Cartoon characters like Sheev Palpatine can fall hundreds of meters onto a searing hot reactor core, "survive" the fall -- then survive an explosion that blows their bodies into "nano-particles" -- then come back in a physical form, like nothing happened.

Sure, they have their own ups and downs and I think we all can agree on the Attack of the clones being very bad but I feel those 3 movies really deserve better. After all, they are the precursors of the original trilogy and manage to explain many things that were left unanswered back then. Plus, the soundtrack and lightsaber duels from the prequels are simply wonderful. 4 words: Battle of the heroes.

I'm not an expert on the expanded SW universe, so I don't know if it was done by any other Sith (besides Moman in the DV comic, which is "new cannon" and instantly ignorable by my opinion) but if so, I would guess that the object they bonded their spirit to would be one of great and intimate importance to them, like the mask or maybe even their light saber. But seeing as the second Death Star wasn't even complete yet, and Sidious didn't exactly foresee his approaching demise, I doubt he would be able to bond with a piece of the destroyed Death Star (as was early speculation for Ep 9) in time. Face it, he died. The End.

He barely did anything and had no backstory worth talking about. He was just an ominous shadow behind Vader, just like Snoke was to Kylo Ren.
If you look at everything that has happened under the pretense that everything that Palpatine does is ultimately for his own good and advancement, as well as that mostly everything is meticulously orchestrated, it all kind of starts to make sense and you can start making all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. I have my doubts that they actually planned on bringing Palpy back in ep. 9 all along, but either way it's a smart move and really ties everything together. They can even fix what was undone by Rian Johnson in TLJ for the benefit of the greater story if they do a good job.
I think people assume Palpatine didn't die on the Deathstar now that he is returning. I think he did.....In fact I think the plan for Rex was suppose to carry out was suppose to bring Palpatine back to life...Similar to what happend with Revan wanting to bring back Vitiate in SWTOR.....Basically enough death happened to fuel his return. When that failed I think the next time Palpatine was able to be brought back was when Starkiller Base blew up all those planets at once. I think that's when he finally actually returned atleast weakened.
My theory is that Sidious gained access to the world between worlds momentarily and used it to rescue himself as he was falling from the death star and has simply been waiting for 30 years to reemerge so that time would flow normally, basically what Ashoka did when she was rescued except that it had to be for a longer period of time.
I always found it disturbing how Palpatine's forehead looks like a severely deformed nutsack... I guess...the attempt on his life...left him scarred...and deformed...
Yeah, because it's incredibly easy to sort Palpatine's nano-particles from the rest of the debris in the Death Star explosion. It makes "perfect sense" that scientists in the Star Wars Universe could readily and easily reassemble Palpatine from the remnants of the 2nd Death Star.

Ethan Trimble yeah? He was what kept the Empire in order, he could’ve just popped back up and say the rebels failed, thereby crushing their morale and probably the rebellion not long after. My guess is some of force ability kept him tethered to the world of the living (like a Horcrux from Harry Potter) but not fully ‘alive’ and so he needs something to become full again in ROS.

I believe the voices of the "dark side" oft the forces were the Wills of the force. There actually is not "light or dark" there is only the force and how one chooses to use it.
If Palpatine sent many if the empire's resources to the unknown regions and that's where Snoke comes from, could this be how he created the first order? Not that it was what the emperor wanted, but Snoke found everything and decided to follow his steps much like Kylo did with Vader.

I think he did.....In fact I think the plan for Rex was suppose to carry out was suppose to bring Palpatine back to life...Similar to what happend with Revan wanting to bring back Vitiate in SWTOR.....Basically enough death happened to fuel his return. When that failed I think the next time Palpatine was able to be brought back was when Starkiller Base blew up all those planets at once. I think that's when he finally actually returned atleast weakened.

My theory is that Sidious gained access to the world between worlds momentarily and used it to rescue himself as he was falling from the death star and has simply been waiting for 30 years to reemerge so that time would flow normally, basically what Ashoka did when she was rescued except that it had to be for a longer period of time.
I always found it disturbing how Palpatine's forehead looks like a severely deformed nutsack... I guess...the attempt on his life...left him scarred...and deformed...
I don't think he escaped his death, I think rather he's going to be resurrected somehow.

Yeah, because it's incredibly easy to sort Palpatine's nano-particles from the rest of the debris in the Death Star explosion. It makes "perfect sense" that scientists in the Star Wars Universe could readily and easily reassemble Palpatine from the remnants of the 2nd Death Star.

Ethan Trimble yeah? He was what kept the Empire in order, he could’ve just popped back up and say the rebels failed, thereby crushing their morale and probably the rebellion not long after. My guess is some of force ability kept him tethered to the world of the living (like a Horcrux from Harry Potter) but not fully ‘alive’ and so he needs something to become full again in ROS.

If SW characters are always able to somehow come back after they die ... then storywise, there's no more peril/threat for any character. It hurts the story.
Sadly, I'm still expecting IG-11 to show back up in the Mandalorian show. He was terminated so I should NOT have that expectation.

I feel the same. It's all because they suck at writing and they've killed every other ot character ppl love so they're desperate. Its marketing, nothing more. Sidious was killed by the chosen one. Period. I dont want to see him as some kind of force ghost either.

If Palpatine sent many if the empire's resources to the unknown regions and that's where Snoke comes from, could this be how he created the first order? Not that it was what the emperor wanted, but Snoke found everything and decided to follow his steps much like Kylo did with Vader.
