What Went Wrong on The Dorset Coast Statesman & Squadron at Harman's Cross

  • What a day its been. Went to Harman's Cross this morning so that I could see Squadron before it leaves. Then watching the mess that was the Statesman Railtour at Poole unfold. I feel bad for the people that paid 100's of pounds to go on it. Anyway I hope you enjoy the video.

    The issue is that the long swing link on a BT10B bogie is too close to the third rail for Network's regulations. We owned a few rakes of Mk. 3's and had to select the consist carefully if they were heading south, so that all had BT10A bogies with the shorter swing links. The coach isn't 'bad', just the bogies that are not suitable and TBH that's a major screw up from someone in the fleet allocation team, who has made a complete schoolboy error if they had any idea of the diagram it was going to be running
