I'm just a yank. You know, think that I know everything without knowing anything. I find your videos wonderful. I'm glad England, Wales, Scotland still invest in their railways.
Les, thanks so much for sharing the action from Carlisle. I had a chuckle to myself when, at 8:06, I thought I saw three geese by the tracks in the bottom left corner of the shot, I quickly realized it was a few bags of ballast or something!
1st time i went to carlisle was in 1963 on a saaturday got the 1025am leeds to glasgow central had a peak on it got of at carlisle visited both upperby and kingmoor until that day never seen a clan but needed 1 after which was 72005 and behold it was on the return train from glasgow to leeds made my day that did
Hello from USA. Really enjoy your videos , thank you for sharing. I’m originally from uk and have been pleasantly surprised how much improved all the rolling stock in uk has become in the past few years. If you compare it with AMTRAK in USA most of it is garbage . 50 to 60 year old equipment. Really needs updating.
Thanks Michael. I've travelled on Amtrak and agree with you. Even the newer superliners are almost identical to the original 1970s stock. Saying that the units coming into Carlisle on local trains are around 35 years old, but even the old stuff has been internally refurbished over the years.
Another excellent video Lessome awesome shots there matey it had to rain on you in the end did'nt it ☹ but warmer ...can't win em all , but never the less anothere super video well done Les take care a t b Syd👍
Yet another enjoyable video. Thanks for all your patience, dedication and hard work in making these wonderful videos. Wishing you all the best for Xmas and the New Year.
A very cool collection of trains and video. Quite a mix of trains and engines in this one. Great shot @ 17:30 of several trains in all directions! Again around 25:00! Cheers!
Another quality report from what must be the top spot for viewing in Cumbria maybe even the country. Your videos have been very enjoyable over the time since I started watching. Keep them coming. All the best for Christmas & The New Year. Regards from Birmingham.
hi there, great video. love the class 86 and 37, hate the avanti trains, come back the 86s and 87s with decent coaching stock, not quite sure why there are 2 class 90s on that goods train
hi Les another great day out shame about the rain though at least it was warm for you I was just wondering the loco that was there on ice breaking duties who was covering north of Carlisle on the same duties and it was great to see the platforms so full at Carlisle same the strikes spoil it for everyone looking forward to you next video please stay safe and all the best for Xmas
I can't believe that money has been wasted to paint a train in the rainbow colours for pride. I am pretty sure there are plenty other ways the money could have been spent. This is not getting at GBLTQ but painting fancy designs on any train is money that could be used to make the railways better for passengers and not making the trains display emblems for an agenda that does nothing to help passengers ormake travelling easier
@@LeslieGilpinRailways Ok Les. I'm not just getting at the LGBT thing. Maybe it's just me and getting old. Every where you turn these days there is adverts for one thing or another. Be it cars or flying an airline or the worst ones are all over the place TV magazine all about getting life insurance. They can't get us insured and dead fast enough. I know im moaning more like an old person anyway, but I would just be happy enough the trains are clean inside and washed on the outside. We don't need all the advertising. But thats just me having a moan. Apart from that appreciate the footwork you put in to bring these videos to us,especially the cold and rain you put up with for us. All the best for 2023

Good to see some normalcy in Carlisle. Quite a busy day by the looks of things.
Thanks David. Definitely all seems back to normal for a few days at least!
Very impressive shots, thank you! Warm greetings from Germany.

Very enjoyable Leslie, so much better than sub zero. ATB, Andy.
Thanks!
Another great video Les, and a special thank you for adding the timings for each train at Carlisle or any other location it’s a big help 👍
Your welcome! Just shows how so much can happen in a short space of time
I love the sounds of a class 86 them fans and traction motors take me back to Euston London as a kid in the late 70s 🥰
I know what you mean. Seeing the 86 in Carlisle and the 87 the other day was like old times
Thanks for sharing. Hope the present pile is a high one on the 25th. Seasons greeting to you and yours. Stay safe.
Thanks Mike. Merry Christmas to you both

Thanks Vernon. I never saw a clan back in the day but Carlisle and the Glasgow -Leeds trains were the place to see them

Very nice Leslie. You had some nice line-ups while the 86 and 37 were in the middle. Liked the 37 clagging up the station too. All the best.
Thanks Tim!
Great stuff again Les. Putting the time on the screen periodically is a great enhancement too. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! Shows how the action is spread through the day

Thanks you - a merry Christmas to you and yours
The 68s seem to be working a number of the 88s rosters.
Yes they and 66s have been working most class 88 workings. Thanks for watching

Thanks Peter
Awesome work as always Les
Thanks Digger
Mozart couldn't have composed the sound of that 37 as brief as it was, pure music....
Thanks! Good to hear a 37

Thanks Peter. Both DB and Freightliner run 90s in pairs. Apparently they are not the most reliable locomotives.
Great video
Thanks!
Great coverage 😍👌
Thanks
Excellent uploads again
Thanks
Good video again what is the roarer doing there the class 86 it's been there for a few days is it a standby loco chance an electric or diesel fails!!!
It came up as an ice breaker when the wires were seeing no use overnight. In this video the thaw had set in so was no longer needed
@@LeslieGilpinRailways nice to see a roarer still in use in 2022 i will have to pay a visit to crewe soon and see some old-school loco action 🎬 😎

Thanks. No idea of what was happening north of Carlisle. LSL were just covering Crewe to Carlisle which is, I think Network Rail's LNW division.
Great content, but! What was it recorded on Mobile Phone or video camera? Might be worth investing in a windsock to cut out all the wind noise.
On a camcorder - I have a muffler over the mic but am aware in strong direct wind more is needed
Boa tarde leslie muito trem 🚉 vários ótimo semana vc feliz Natal 🎅
Thanks and a happy Christmas to you

There are only the two colourful pendolinos and I suspect that the vinyls (not paint) were sponsored by the unit owners Angel Trains.

I got it les. 3706. Is that the deltic
No Pat - 37706 is a class 37 loco. The Deltics are much more muscular in appearance
@@LeslieGilpinRailways thank you very much
What class is the deltic
Class 55
