    ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Through his profound wisdom and eloquent explanations, he effortlessly translates profound concepts into simple language, making the profound philosophy understandable for everyone.

When I was young around 6/7 years old I had this intuitive obsession with simply resonating with pure consciousness, it’s hard to explain but it was like a perception of the oneness that lies behind the entirety of duality.
I was born in the UK with no spiritual teachers around me but as I grew older I also had this fascination with being able to be awake at the point I fell asleep.
I would have lucid dreams and have unconscious premonitions in my dreams and conscious premonitions while awake.
As I grew a bit more older around 9/10 years old I would enjoy generating love and compassion and feeling butterflies rising in my stomach as I simple admire the beauty of the landscape and horizon from my bedroom window. I would focus on rising these feelings which would flow up my spine and make my whole body tingle and feel like every feel was electrified and even this energy would feel like it would flow past my head and out around me towards the rest of the universe like connecting with oneness.
Now I understand these things in great detail but they came to me naturally!

Finally we have reached a level where we know that we don't know 'something' that's consciousness. Swamiji is eloquently brilliant, and one needs to shed the objectivity bias to understand these great philosophers. Perhaps a good point to start would be to understand the difference between objectivity and subjectivity. Maybe we will realise the subjectivity is Brahamam. But then that would be nirvana

When ever I look around or take a walk, this is direct experience to myself of myself. When "this" is dropped, I picture a leaf becoming asundre from a tree, soundlessly this descends to the ground. As the leaf is placed, the object has always been one by its grace, as a forest bows to winter beneath its deep white silence, pure consciousness is the silence within, a peace of One.....

Excellent discussion went on. Its not at all like an interview with questions n answers. There is valuable information from both sides to make it as a special n successful program. There was a real sense of understanding about consciousness. Without understanding there is no consciousness.
Understanding is a wonderful key n divine aspect of consciousness.
Consciousness is created by the body cells without cells there won't be any consciousness. Its a divine power of the cells from all over the body. Consciousness is nothing but the light of the living cells.. ..in my opinion.
    Profound Regards n prayers.rd

Sarvapriyananda great great and a great Guru to explained this day of science and technology is at its pinnacle, the simple consciousness importance and it's recognition through vedantic scriptures. Profound guru to get in life itself is a boon
Coz we used hear about rishis and sidhas etc etc.

The interviewer should learn how to be reticent while questioning. Long winding statements are not apt for interviewing. It seems she is more concerned about flaunting her own knowledge

Everytime I see/hear hosts like her (she belongs to a left lobby) - I get more interested to see how someone like Swamiji manages the situation. Staying calm and speaking eloquently even under skeptic tone of the interviewer. This is Vedanta in practice in the real world. 🙏

The interviewer must work on her listening skills. Allow Swamiji to talk rather than jumping into multiple stuffs in one go. But very insightful discussion. Pranam Maharaj

      What about Tamil texts?
Many northern part of India may thinking that sanskrit is the oldest language in India. They have to be taught correctly. Fortunatly, Indian PM tell the truth that Tamil is much older than Sanskrit, and has profound ideas.
      What is Aasivagam ?
The Tamil phrase "யாதும் ஊரே யவரும் கேளிர்" is a famous saying attributed to the ancient Tamil poet Kaniyan Poongundranar ( 3000 years back) It translates to "To us all towns are one, all men our kin" in English. This phrase emphasizes the idea of universal brotherhood, unity, and the concept that all people are connected and should be treated with respect and equality regardless of their background or where they come from. It conveys a message of inclusivity, unity, and the importance of seeing humanity as one large family.
      Guys, kindly search about Thirukkural.

Wrong. She seemed to be more knowledgeable than the swamiji. Didn't you see how swamij avoided the question regarding difference between nondualism and dualism sects of Vedanta.

Swamiji, you explained well: When subtle objects like the sweetness, pain, colour etc. are experienced, different parts of the brain are firing. But these subtle objects are ideas and are not made up of gross matter, as I understand 😊
