  • Failure was one of the most underrated bands in the 90's. Their album Fantastic Planet is an absolute masterpiece in composition, execution, and production. If you have not heard the album, you should take a moment to write it down as its worth your time! Failure influenced many bands to come after them. Finally well over a decade later the album has been re-released on vinyl and is getting some recognition due to bands like 'A Perfect Circle' who covered a song from Fantastic Planet on their official release.
    Here is wikipedias crap description:
Failure was an American rock band (often also classified as alternative rock and/or space rock) that was active from 1990 to 1997, during which they recorded and released three critically acclaimed albums. They are often compared to other hard rock bands from that time that were similarly labeled as "alternative", such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, or Bush, but are distinguished by their meticulous attention to textural sonic detail, inventive use of guitar effects and signal processing, and the overall expansive sound design of their later albums.

I was here at this show with my Toy Subs guitar player, Alex, and Dug Pinnick of King's X. We were off to left of the camera in this vid, but enjoyed every minute of it. I met drummer, Kellii (who was relentless), at this show, and he came over to party at my apartment afterwards. Great guy, and one of the fantastic bands on this planet. Sgt Politeness was a staple in our set because it was right up my alley, and I pushed for them any chance I got. So happy this show was captured, and stoked for the new album coming out! The performance is spot on and they have the confidence of the music carrying them. Truly one of my favorite performances I've seen on TH-cam right next to the "Ween live in Chicago" DVD and Unknown Mortal orchestra on KEXP.

Go about five minutes in, you see the drummer's kit. That thing is a monster. love the light tom mounted on the right side. That's clever.
His bass drum and ride are both oversized. that looks like it would be fun as fuck to play.

Such an incredible performance, I've got chills! Solaris was my favorite performance due to the dynamics, especially during the second verse when he grunts "ghost". Everything just explodes into high action then the calm resurfaces, hypnotizing me once again. Pure bliss.
