  • "I am without attachment, without attachment am I, say this truth again and again, meditate upon this truth, I am of the nature of existence, knowledge and bliss absolute, I am without decay, change and death, I verily am!"
    Inspired by this vedantic hymn, Swami Sarvapriyananda speaks on the spiritual practice of detachment.

    ABOUT VEDANTA
    Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT US
    Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

    Never was a talk so relevant to my life. I was so stressed out with college, exams, failure and life in general. The moment I saw this video, it talked directly to something deep within me and was in tears all the while of this video. It was so deep, it was so true, it was a direct experience of unattachement.

I was seeking calmness and happiness in outside 25 years of my golden life wasted till god guided me to indian spirituality and dear swamijis I quit drug and alcohol gradually but the best years of me missed .why no school and university teaches sprituality to students? if only I knew myself in teenage years now why again school lessons are the same govs must include sprituality lessons to their schedules ? I think the biggest brands dont want humans consume less ! So they dont choose politicians who are their slave in the whole world the story is same😠

    I know exactly what he is talking about. I had this I AM that I AM experience when I was 19 years old. I didn't know what "enlightenment" was then I didn't even know what Hinduism was or mysticism. What I did know was that the religion I was raised in was no longer working for me and I began to really search within. My "enlightenment" came by way of vigilant introspection and asking the right and high quality questions of myself. I want to say I was guided by wisdom herself, or God or the Holy Spirit because how could I have known what questions to ask to begin with?! But I did... and I walked around in an almost trance like state for about a week. The veil was lifted from my eyes and I saw God everywhere as everything. Exactly the way Vivekananda and many other describe. My experience did not last because I was ignorant about how to further maintain it and overtime I became part of the world again but I never forgot that time. Ever since, nothing was ever enough, nothing ever compared or came close. Not for 15 years but I am now finding my way there all over again, and I am excited to return home.

    • @davids8443
      @davids8443 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I too had this same experience. In the years since I have learned that by holding on and seeking such I only got farther away from the truth of what that experience was pointing to. States and experiences come and go. But there is nothing to grasp and no one to grasp it. I am is the unchanging witness. We are always already home.

      I had the same experience of gaining enlightenment and falling back into the world, it's more common than you think. Even Plotinus admitted he only experienced true bliss 2 or 3 times in his entire life. We rise and fall and repeat. We are always becoming. To claim total enlightenment is missing the mark. I know you'll back on the path as many others have.

    Hari ॐ। I have never watched any video 'other than this' till date without fast forwarding.
    This video is about the ROYAL SECRET revealed in Upanishads and Geeta. This video is about the Knowledge after knowing which there remains nothing to be known. This is the core of the eternal knowledge propounded in Hinduism. That's why the Hinduism is known as Sanatana - the Eternal. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat. 🇮🇳

    With this class I got the answer to my questions raised in past, i am terrified and bored of this dream, when will I wake up?
    I am not asleep, my mind is! I am already awake. Doesnt matter if mind is asleep, I just don't have to let it transfer its qualities on me. Let it be asleep or terrified or bored! 😊🙏

    The true self and universe and life that we are experiencing two levels of reality.The true Self never affected by appearance of this life and universe.
    Like dream world appears while dreaming and does not affect waking state.This dream world is creation of our mind.
    Similarly this waking world is also the projection of consciousness like dream world and doesn't affect the consciousness which is the ultimate reality.
    We are that consciousness.
    This is very good point for mediation.

  • @ashutoshkachare2534
    @ashutoshkachare2534 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    True Self is unattached to all objects of this universe including our body and mind.
    Hence we can see our thoughts as objects arising in consciousness and disappearing into consciousness .We are not attached to it.
