i just quit my investment banking job - come join my journey as I navigate this new chapter of my life as a 23 year old living in nyc :’)
I remember working so hard to land my dream job as an investment banker working on wall street, but i quit after 1 year because my goals and visions changed completely… here, I’m documenting my life in my early 20s as I figure out how to navigate this new chapter. Come join me and let’s see where this period of “self-discovery” and unemployment brings us :') 🧸🎀☁️

What major did u take in bachelors?
Main take-away: The best thing about being an investment banker is the food. 😋
wall street sucks
I worked at Blackstone. Analysts worked till 3am and were still expected to be in by 9am. 😮😮
Since when is doing laundry, going to the gym, going to dinner with friends considered "work hours"?
Hi Angie! I would like to become an investment banker because I'm training on financial edge for it! Can you help me with that!?.
That is oakland lake you were walking around on Sat, lols. I worked in Sales/Trading side of the bank in the early 2010s, then quit, then started daytrading on my own while i was living near by that Oakland Lake for a few yrs, lols.
This is nothing like Industry 😮. I want a refund MAX!
Ohh which company you work for?
👍👍🇬🇷🇬🇷✌️✌️📈📈
Patrick bateman
Today she is an unemployed banker in NYC
I just want to know what she doing in all those hours like what type of work
Sad
What degree course do you need to get into investment banking? Is an MBA essential to get into investment banking?
overrated profession, overrated people
Very long hours. Might be better working in Big Tech in Silicon Valley. Many workers became millionaires working at Nvidia , Google, and Apple while working not as many hours.
Oh and by the way Great Video!
Thank you!
Yes but how much do you get paid? I worked as a retail manager 60+ hours a week in a store with thousands of customers and hundreds of employees and I only made $108K in today's dollars?
Indeed it is a shitty life.
Be honest are you a fuerdai?
@@smann7236 not at all but i wish i was 😭😭😭
ibankers at tier 1 banks don't "waste" so much of their junior's time because they have very efficient MDs and meetings with clients, proactively addressing and making clear the work details, minimizing follow ups. from experience, it's the tier 2/3 banks that work their junior staff to death because of the constant shifting of gears and lack of ability in "managing the client".
Needs to read Cal Newport and David Allen. I am sure the money is great but it’s not sustainable. The only job with crazier hours are chef’s which have high rates of substance abuse and depression unfortunately.
Marry me
You look healthier and happier than your investment banking days 👍
this looks Ike something ok for someone in early to mid 20s for 5-8 years. But probably not good for someone long term especially into their late 30s or even 40s
Can make more per hour working at McDonalds. Why would anyone ever put themselves through this. All that eating out is going to catch up with you as well. "Mental health walk" like jesus even in prison you get to go outside 1hr per day.
How do you know? She hasn't said how much she earns. I'm guessing it's at least five or six times what a full-time McDonald's worker makes.
@@GNMi79 first year analyst prob makes 100k base 100k bonus working 80-100hrs a week. Assuming 100k total as bonus is discretionary and 90hrs / week for 52 weeks = $21 / hr. In CA minimum wage is like 17/hr and 18/hr in SF. Obviously a bit exaggerated but i think the point stands
It's not just this industry. Everybody in their 20s in other industries are jumping around and have the same idea/thoughts/feelings where we just want to work and be happy.
Yes! i can attest to this.. 90% of my friends who graduated with me have either quit/ pivoted, or dread their current 9-5 and want to pivot
does not sound like a job to be passionate about as many corporate jobs are
this is a totally realistic depiction, this is the slog most people have to do for a few years. It gets better 🙏 hope you manage to avoid the burnout!
How has it been 6 months since you last made a video??? :O I remember it like it was yesterday. WTH. I am so glad to hear though that you have been enjoying your job and I am very thrilled to hear that there are jobs in marketing that are more data driven, bcs I purposefully kept myself out of that area bcs I felt like there would be nothing in it for me. Now I feel like I Need to look into it more. Honestly when you were still in banking, I watched your videos and really worried for you, you looked so worked to the bone, mentally drained and I am so happy that you can just put down the mouse at 5 pm and do whatever. It's really why I never wanted to go into teaching bcs work doesn't stop when the lessons stop, it takes so much time afterwards to develop tests, assignments, correct tests, write plans and stuff after school and I always hated it. I have been unemployed since January and it only seems NOW that I might be getting an offer. It has been a crazy year, I'm not in the US but even here in Europe job hunting has been extremely hard. So cross your fingers pls that I get this job and I can start the new year off in a new job bcs my money is running out LOL
@@Sjudit84 manifesting for you!! You will get the job that you want!! And I knowwww the last 6 months flew by soo fast I can’t believe I’m already doing my year end review. If you’re interested in data and technical side of marketing I’d def recommend looking into campaign management, growth marketing, performance marketing and product marketing. Thank you for sticking around all this time and watching my journey I am rooting for you❤️
Wishing you the best!
Whats ur bachler degree name?
@@Mrking1-g5d bachelors in business administration (major in finance and management info systems)
Would you be able to share what Excel skills you used in investment banking vs. marketing? Maybe even a tutorial? Thank you!
@@nixjoanne yes for sure! This has been in the pipeline for me haha just figuring out which topic specifically in excel
Congratulations!!Good luck to your new journey!!!
heyyy girlie! i've been watching your vlogs since your investment banking days and i'm so so proud of you for achieving so much and for making big steps and changes in your life for the better. i hope everything's well for you esp this holiday. more power and can't wait for your next upload! <3
@@syzrixii awww thank you so much this means a lot to me!! Happy holidays 🫶🫶
I’m in my early 20s and also pivoting. Still in college though. It makes me really happy to see other people find their paths and stay true to themselves! It’s very inspiring. I hope I find my way as well! As someone who never really gave myself time to explore properly, it’s hard to see life as non-linear and deal with uncertainties. I would love to hear more about your journey!
@@Wonder503 yess you will find your way! Esp if you’re still in college and realizing now that your goals and plans will continue to evolve and shift. I also feel like I didn’t get to explore much in college and really just focused on stability and securing a job asap - but once you start working you’ll start to learn a lot about what you like & dislike doing. Rooting for you❤️❤️
MISS YOU ANGIE, MORE TH-cam VIDS

What do you use to edit your videos??

i missed you!
Love youuu🥹❤️❤️
That looks like Be Here Now! I love Ram Dass. I'm lucky enough to live in a place where we even have monthly get-togethers and listen to some of his talks.
been following your journey on instagram but i’m so happy that you’re back on youtube!!!
Thank you for sticking around 🥹❤️
Hit 200k today. I'm really grateful for all the knowledge and nuggets you had thrown my way over the last months. Started with 14k in March 2024
Wow that's huge, how do you make that much monthly? I'm 37 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
Yeah, since meeting expert Brisa, I now agree that with an expert managing your portfolio, the rate of profit high, with less risk.❤❤
I will advise you stop trading on your own if you keep losing. And i don't trade on my own anymore, I always required help and assistance
Venturing into crypto as a newbie was very difficult due to lack of experience which resulted in loosing funds..... But Brisa Richardson, restored hope shes a good woman
After i raised upto 125k trading with her, I bought a new house here in the states also paid for my son's surgery (Kelvin) glory to God.
so valuable hearing this!!
@@jaydenlay yaay I’m glad!! 🙂↕️
