Time Fades Away album has always remained an amazing live album despite NY regularly slamming it over the years .Can,t think of any other artiste who after having a massive success like Harvest releasing their next album not only live concert tunes but stuff that nobody had heard before .All the tracks on TFA were totally new and confused and pissed of lots of his fans who expected another Harvest .Ive been collecting NY vinyl for decades and whether you like the tunes or not the albums lyrics and detailed line up in aged paper insert is huge and unique in my mind
rock and roll. to anyone who doesn't know it, this guy sings ONLY the truth, I don't like it all , but this guy is not to be denied. his songs feel bad and good, but he is a king among artists.
I'm surprised to hear someone not appreciating Billy Talbot on drums. Seems to me Neil just tells the rhythm-keepers to find a groove and stay there...It turns all his tunes with them into true meditations...I so love it...top o' the rock category for moi... Thanks for this gift...
Fan since BS an' Neil the mystery man......he's been revealing it to us ever since. America's poet, arguably, but valid. The world's a better place........:-)
Neil w/Crazy Horse / well HELL YES I am going to Listen all night am going to turn everyone onto THIS TY FOR SHARING THIS omg TY I don't care what the hell why no more likes, more loves, CLASSIC and KILLER NY listening again in 2017 as always and as we ALWAYS Will ty for sharing this epic classic will post lyrics if anyone wants to sing along, eh? Anyone but me care to post lyrics? ( pleaze) ? Don't Be Denied !
It's the "Crazy Horse" sound. Neil comes back to it. I think instead of questioning his decision you should understand that this sound is engrained in Neil. That's good enough for me.
Whats so great about it? Nothing wrong with it but...the greatest album art of all time? Guy doing peace sign in front of audience with roses on stage in foreground. Are we talking about the same thing?
@@NowhereMan7 I agree but it must really strike some folks. Just read that Cameron Crowe recreated it as a scene in Almost Famous. Haven't seen it yet but plan to this weekend.
Saw him perform this one live back in the 70 INCREDIBLE seeing him live when he was a "young boy" like he says just an amazing and unforgeable experience. gus was at San Diego sports arena and is taped on the time fades away album in case you dont believe me thank you didn't mentioned the part oh Canada
"When I was a young boy, My mama said to me Your daddy's leavin' home today, I think he's gone to stay...." "....Well, all that glitters isn't gold I know you've heard that story told. And I'm a pauper in a naked disguise A millionaire through a business man's eyes. Oh friend of mine Don't be denied...." What is it about the hum of an amp and the strum of a chord that it can so comfort one's self as it reverberates through you like the most subtle of caresses? Don't be denied.
Dear BrokenArrow24. I thank you very much sir or miss for posting this. I played this ten times in a row. I assume from your screen name that you know a good deal about Mr. Young. I am a fan too and what intrigued me the most, besides the sound, vocal, instruments and melodies, is the meaning of Neil Young's Music. I listen to the words and I have visions. These visions arouse common themes. I always interpret that the songs are about valuing friendship revolving around nature. It's as if the instrumentals emphasize friendship and values while the words discuss dialogues of conflict. Sometimes the lyrics are sad but the background emphasizes those values, as if one can feel good while bad. Since you're a fan, I'd like to know if you agree with me. Do other fans feel the same on this page? I think Neil is one of the best lyricists, and his music backs up what he's saying. Most Sincerely.
I love this song but there was a more definitive version, the first version I heard live, recorded by a fan, but I can't seem to find it anymore. In it, he said, "The businessmen crowded around; they came to SEE the golden sound..." There was a guy named Dan who thanked him for coming out, saying, "It's not very often we get players of your caliber by golly," and Neil goes, "Gosh Dan it's really nice of you to say that." Still, this version is the closest recording I could find to it. Thank you for sharing!
@theguyfromparis: The drummer is Ralph Molina, and he has been a member of Crazy Horse from the start. If that is not enough as an explanation for you, then maybe you should do some reading on the Neil Young - Crazy Horse relationship...
You guitar fans might take note of the P-90's on Neil's Guitar - those soapbar pickups can be noisy, but they are also fatter than a butcher's dog. I've only seen him play the black LP with the Bigsby - two of them, actually, and the white one, but I haven't seen him play this song, either. I remember the burning candles at Cal Expo, I guess back in '96 when two of the songs ended up on the live album. Just saw him last October in Berkeley with PoTR. Nora Jones just covered it on her recent release, btw.
@11xzxzxz ive been a fan since havvest[ i was too young to get buffalo springfield when they were relavent?] ive listened or owned 20 niel young albums since then. this is real always was aways will be. dont be denied its time to go to work. lol
Thanks for your answer. I shall never be a "fan"- of anybody - and i will always be questioning decisions [If i don't... am I obliged to say that all his decisions were good ones ? :-)] But you're right though : this is Neil's sound. i'm sure it could have been better on this point... its not a big deal, but it could have been... the drum parts are not good enough for me ! I love this song, anyway. I remember this fantastic and terrible album, Time fades away... but... more drums problems !
Hi Geoff! I am very sorry if this is your footage! I don't remember where I got the file many years ago. I uploaded here 10 years ago just to share this rare concert with other neil fans. I don't earn money with it or whatsoever. Do you want to mentioned on the video description or do you want me to take video down?
Greetings, Thank you for the very polite response and offer to give me credit or remove it. I definitely would not mind if you added my name for credit. I can give you the equipment details as well if interested.
How can you not love this guy

rock and roll. to anyone who doesn't know it, this guy sings ONLY the truth, I don't like it all , but this guy is not to be denied. his songs feel bad and good, but he is a king among artists.
saw CSNY do this song in '74 and was totally mesmerized by the performance.
Very Special!

Billy Talbot plays bass. Ralph Molina is the drummer.
Everyone should know that

saw him in May in Louisville, KY. Love him, and it's worth every dollar plus to see him still.
What a great tune .In my mind this is a gem like a few others on the album Time Fades Away. June is rolling our way .

11Xz - I'm a huge fan! Love dozens of Neil's songs. But this one is my favourite. Don't know why. It just is.
Just... awesome. Great to see a video of Neil and the boys performing this live. Always been one of my favorite Neil tunes. Don't be denied, people!
It's one of his several great tunes that never made it(as far as I know) to a studio release. My old Fades away lp is long gone.
Beautiful Path Forward !!! No better song to watch The Horse GO !!!
BrokenArrow24 Thanks for not denying us this video!
What a great tune .Heard first in the 70,s on the album but live is a real treat

Great performance. I love when he includes the O Canada verse.
Seeing 'em in a week. I don't think this song will pop up, but it would be real good if it does!
EPIC footage..THANK YOU!!
The album cover this song came from is the best of all time

That's my experience, in Japan, in 1973-4 , of my first hearing of THAT MASTERPIECE by my (age-related) brother-in-arms ... !?
LOVE IT, LOVE HIM, LOVE CRAZY HORSE!
amazing sound quality here! thanks for posting
Don’t be denied! Neil is the best! Rock on!
What a great tune
The '97 Trocadero videos are gold!
Thank you most kindly! I filmed this!

Wonderful. Great song & performance, and oh so rare. Thanks for sharing this.
What a gret tune
