bike tires drop down into the holes where the bolts aren’t . This immediately stabilizes the bike .Then you put the bolts in threw the tires to secure the bike .
Did he say at the beginning that a lot of us wouldn’t be able to assemble it? Then at the end he tried to load it from the wrong side with a large tire in the way???? Seriously

I just used this method today actually.

Standing on that side of your bike, especially with that spare tire, I just knew you were going to drop your bike. Good job holding on to it.
Thanks for the video, it made the assembly much easier.

Probably easier to stand on the right side of the bike when loading so you don't run into the tire lmfao
Lolol 😂
That was horrible to watch lol
Great Video! Thanks! I just got it put together. I still don't what those 2 bolts at then with the snap clamp is for lol!!
Looks like a great/cheap rack to carry my Electric Bike. Thanks
Dude! Thank you for the video 👍🏻. Made it super easy to set up
No problem! Glad I was able to help you out!
It'll be nice if there's one of this kind for two bikes😊
You are missing 2 flat plates, thats why the steel is bending when you tightened the bolts. very week without them. good luck
