3 things I really appreciate about you and your channel: 1) You’re easy to listen to. The sound quality is nice - just a clear voice with a quiet background having a chat. 2) You’re an honest person with relatable feelings. Not too tough to be a bit vulnerable and real. 3) You keep the language respectful and clean and I appreciate that. My husband and I watch your videos and it’s nice to hear someone talk about a lot of the same things I experience. Thanks for another interesting chat!
Thanks Marie, I appreciate that. 1. The amount of times I have to do the video again because of noise...is ridiculous! I need silence. 2. Glad that comes across. I've no agenda on here except to talk openly to those who may want to listen. 3. I've promised myself not to swear on here. But rest assured, if I ever slip up...there will be a beep over it 😂
It's really good to see you in a good mood😆 now I am really sold on the book idea👍 I am following an account on Instagram of a person living in the stunning location but is also diagnosed with bipolar. From what she explained, the episodes of good vs bad moods are more like days, weeks and if untreated then the bad gets longer in proportion to the good getting shorter and it's not about daily mood swings, but the treatment which usually includes meds tries to level the moods to the average level, the more "normal" level. So obviously I am no expert but it feels like the questions could be a little bit more precise here, but they want you to contact them.
@@AdultwithAutism I love it when my comments are deleted by yt algorithm. So let's try again. I know you do have IG, I follow you there as well. When you mentioned Instagram for the first time, I found your account and gave it a follow as I usually do with YT/IG creators, but then I realised you only had about 55 followers there and felt a bit awkward, but never mind. It's a good idea with the reels/shorts you're doing there. The account I referred to in my previous comment is in Polish, but a couple of days ago I found a worth following account, I have tagged you under their bipolar post🙂 Let's see if it gets deleted without mentioning names.
Interesting video Paul! In relation to what others have said in the comments...many things you say are relatable to me as well. Here are some facts you might find interesting. C-PTSD (complex post-traumatic stress disorder) is often misdiagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and bipolar. This is also the case with autism in females. Adult women who have autism are most commonly diagnosed with BPD or bipolar first. Until later on it is discovered they actually have autism. All four of these diagnoses have many things in common just as ADHD has much in common with autism. Then add in anxiety and depression, which are commonly found within all of these above. Point is when going in for a psychological evaluation, for anything that involves the brain and emotions, be prepared to be taken around in circles for same years before you are accurately diagnosed. It's a really fun roller coaster ride. 😩
Hi Kris, Doesn't sound like a relaxed way to go into assessments. Not the same but in my assessment, I found the specialist attempting to ask the same questions in different ways at different points. At the time it annoyed me, but now I know it was for clarity and consistency. Still a long way to go in developing suitable assessments.
I am Living with a bipolar diagnose and am on litium, that I am sure I dont have and dont need. I know I have autism but I dont have it on paper. And I think I could have adhd. I scored 24 of 48 on the bipolar test. 42 of 48 on the adhd. And 27 of 30 on the autism test. I am 44(F) and bipolar is diagnose #4 I Got without geting tested. The other 3 where “taking back” and I think this one will too. I wish I would get testet for real, and not just 5-10 questions like the doctor have given me before. Right now I am fighting just to get Them to get me on a 2 year waitinglist to get tested. People suck.
The biggest issue within Autism has always been and will always be that they completely discount and ignore Autistic Adults, who could absolutely help in putting together suitable criteria. But for some reason, we're avoided like the plague.
Thank you for doing this. I have been trying to understand why my current partner with ASD triggers my parent wounds and the underlying anger you mentioned (called dysthymia in bipolar) is definitely one of them. There is an overlap between the two disorders.
First off you should just do a waffling video! Just 30 minutes of waffles! Wonderful! I took the test before the video this time and I scored a 16. Wow just on the boarder of bipolar. I think every sort of divergent condition has similarities. Take anxiety for example, I think it is the norm for anyone on the spectrum. Once I walk out the door of my house I have it! Sometimes in the house🤣. Its funny to me that angry is your normal. We only get to see the warm light hearted fellow with the awesome beard! I have tried to figure out my baseline as I my emotions can change in a flash. I think for me I am mostly up beat. Though when I hear the news or think about what is happening around it can change very fast, so like you I avoid the news. Wow episodes in one week! Fun! If you can’t think of a topic try the waffling video😂. Have a great rest of your weekend and keep smiling!
I really appreciate your opinions on cars and idiot drivers! Also "I am *always* irritable so yeah, I will say *often*". Hehehe Love it! Thank you for being so human about this: well yeah, this is just being human. Indeed my wise friend
1. Alot 2. Yes often 3. Yes frequently 4. Yes pretend to be happy when not frequently 5. Yes when really depressed quality of work is affected 6. Yes cry then happy 7. Yes optimistic and then hopeless 8. Yes 9. Sometimes 10. Yes 11. Yes, i think im also collecting the set of diagnoses. 😂
I scored 31 on the bipolar test. 68 on PTSD - This is well known for me though given all the traumas I’ve experienced throughout my life. I was diagnosed with this in 2012 although I’m sure I’ve experienced PTSD since I was 18 years old (1992).
Possible 21/48(44) (44 seems to be the maximum score) I'm pretty sure I have hypomanic episodes and I think my answers are biased because of the options "sometimes" and "often". Or, maybe "often" just means less frequent than "ofte" in Norwegian :p I've had depression most of the time and didn't change that often. The fine print at the bottom says: "This test was adapted from: Goldberg Bipolar Spectrum Screening Questionnaire, a Screening Test for Bipolar Spectrum Disorders." This test has 12 questions and doesn't use "sometimes" and "often", and I scored 43/60. It's interesting to do tests like this and reflect on wether or not it applies to me - but, as you also point out, try not to rely too much on them. There are so many things that can skew the result. regards
Hey Paul! I scored a 7! I'm a very linear person. I don't really have any swings in personality. Unless angry to angrier counts. Hahaha One of the questions irritated my brain "do you feel really irritable at times or sped up?" i think the question was. It had me thinking what does irritated and sped up have to do with each other!?! Are they saying you can't be totally relaxed and irritated at the same time!?! Because i totally can be! Hahaha When i'm asked questions like that and expected to answer multiple choice that winds me up. Wait... maybe that's what they meant. No wonder in school my teachers would always look at me with a funny face and say we'll get to that later when i asked "How am i supposed to answer this question with the choices given here? Can i just write my own answer?" Hahaha I'm with Bryan on a video of just waffling! Thanks Paul! Still Smiling!
Haha, I would say 'what would I waffle about?', but I am pretty sure from the evidence of my videos that I wouldn't have a problem filling a video of nonsense emptying out of my brain!
I literally paused this and I hate doing it, but whos sex drive doesn't fluctuate? Especially for a women and depending on there monthly. Makes a huge difference I think. But then again im not really sure about myself because of past trauma, i wonder if id be more into or not if i had had a normalish child hood? It's something im looking into because i dint knownwhat i want I've spent my whole life looking out for everyone else's needs. Its curious. 19:36 seriously! I have to brush my teeth in a very specific way and sometimes I forget how... Its so bizzard. To be honest I'm scared to take this test because my mom has it and was very abusive and neglectful. And so I equate bipolar with abuse.... Trauma am i right? 😂
"Why are you so angry?" "Because of other people! Duh" Can you remember from your childhood, when did the anger start? I think form me it was around when I was 10-11 years old. At that age I started to understand that most other people, especially other children are pretty sh*tty, and it's not actually going to get any better.

I've got an IG account, although never really use it, but let me know the handle and I'll give it a follow to learn a bit more if they post about it.

It seems to be deleting a lot of comments recently for some reason.
This one has stayed on at least 😂

“bumping me gums right now talking to you” that made me laugh. I haven’t heard that expression before. Two videos in a row is a bonus. Thank you.
Haha, no problem 😂
Yes a nice surprise indeed!
Laughing out loud at the whole petrol ⛽️ story.. didn’t even occur to me that a majority of people probably wouldn’t do this 😂
I need fuel today, already wondering what I'll forget 😂

Listening to the test questions I can see why so many autistic and ADHD people are misdiagnosed as bipolar.
True, mental conditions are very closely linked, it's why it's so important to find which one (or ones) are accurate!
Thank you for doing this. I have been trying to understand why my current partner with ASD triggers my parent wounds and the underlying anger you mentioned (called dysthymia in bipolar) is definitely one of them. There is an overlap between the two disorders.
Always thought provoking and relatable! Please do OCD test next.
An OCD test, will do 👍🏻

Haha, I'll probably end up doing a waffle video at some point and call it 'Why I Get On People's Nerves' 😂
I really appreciate your opinions on cars and idiot drivers!

I resonate so much with this type of video but my psychiatrist would rather give me an OCD label than an ASD label.
I scored 31 on the bipolar test.

Heart goes out to PTSD. Worked with a lot of people with it. Not a fun ride at all.

Yes, people should not rely on them as a measure at all. More to satisfy a mild curiosity 👍🏻

Online tests are not a respectful value of a true measure. Don't fear them 👍🏼

Probably around the same age, and the more I attempt to understand people, the worse it gets!
