Opal has always been my favorite gemstone, even though I was never wealthy enough to ever have a real one. I always wore my fake opal. My family would laugh at me, but I didn’t care. I wore it anyway and today I can afford to buy little opal but nothing it’s extravagant. That’s why I like to watch you cut and make this beautiful opal. Thank you and keep up the good work.
It depends what you like, I see really expensive ones and I’m like meh, then I see a relatively cheap one that I’m like wow that must be expensive, and they’re like $700 lol I just saw the contest part, I vote for you to win

It was actually the first video I watched of Robert cutting an Opal, that's when I fell in love with the colors in Opals and realized that every Opal is unique due to the play of color and the patterns that makes each one a one of a kind stone! Now, I just love Opals and cannot get enough of them.
Gutted I missed this when it went up! Ended up in hospital last night, I've just gotten home and now I'm watching!! You never disappoint this is stunning!! I love opal for its unexplainable magic in those sparkles, for it being always so different, and for this hypnotizing combination of roughness of he rocks and the most intense colors in the same piece. Every opal has such a unique character, you can watch them for ours and find something new every time even on the screen. Unimaginable how it would be to hold one for real! I've fallen for opals long before I knew how expensive they are, and even thought I never held one in my hands and only saw it on pictures and videos I feel drawn to those stones. I think to hold one uncut sparkling and flashing opal in your hand must feel like holding eternity itself. The current give away is such a stunning piece just the way it is!

I love opal because each piece is different and it is so fun to analyze, cogitate and explore to find the most beautiful gem possible when cutting. I absolutely love opal. How it’s mined, how it’s formed and how to cut and polish it. The colors are mesmerizing and I’d love for that opal that you are giving away to be my first attempt at making my very own opal gem to cherish forever.
I find the play of colour in opals amazing. It makes every gem unique. Diamonds may glitter but they can be cut as to be indistinguishable to the naked eye. Opals are as individual as the artist cutting them.

I have loved opal since I was a little boy when my mom told me it was my birthstone. I have sence been on the hunt for a masculine opal that I can wear as a ring. hard to explain why i love opal. i just do! I get lost looking into the depth of colors and every time I pick one up I see something new. A slight change in lighting, the exact angle I hold it, new tings appear and blend over to other arears and keep me hypnotized for hours sometimes. Cutting an opal and chasing the colors and trying to find the best face and shape and deciding what it's going to become, a ring, a necklace, earrings? it all comes together into one big hard to explain scenario. It's also my birthstone.
The reason why I love opal is because of its mesmerizing colors. There was a story I once heard that said, when they discovered opal they believed that it was formed because of the tears of angels mourning over humanity and when you look deep into an opal you can feel it. It is unlike any other Stone. It is a stone with its own Spirit. It's own character and its own personality

I love opal because of the absolutely breathtaking mesmerizing play of color that you can get especially with these Ethiopian opals I feel like sometimes the color I see in Ethiopian opal is absolutely just as stunning as an Australian Opal if not even more so. I also love that no two separate pieces of opal are exactly alike each one is like a little treasure chest just waiting to be opened. I ordered my first piece from you guys on eBay last week and I am so impressed I don’t even wanna cut it it’s already so pretty as a rough piece lol

I love opals because when i started cutting it really helped me flip n turn my life over n walk a different path then i was on. With that through the people ive come to know n connect with also been a part of that. Many people inspired me along the way n i hope to do the same with others. Lovely blue/red on black you have there. I just hope that, due to being Ethiopian opal, it's stable enough that it doesn't crack when it gets dry. That's why I would rather Australian opal any day of the week. Oh, and because I'm biased - being Indigenous Australian and all, plus my foster father was an opal miner in Lightning Ridge back in the 70's until not long before he passed away in 1999. I have a real affinity for opal - it's my birthstone - and I've collected rocks and crystals all of my life but never could afford much opal. I have one nice rough welo opal that I wirewrapped and wear proudly, and a necklace I made from Australian opal rondelles and a beautiful carved opal pendant I wirewrapped, as well. Sadly, I recently noticed that the pendant is cracked after 20 years of wear. I don't do lapidary, but if I had some nice rough I would take it to someone, and maybe replace my sad cracked one. Doesnt seem like its as bright as Australian opal, but it looked like it was pretty clean of inclusions, i havent seen much ethiopian opal though. How does the stayish come out value wise? A stone this size of aussie opal would be insanely expensive.

Opal has always been my favorite gemstone, even though I was never wealthy enough to ever have a real one. I always wore my fake opal. My family would laugh at me, but I didn’t care. I wore it anyway and today I can afford to buy little opal but nothing it’s extravagant. That’s why I like to watch you cut and make this beautiful opal. Thank you and keep up the good work.
It depends what you like, I see really expensive ones and I’m like meh, then I see a relatively cheap one that I’m like wow that must be expensive, and they’re like $700 lol

It was actually the first video I watched of Robert cutting an Opal, that's when I fell in love with the colors in Opals and realized that every Opal is unique due to the play of color and the patterns that makes each one a one of a kind stone!
Now, I just love Opals and cannot get enough of them.

Looking into an opal as it pivots side to side one time is like watching a fire at night for hours. Opals of green and blue remind you of the most beautiful green and blue waters shimmering in the sun. Then awe struck by galaxy opals that seem to capture the majesty of the entire universe in a work of art that can fit in a drop of water

I love opal for its unexplainable magic in those sparkles, for it being always so different, and for this hypnotizing combination of roughness of he rocks and the most intense colors in the same piece. Every opal has such a unique character, you can watch them for ours and find something new every time even on the screen. Unimaginable how it would be to hold one for real! I've fallen for opals long before I knew how expensive they are, and even thought I never held one in my hands and only saw it on pictures and videos I feel drawn to those stones. I think to hold one uncut sparkling and flashing opal in your hand must feel like holding eternity itself. The current give away is such a stunning piece just the way it is!
Robert I always pay close attention to your shows which is the reason I know all I do about cutting opal and confident in it now. I owe it to you brother. I find the play of colour in opals amazing. It makes every gem unique. Diamonds may glitter but they can be cut as to be indistinguishable to the naked eye. Opals are as individual as the artist cutting them.

I have loved opal since I was a little boy when my mom told me it was my birthstone. I have sence been on the hunt for a masculine opal that I can wear as a ring. hard to explain why i love opal. i just do! I get lost looking into the depth of colors and every time I pick one up I see something new. A slight change in lighting, the exact angle I hold it, new tings appear and blend over to other arears and keep me hypnotized for hours sometimes. Cutting an opal and chasing the colors and trying to find the best face and shape and deciding what it's going to become, a ring, a necklace, earrings? it all comes together into one big hard to explain scenario.
It's also my birthstone.

I love opal because of the absolutely breathtaking mesmerizing play of color that you can get especially with these Ethiopian opals I feel like sometimes the color I see in Ethiopian opal is absolutely just as stunning as an Australian Opal if not even more so. I also love that no two separate pieces of opal are exactly alike each one is like a little treasure chest just waiting to be opened. I ordered my first piece from you guys on eBay last week and I am so impressed I don’t even wanna cut it it’s already so pretty as a rough piece lol

I love opals because when i started cutting it really helped me flip n turn my life over n walk a different path then i was on.
With that through the people ive come to know n connect with also been a part of that.
Many people inspired me along the way n i hope to do the same with others.
Looking at the opals ive cut over the years really gives me some kind of peace of mind.
Hopefully ill be able to cut for many more years to come.❤

Lovely blue/red on black you have there. I just hope that, due to being Ethiopian opal, it's stable enough that it doesn't crack when it gets dry.
That's why I would rather Australian opal any day of the week. Oh, and because I'm biased - being Indigenous Australian and all, plus my foster father was an opal miner in Lightning Ridge back in the 70's until not long before he passed away in 1999.

I have a real affinity for opal - it's my birthstone - and I've collected rocks and crystals all of my life but never could afford much opal. I have one nice rough welo opal that I wirewrapped and wear proudly, and a necklace I made from Australian opal rondelles and a beautiful carved opal pendant I wirewrapped, as well. Sadly, I recently noticed that the pendant is cracked after 20 years of wear. I don't do lapidary, but if I had some nice rough I would take it to someone, and maybe replace my sad cracked one. Anyway, new subscriber here! Thanks for the lesson on Ethiopian opal and the many different qualities of the grades.

Doesnt seem like its as bright as Australian opal, but it looked like it was pretty clean of inclusions, i havent seen much ethiopian opal though. How does the stayish come out value wise? A stone this size of aussie opal would be insanely expensive.
