Honestly this is a perfect TH-cam video. I remember when they were pretty much all like this, very small amount of editing. Just capturing humans being humans in a very raw form. I remember my first time at the drag races. I was about 10 years old, I'm almost 60 now. My cheap ass Dad snuck me in through the back, into the pit yard. I actually got to meet Don Prudhomme. Well, actually he was asleep in a fold out chair, but I recognized him. No, I didn't disturb him, either. But hey, I give my Dad credit looking back on it now. I know I had a good time, lol!

@zesolodar I started going when I was a kid in the 60s. Of course, they didn't have this kind of power. My uncle had a front engine dragster and raced at several tracks in Colorado. Later, in the 80s, I remember you could stand almost next to the track at Bandimeer Speedway west of Denver, CO. A car's blower belt or something broke, sending shrapnel everywhere. To a teenager....that was awesome!!!! And BOY....could you feel the cars. It made your bones want to rattle out of your skin. You had to remember not to inhale when they went by.
It can get in your blood. I raced my muscle cars for about 10 yrs in club racing. My siblings still race.
It is a great way to spend the weekend, get some blood pumping.

That "Best day of my life" at the end actually brought a tear to my eye. So glad this guy got to EXPERIENCE (because that's what it is) this in his life. You just can't adequately describe what the experience is like to people. Yeah, it's loud but that's only part of it. You can really FEEL the concussions from the engines as they rip on by. And if you're lucky enough to have pit passes* when they're tuning those things you'll REALLY get to feel the potato sack being slammed into your chest when they blip the throttle. Oh, and you'll find little pieces of rubber stuck to your face when you look in the mirror later on.
    * I HIGHLY recommend ear and eye protection. Ears for the noise and eye protection for the nitro-methane fumes which will make your eyes water, big time.

I love watching this!... there ain't nuthin - and I do mean NUTHIN' - than two Top Fuelers duking it out side by side for 1,000 feet. 23,000+ HP just romping in, around, and through you. Pictures and videos simply don't do it justice. It has to be seen in-person to believe it.
I love this guy's reaction. Priceless! (Oh... been there, my man. Been there! 😆🙃😁)

That's great! There's no way to explain to someone the amount of power those things have. They just have to see it in person and feel the sound in their entire body to actually understand how insane those motors are! Truly takes your breath away, and then those sweet, sweet smells. Love it.

When I was a kid (in the 80's) dad took me every year to the winter nationals at Darlington, SC. We always sat on the concrete stand right beside the burnout and tree. I remember very clearly that sleeping in the stands was NO option! 😂 Top fuel will pull the air out of your lungs.

Regardless of how you film any motorsport, it never compares to seeing it in real life. You cannot get the speed accurate. You can't get the sound right. You don't get to feel the engine's rumble in your chest. I love this video, so glad I clicked on it.

I'm glad I got to see an NHRA event at Sears Point about 15 years ago. Words can't describe the rumble and the sound. Television cannot do it justice.
Of course it was a mix of different types of cars throughout the day, and they were all fun to watch, but the Top Fuel dragsters were the most mind blowingly loud.
Yeah I put my fingers in my ears on some of the runs, but on others I wanted the full experience. It was awesome.
