Since about age 10, this has been among my favourite classical pieces! I love how Lang Lang interprets a piece. The only other time I’ve heard an equally joyful performance of this song was by Liberace! And I absolutely love Lang Lang’s joie de vivre! I could watch him all day! I hope he comes to Canada sometime soon!
God he played the song like an absolute Maniac I love it! The entire piano shaking, his emotions, him sweating profoundly just shows how much he poured his blood and soul just for the performance of this song! Well played Lang Lang!
This guy is great but Alexander Brailowsky was the very interpreter of Chopin! The absolute master of Chopin on the piano. He plays this piece second to none.
In terms of the playing technic Lang is second to none, but for this particular Chopin's Polonaise named also "the Heroic" I find some emotional imperfections.
Well now - - the sheer vulgarity of this rushed-through "I-have-to-catch-a-train" performance is one for the books, as they say. Was it musically played? Most pianists would have to say 'no', although technically it was rather good. To be charitable, we could say that he was tired, and just wanted to get through it in a minimum amount of time. However, if this was the case, couldn't he have easily tossed off a waltz by Chopin, rarher than the strenuous polonaise? In any event, I'd like to think that under less stressful circumstances, he'd probably do more justice to this popular warhorse.
his playing style has changed. because he obviously be human, so he also be affected by the surrounding environment. for example, his wife Gina. you can read it from his hearstyle and facial features.😊
You know what his encore was when I heard him play?? After playing the Goldberg Variations in their entirety…WITH repeats… Für Elise. I mean…he nailed, obvs. But I was hoping for a Prokofiev toccata or something…
Just came here after listening to Horowitz playing this, almost couldn’t recognise it as same piece of music. Apologies to Lang Lang but I prefer Horowitz
th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxNPWBV9YOqrmVyup9DpXeAul0vjFtEKgW I think many of the commenters are missing the point that someone alerted conductor Mehta that Lang Lang was in the audience that night. You can see Mehta stick his baton between his teeth to help ready the piano. The pianist had no pre-performance familiarity with the instrument or its action, and you can see audio and visual techs rushing around stage-right to set up unanticipated camera and microphone angles for the big screen TV at the venue. The surprise and delight on the faces on the orchestra members is apparent. I love this performance because the pianist literally plays it in the style of an improvisation. Many people here are describing Lang Lang as a maniac, a poor player, and an egotist. I see no evidence of that: rather, I see exuberance, exhilaration, and the adrenaline that one would expect in a concert pianist who had not had the opportunity to warm up for several hours as generally occurs pre-performance--and who was suddenly called upon as a gift to the audience. Bravo. I ATTACH A CLIP I MADE OF THE BEGINNING OF THE VIDEO AS LANG LANG IS CALLED FROM THE AUDIENCE TO PLAY. th-cam.com/users/clipUgkxNPWBV9YOqrmVyup9DpXeAul0vjFtEKgW
... Widać że obcokrajowcy nie znają naszej kultury.

I’ve been listening to other pianists tackling this piece and it’s good to hear an interpretation such as Lang langs.

what a crunchy, textured, expressive, freight train of a performance
This piece is no fun to play at all, pretty hard one actually. However, he tried to take it by storm :) It's still quite a well-played performance
Russian pianist Alexander Brailowsky was the master pianist of Chopin.
His rendition of this piece is second to none.
MAGNIFICENT.
Lang lang, new, greatest pianist(musician) of all times! Next to Vladamir Horowitz!
Gift from our Creator!! Bless him!!
Lo más maravilloso es oírte !!❤❤😊
Chopin was a genius... and Lang Lang's performance is worthy of him, if he hears his playing from the heavenly world, he must be very satisfied too.
Ciao, Lang Lang è fantastico!!!

In terms of the playing technic Lang is second to none, but for this particular Chopin's Polonaise named also "the Heroic" I find some emotional imperfections.
Honestly, I like this version better than his studio version...

Rubinstein's interpretation of this iconic piece is better.
He’s got another performance where he plays this piece much better. Will have to agree. Did not keep the appropriate tempo.

Weird take, he's playing Chopin like a baroque virtuoso. Interesting but weird
