Great informative video but I want to call you out on not sharing your salary when it’s clear that money is an important factor to you and everyone else. Especially during a time where the market is an employers’ market. I understand it’s not comfortable but if you’re trying to strive for better pay, don’t you realize that being transparent helps others with their negotiations too? And in turn, everyone becoming transparent about their salaries is what helps employees (including you) leverage this knowledge when in negotiations and get higher pay. You obviously did not have to give specific numbers but a more specific range would help prospective workers in your field. It’s also lowkey clickbait to have “salary negotiations” in your title and not going into the details. Really hope you understand this POV and why so many others (like myself) advocate for pay transparency. Finally, most importantly, what you make does not signify how valuable or significant you are as a person. Your personality and actions do.
I been in marketing with startups for years and I am having a hard time getting a job, ( I’m applying to Digital marketing Specialist, Director of Marketing, Marketing Manager) in any industry at this point. what job titles are you applying and are you apply to marketing roles in finance? Do you have any resume tips on how to structure it like are you using certain job titles? Any tips will help❤
I know salaries in NYC are higher bcs all the companies know how much life in New York costs, but me being an IT manager with more than 10 years experience in IT (having done job hopping btw) and having a base salary of 68000 EUR in Europe compared to 100K USD (and that was on the lower side???) for someone fresh out of college...well, can't say that I didn't feel jealous at first. Then again, as you said, money is not everything if you don't have the balance in your life and mental health, then...also, you are not taking this money away from me, so why should I even be jealous, let's just say I am surprised by the differences in salaries all over the world and in different professions. But I have been really invested in your journey and I am so glad you finally got an offer and that it looks like a new beginning for you! Can't wait to see your future vlogs about how the work is, I am hoping you will keep up with the content even if you will be busier.
Would it be possible for you to send me the video you took when you did the job interview. I am currently trying to get into Banking and need some assistance and guidance.
