    Awesome video! I wish this would have been around when I first purchased mine. As simple as these things seem to be to use, you really touched on some very important things that most of us would overlook in the beginning.

    This video made it much easier to put my 100 # E-Bike on this carrier. You present the processes very clearly. It was super helpful to know the things to do before hand.
    I love this carrier. Great Work!

    This was the most complete video for all phases of what to do with this particular carrier. The only thing I would suggest is finding a few synonyms for skosh (hair, bit, smidgen, touch, tad)? Thanks for the assist.

    Great video. I have been looking at one of these to haul my wife's Honda Rebel 300 on vacations with.
    Also, thanks for teaching me the word "skosh". I've never in my life heard it, but my wife heard it a lot as a kid. FYI for this as nerdy as I am and may be interested: "Borrowed from Japanese 少し (sukoshi, “a little bit”), originally US armed forces slang." Makes sense that my wife knew it, as she grew up in a military family.

    This guy sure does love the word " Skosh " ! Btw great tutorial very informative. As for the bending I ended up taking off their supports on both sides and put 1.5"x1.5" square tubing across the length on top of the carrier then drilled through the middle and each end then bolted them down at the corners and through the middle section and now it doesn't bend at all!

    I've had one for over a year now and am happy with it, for the price. For me it was too high off the ground so I had to buy their extension, that lowers the rack a bit. Even with the anti-tattle brackets, or whatever they call them, the unit seems quite loose, but that hasn't been a problem. I might mention that the black plastic knobs are junk, I've had two of the break off. They need some kind of metal wing nut, I'll probably have to weld something up.j
    Thanks for the demo and review.

    A helpful tip. Don’t use the cheapest weakest straps you can find to strap your bike down. When your moving around the bike may have forces acting upon the strap that increases the bikes weight on the strap.

    Great Video, I like your honest review of the bending under load. I have to politely disagree about the statement, "No bend after unloading". Your video shows a minor bend remaining in the carrier after unloading.

    I just bought this yesterday for a Razor EcoSmart Metro Scooter. Thin 16” tires:
    I just removed the wing nuts and it works fine.
    I plan to chop off the extension that holds the ramp. Who needs that? I can throw the ramp in the SUV.

    Excellent video. I'll be buying one of these carriers to transport my e-bike & e-scooter on my Sprinter. The bike will rest on the carrier, and the scooter will fold and rest on the ramp. BTW, the reason the platform deflected downward is because the weight of the bike and the downward pressure exerted by the straps exceeded the design limit of the carrier. The bike weighs a nominal 300 pounds. The force exerted while compressing the suspension would have easily been >100 pounds, thus exceeding the device rating. That's my guess, anyway.

    Great video! I was thinking if those 2 metal ‘strap’ stabilizer bars seen on the top were underneath pushing up instead it would alleviate some of the bending. What kind of camera are you using - is it 4K? The video quality is excellent!

    Very good video. I am thinking about these for an eventual van conversion and to take a dual purpose bike with me. How are you finding the ground clearance when negotiating hills and ferry ramps?

  • @danveenstra1585

    You mention in this video that the front tire locks barely work on your front tires because the width of the tires is narrow, Do you know when the left and right tire holds are screwed all the way in what the measurement between the two holding points. What is the width of the opening when the two tire hold downs are all the way in? This will tell me if my fat tire (4") e-bike will work with this ramp.

    Bought one but just took it back. Installed on a 3500hd 4x4 dually with a hitch adapter to also tow a sea doo. The bike was too far off the ground to safely load/unload with any degree of control. The ramp that comes with it is too short under the circumstances and it makes it too steep. I tried a longer ramp and supports under each side. Just too much to handle for a xr150l which is about 300 pounds.

  • @themensh
    @themensh 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When loading from the right, you used a jack and a ‘chock’. When unloading to the left, you only used a jack. Is the left side of the carrier lower than the right?

    • @emptech
      @emptech 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I load the carrier from one direction using the ramp provided. To unload, I don't use the ramp, I just start the engine and walk the bike off in the same direction it was loaded. I believe you can't do that with the black widow, because it has a thing that traps the front tire. As mentioned elsewhere, the black plastic knobs are junk, there needs to be a better solution, metal wing nuts?
