God, I still remember hearing this song for the first time when it came out and becoming instantly obsessed. I used to listen to Fantastic Planet from beginning to end over and over and over. I can’t think of another album that has ever affected me the way FP did except maybe Alice in Chains’ “Dirt”. The weird thing was that nobody around me ever really even acknowledged Failure. I knew no other fans until I met a dude back in 2004/2005 while deployed to the Middle East, and it was like meeting a long-lost brother for the first time.
ConanTheRepublican It’s crazy just how memorable the discovery was for us and yet so many more still don’t even know them. I’m so thankful for the fact that I didn’t miss out!
W0weeZ0wee I’m kinda glad it didn’t. The few times i saw them in the 90’s were all intimate performances at smaller venues- except Lollapalooza of course. Until they regrouped, being a failure fan was like being in a secret cult with their music being stuff of legend.
This was interesting for me. I had heard the APC version first but I never thought it was a cover. Then one day I got into Failure and I was like, woah, no way, that was a cover? and from that day I realised how superior the Failure version is.
It's wild I remember being 19 watching this same video on TH-cam like it was yesterday. I was slowly becoming a huge Failure fan, but I still hadn't found a CD of Fantastic Planet. Got one a year later in 08. It's just weird that this video is 17 years old when it feels like I watched it a couple of years ago.
You sir, know damn well what you're talking about. I was sucked into Failure when I heard APC's cover of "The Nurse Who Loved Me." I downloaded the original on a whim and was just blown away. I've been a Failure/YotR/On/Replicants/Autolux/Ken Andrews fan ever since.
I stopped lending out my copy of FP because those fuckers kept stealing it and I'd have to buy it again. Now I just sit their ass down and play it for them then and there. That album was a life-changer for me and I spread the gospel whenever I can.
I will never forget hearing SOU for the first time....... It Projected me to some nebula far far away... Unforgettable Album..CLASSIC SLICE of untarnished music..."Smoking Umbrellas" is my close 2nd on Fantastic Planet.... Love Failure
I think the most impressive part of the harmony is the flatted third as a major chord. It's surprising how that doesn't melodically clash. And doesn't the overall lick kinda mixolydian sounding? I d'know. It's late and I'm tired and impressed. Great composition.
@@jamiesloan5902 Been there, mate. I'm not always a Beato fan, but I do check out a lot of those vids. By the way, I can't believe that last comment is 9 years old. I was a li'l runt back then...
lol no wonder i couldn't get the sound for the intro, its a distortted piano...its so high pitched i snapped my high e string trying to find the sound haha
@@guitaristssuck8979 I agree, it can get ugly real quick. Maybe people should start being anti-trolls, just be nice to each other, as a form of trolling haha!

I had to double check that this wasn't my post.
The other albums are also great.
In the late 90s I was hooked on heroin and all I listened to was failure , HUM and mogwai and slide in and out of consciousness.
Dirt was fucking perfection, too
Another musical genius born and raised in Seattle. I'm not surprised.
One of the best bands in the 90's hands down.
Ken Andrews is a badass! All his productions show his unique abilities.
ken is such a fucking genius with his production it is insane
Ken Andrews is the man.
Holy fuck, I left this comment 10 years ago. What the fuck. Time went by fast.
Vato From the Astral Plane Even a reunion in the meantime lol. Cool stuff
I love this band so much this album permanently carved into my brainstem
blows my mind how this song didn't make them blow up mainstrem

so awesome, hooked my keyboard into my guitar amp turned distortion up, sounds identical to intro, so cool.
Ken, Greg and Troy all favor unique chord structures, tunings and arrangements. They are all unorthodox players.
absolutely beautiful! ken and his bands kill it!
Very cool, thanks. Fantastic Planet is one of THE best albums from the 90's -- easily in the top 5 for me. Just an amazing record.
I have had to buy this album 3 times that i played it too much...still one of my favorite albums all these years

"buy this cd"
I would love to...
This is terrific.
weezer probably worships this guy. Sorry, he's on a different level than weezer.
^^
Failure is your favorite band’s favorite band.
Beautiful
Incredible
apc brought me to failure too =) and fantastic planet changed my life. the music on it is just so good
Can't believe the intro is a distorted piano!
idk why this was recommended BUT THANK YOU TH-cam
love kens jazzmaster
the first time i heard "stuck on you" was about 4 months after Failure broke up :(

JohnnyNosebleed Go watch Rick Beato "What makes this song great". He does a complete analogy on it.

On and Failure! God! How I love Space Rock!
yes....pretty amazing how anything cool can be re-arranged.
I just discovered them about a month ago. I have all three Failure cds, Kens 'SotLS" and i'm looking for autolux
15 years later and I see 619 thumbs up and I’m not not going to mess that up.
Wish Ken would've shown how to play Moth, or at least Solaris. Both were possibly their best tunes...
Woah! I hope Greg does one for Bernie
Will you ever play in singapore ?
he spent much time in san diego
very cool
apc brought Failure to me. now i cant decide which band is better.
when was this interview this is kewl
2007 after the ken andrews casbah show
Awesome!!
lol no wonder i couldn't get the sound for the intro, its a distortted piano...its so high pitched i snapped my high e string trying to find the sound haha
Failure is the greatest band of all time. Forever. Full Stop.
pnptcn On is also awesome
It's amazing that geniuses like Greg and Ken ended up working together for a while. It's hard enough to find a band with one genius, Failure had two!
THANK YOU!
Amazing how many other YT videos tabbing this song incorrectly
love when radio stations does this live performing & really gets deep to the song
Ken Andrews down to earth personality reminds me of Evan Dando from the Lemonheads
🔥
He says he's playing F# and A# but to me it looks as if he's playing F#min and A#min. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It's F#5 and A#5 really, but if you were to play full barre chords, it would be F#min and Amaj
Secrets revealed!!
or people think good enough is enough when the threshold for creation is hardly being pushed. :/
What Weezer song is that?
he’s saying it sounds like it could be a weezer song
if he played in in a major key..... it turns to weezer...

Esus2 Gsus2
"sus" alone doesn't make sense
True, but in his defense, he did mention the 9 or the 2, so... yeah 😄
@@nedim_guitar I was referring to the fact they didn't specify it on the screen, I wasn't criticizing Ken

lool :))
Count me as one of the people who heard and totally loved Failure long before APC existed. I don't really even care for APC, either.
