As 2023 disappears from view, we're stitching a new disappearing quilt-with a sprinkling of Missouri Star magic.
The Disappearing Pinwheel Illusion Quilt appears complex, with intricate piecing and stacked blocks. (Of course, it's all an illusion!) It's made with precut layer cake squares and a sweet cheater cloth print. Jenny's fabric is English Garden by Edyta Sitar for Andover Fabric, and her squaring tool is the trusty Bloc Loc.
Learn how to make half-square triangles four-at-a-time and create those "stacked" blocks with ease.

Glad Jenny mentioned Brita. Her channel is definitely worth following. She has done an amazing number of disappearing blocks.
Yes, I really like Brita, she’s a good teacher of these disappearing quilts!
I love brita
Brita is excellent and loads of fun. Check out her channel.

Just found Brita today. Ima gonna do the Double Vision.
I love that you dont step on other teacher's toes. Credit where credit is due. You deserve all your blessings! I always look forward to Friday
I also enjoy Brita’s TH-cam channel. It would be fun to see Brita as a guest in your studio for a MSQC/Brita collaborative project. No doubt you’d come up with something great.
Oh yes please as she is so good
Brita, The Questioning Quilter creates some amazing quilts. I've been following her TH-cam tutorials for awhile. It's amazing what you can create from basic quilt blocks.
I've been following Brita as well. She is a darling!!!
Totally agree, I have Brita's disappearing sampler on my "want to do soon" list
When I saw Jenny's quilt, I immediately thought of Brita. Yes, I follow her, too. Jenny has a new take on this. I love this one, too.
Oh my gosh, I cant believe Brita went mainstream! Its so great to see small content creators collab with bigger channels, I hope to see more of Brita's idea, id love to see her Moroccan tiles with one of Missouri Star's curated fabric collections!
I agree she's the best 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Brita definitely didn't create this block. It's amusing that people aren't grasping these disappearing blocks have been around for MANY years
Thank you Jenny and msqc. Nice shout out for Brita, who is back now from wing injury. Great colour/fabric choice. Hugs, Chel 🌸
Yes. It was nice to see Brita doing a tutorial today since she has been in therapy for her injury. Glad to see her back to work. This is a great block. ❤
Oh yes I'm happy, too, that Brita is now doing much better and I was really surprised to see her new tutorial popping up yesterday. I love all her pattern and already sewed some of them and they all turned out pretty easy to follow and with a beautiful result. Happy New Year to all of you from Germany, love ❤
Love this quilt I’m going to add it to my list 😂 I’ll have to live to be 120 to do all the quilts I love ❤
As soon as I saw your quilt I thought of Brita Nelson. I love her videos.
This one has been on my to-do list since I watched Brita's tutorial. Thank you for acknowledging her and for providing us with this wonderful version.
It’s so nice when quilters give each other a shout out. Brita is another great teacher. It’s amazing how her brain works
Everyone needs a Natalie!!!!
I saw Jenny's quilt in the thumbnail and came all in with FIRE ready to defend Brita as the one who did it first....but Jenny - class act! Gave Brita credit. Well done to both #artistrespect
I love that you look to see if someone else in the quilting world is doing the same thing and reach out to them. You model the generosity of spirit and graciousness that I so admire in you and your company and wish for us all in the creative community. Let's keep lifting each other up and encouraging others along the way! BRAVO❤
This is about the 4th time watching this particular video through the years. It helped clear up a few questions on putting the parts together. I'm so appreciative of your videos. They are a treasure trove of extra information with pictures.
Love Brita! Her channel is great! 🎉🎉🎉
Jenny, this is a beautiful quilt and pattern! I enjoy Brita, also! I know she was very flattered that JENNY DOAN called her! How nice!
Brita is so much fun! Your quilt is fantastic! Happy New Year to you and your whole family.
OH MY, Jenny...I MUST move this to the top of my TO DO Quilt List. I have been watching Brita, the Questioning Quilter for a while now. You're right, she IS so delightful and imaginative and just as you do, Jenny, she is always asking "but what if..."!?! Your disappearing pinwheels quilt is absolutely gorgeous❣️
I love how complicated it looks but wow... it's so easy!!!! And what a stunning design!!!!!
I LOVE The Questioning Quilter! She does some really wonderful things! I remember you talking about looking at a quilt block and ask, "What if...?" She does that a LOT! Thank you for the tutorial of the disappearing pinwheel. I love how complex it looks at the end, but it's not really hard to make!
Beautiful! Brita is one of the great teachers.
Nice to recognize Brita the questioning quilter. I did one of her patterns with fabric from a club challenge. Love her ideas.
I made one of Britas disappearing quilts for my sons 21st prezzy. He loves it. In January 2023 I made a decision to make all 5 of my kids the same quilt in different colours. 5 x 3d quilts. All queen size. Winning.
Love Britta's quilts, love your showing how to put it together, and love Natalie's new look. She is so pretty.
This quilt is a beautiful piece of artwork! Thank you for showing us how to do it. Jenny, you and Natalie are just beautiful also! Nat, I love how you looked in your glasses and straight hair, you look like a teenager!❤
Love this quilt😊. Thanks so much for the design wall demo. It sure is helpful.
I love my Friday mornings, with coffee in hand and watching a new MSQC tutorial.
Already making this one just need to join the blocks to finish the quilt top, making it in only 2 colours. Brita explains things well i agree.
This quilt is stunning. The combination of the pattern and the fabric really appeals to me. Thank you Jenny and Natalie.
i have my blocks done, am in the process of laying them out... turns out, this is the rare quilt from either msqc or brita that i'm not loving. each block is 11.5", so with 4 put together to reveal the pattern, each design on the finished quilt is going to be 22" square.
what i'm getting at is that the actual overall design is so large it can only be seen from afar. up close within say 5-6 feet, it doesn't read- at all. i'm going to make this again, but with either 5" charms (maybe TOO small?), or most likely by using another layer cake, but cutting it down to 7.5" squares and using the resulting 2.5" strips to make a border.
I have been following Brit’s for quite awhile. She has some very interesting creations. I love this pattern, and have one cut out already…. Now to put it together!!!!
I love Brita. I knew who you were referring to before you mentioned her name. She has a lot of good videos. Definitely worth watching Brita the questioning quilter.
Ooh I have a 10" pack of Bodacious Black that will be lovely in this pattern.
I had to stop the tutorial and go pull this layer cake! Yep, it will be beautiful. It has subtle blues greens taupes down to black in it. I considered hexis, but I think this will pop. My son's "colors" and it will be his ginormous lap quilt he asked for so many times. He loves illusion designs.
Thank you Jenny Natalie and Brita!
I've been also following Brita as well. She is a great design teacher. It allows a quilter to make unique quilts. Like, I'm already thinking of making this block to a rectangle.
Brita is amazing. So gracious of you to mention her. Put the two of you together - watch out quilt world!
Brita does an amazing job with disappearing blocks.
Going to give a try thank you
Love the Questioning Quilter!
That's so wonderful that you picked up one of Brita's disappearing pattern, her tutorials are absolutly great, too. I love to work with Brita's pattern and they always turn out beautiful. Happy New Year to all of you at MSQC, love ❤
I just started following Brita on her channel the other day, what a funny coincidence! I love her ideas and patterns!
Absolutely beautiful! I can't get over how great Natalie looks! Beautiful people doing beautiful things! Happy New Year ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
This is a beautiful quilt and pattern! I am going to put it on my to-do list! I've never watched Brita's videos, but I will certainly be checking them out!
You are so cute Natalie . I love watching videos with you and your mom. My mom passed away in October . Blessing to you all in 2024 Peace and Joy
Thank you Jenny! I hope your Holiday’s have been wonderful. Looking forward to another year with you and your family, and always learning from you all. ♥️
I just found Britta today. She is great at tutorials! Love you too Jenny!♥️
Jenny, you are one class act. This quilt pattern has the same cutting except for 1/16 of an inch & sewing technique as your disappearing pin wheel whirlygig quilt that I’ve made two of. I’m going to make this too. Just the piece placements are different thank you so much ❤
Always love, love , love your disappearing block quilts, Jenny. My first quilt was one of yours! Thanks again! On my list!
Wow😮. Thanks Jenny! I’m a beginner, intermediate level. Hmmm. I’m tempted to give it a try. Love this 🤗. Your tutorial made it look easy 🙌❣️
A really helpful tutorial, I just couldn’t see how you would rearrange the components looking at your first block! A striking quilt in a pretty fabric! I have learnt everything about making quilts from your tutorials, you seem to know how I think! Long may you continue!
I love Brita’s quilts! I have several of hers on my to-do list.
I saw Brita do this and loved it. However, I did not like the block size when I made it. Size matters! I know this is more what I want. THANK YOU! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Brita is a terrific teacher, as is Jenny. Will there be any garment tutorials in 2024?
love this quilt, sew easy with your guidance, i notice when you square up with the bloc lox that when you turn it, the rough edge is pushing the fabric, which keeps it in place. That is such a great sewing hack. I have 2 quilts I want to make this year, and this is one, besides finishing last years projects. Thanks sew much jenny, I follow you almost daily and look forward to your emails and tutorials.
Beautiful quilt. I will add this to the top of my list of quilts to make.
Love it!!!!❤❤❤
Glorious! Love this block and i want to wish all of MSQC , and everyone, a very happy, healthy 2024, filled with peace and love 💝
Absolutely beautiful!
Wow love how this is turning out
Just enjoying watching and learning also.
Love your tutorials and thank you for mentioning Brita to us…I will check her out. I’m still weaning away from the daily opening from the advent box and this helps 😊. Happy New Year Jenny!
This may be my fav quilt yet!
Happy New Year, Jenny! Thanks for this beautiful quilt! Looking forward to working on it in the New Year! Blessings to you and your family!
Oh my goodness this is gorgeous
I will check out Brita. I really love this quilt and will put it on the list for the coming year. Happy New Year to you Jenny and to everyone at MSQC.
Brita does interesting videos.
Nataly that brown is beautiful on you, it makes your hair golden and you look like fall leaves. just lovely.
Love these colours and your pattern together!
Thank you for another terrific year of inspiration! Prayers for many more!❤❤❤
Hi Jenny, I just subscribed to Brita the Questioning Quilter. She is FABULOUS! Thank you so much for all you do, and Happy New Year!
I love your quilts Jenny!
I pray that you, Jenny, your family and company, have a blessed 2024!
Thanks for this beautiful quilt tutorial!
I appreciate the times you comment on how squaring the block helps the quilt go easier. I used to think , in the beginning of sewing life, that the fuller Block is bigger and such better. Then nothing matched ....
Natilie, you look great!!!
I absolutely love this pattern!!
Hi Jenny, oh my, I just love it! Thank you. I have a special request... How about a Triple Play in 2024 on the Rail Fence Block?
Omgoodness i was just looking at your digital pattern. Love the quilt.❤
I love this quilt!! Good to see Natalie helping you again.
Wow, I love this quilt, thank you again Jenny. 🥰🥰
So beautiful! I'm going to have to make this one for sure!!
I love this! Thanks, Jenny! The pattern is in my cart!
Jenny….. this is soooo cool - and the fabric line you used makes it look like it’s fading in & out!!! I really want to make this one for myself ‼️‼️❤️
Loved it ❤!!Happy New Years Jenny!!!God blessed you with a lot of health!!!! Thank you for your tutorials!!!
Love, love this quilt. I've never thought of putting disappearing blocks together like this.
This quilt is so beautiful. I’m glad to see a challenge for a change. Using a simple block and turning it into something that looks like it takes forever is the way to go. Thanks Jenny, I’ve missed your videos where you show us that we can accomplish something that looks so hard but really isn’t.
Always enjoy watching your tutorials. Happy New Year and wishes for a wonderful 2024.
I love, love the design of this quilt. I have some Edyta Sytar fabrics that I think would look stunning in this pattern. Thanks, Jenny and Natalie for being so wonderful and helpful with inspiring me in new ways. Happy New Year 🎉❤
I love this quilt and I love Brita too! I have made several of her disappearing block quilts. So much fun!!
I loved this pattern and I don't have anything on the machined at the moment so ripped right in and made the first few squares. After cutting the first pinwheel I forgot which way the HSTs in the corner went, so I popped into my bedroom to check my sketch.... Some hours later I had moved all the furniture, vacuumed behind everything and dusted. I may have been a bit intimidated by the piecing. Oops. Once I caught my breath I was able to sit down and put the centre block together. Whew! A real challenge. Thanks for scaring me into to doing my spring cleaning 😀
Jenny, would you kindly demonstrate spiraling the seams on pinwheels sometime? I get so much bulk with the pinwheels that it makes the quilting challenging…
Lovely and one of your best designs. Thanks!
Jenny this is a stunning design. Just love it. Thank you for sharing every week
Another wonderful tutorial! Always love your style of quilting, Jenny. This block is so amazing, in how it comes together - beautiful!
Hello, Ms. Jenny!! I just loved your quilts!! I love the disappearing quilt!! Thank you for demonstrating!! ❤
Wow this one is amazing super tutorial Jenny🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I love this quilt. Thank you, Jenny.
Wow! This might be a real “illusion” if done in black and white with a narrow stripe always pointing to the center! It would probably be a headache to do with stripes, but what an illusion it would make, three dimensional!
Loved this!! I can already see it in black with bright colors in my head. Thank you, Jenny!
Ohhh magnifique....merci merci merci Jenny....passez une excellente fin d’année....big 😘..🎉❤ encore u e idée géniale....vous êtes une fée.
This quilt is so much fun!
Thank you again, Jenny, for an amazing tutorial.
