  • Steinway Artist Lang Lang performs Beethoven's "Für Elise" on the Lang Lang Steinway Black Diamond Limited Edition. Of the piece, Lang Lang says: “For me it is very romantic, and light, like a feather. It has to come from nowhere and it has to touch people. It can’t just be treated as background music. I’ve tried to play the piece as the masterpiece that it is, and I hope that children who begin learning 'Für Elise' will treat it the same way.”

the backstory behind the song is basically: he taught a girl called elise who sucked at piano, fell in love, wrote a song even she could play, learned she was married and then expanded on the piece to make it so she would never be able to play the full piece correctly
this song is literally made from spite and pettyness

Für Elise always gives me chills when played right, but this… this was a whole other level. They played it so well, you could tell they poured their soul into the piece. Some might say they look ridiculous, but these movements in a pianist signify that the pianist feels the music. I can rarely get this feeling myself, but Lang Lang did this perfectly. He can give notes weight, or make them fly. He can stretch them, and make them bounce, and rebound. He is an artist at the highest level, eliciting things from the piano that I have never heard from other players.

    Thank you Lang Lang.
    First you listen to music,
    Then you like,
    You then love it,
You then get attached to it.
Then you let music come into you, your ears, your heart your soul.
Then you let go of yourself and immerse yourself in music
    Then you become the music.
    THEN THE MUSIC becomes YOU.

I had tears welling up in my eyes it was so good. Even though he only knew part of it and he was new at learning the piano, that little bit of music he played was honestly the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard on the piano. I'm sure that's the reason. Only kidding. Perfect combination of instrument and artist's soul.

I love heavy dubstep, but something about the way this is played just moves you to the core, the emotion brought on by the passion within the pianist just…makes sense, beautiful

The good music always makes me cry, I can't tell the reason, but only think it's so beautiful.

Timing, touch, and a great sounding piano makes Lang Lang's interpretation unique.

Fantastisch. Thank you so very much.
Your version is so sweet, delicate and tender, like a swiff of perfume hanging in the air, like a loving memory of lost love.

Oh my gosh this is superb!! I can actually see Elise in front of him, totally in sync with Beethoven’s soul. His fingers are caressing her body with passion, tenderness and pain.
I’ve never seen anyone played this piece with this depth of interpretation.

Anyone can learn this, but the expression in the dynamics and touch Lang Lang just showed takes years of practice to achieve.

Played beautifully, to perfection, a lot of people rush it and play it too fast.

Besides congratulating the person who is playing the song, why not give a shout out to Ludwig van Beethoven who actually composed this beautiful song. ONE! TWO! THREE! Good job Beethoven! Any good job Lang Lang for playing this song!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
