    ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
    ABOUT US
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Mr. Vishvarupa (AKA Swami Sarvapriyānanda) is undoubtedly a VERY intelligent man, but the fact that he supports the two most pernicious institutions in the history of the earth, as well as him being an animal-abuser, says much about his true moral character:
F.I.S.H. Paragraph 28. Feminism is the penultimate evil at present because feminism is based on the misguided assumption that women are equal to or even superior to men. Although a female can exhibit superior traits, skills, etcetera, to some men, a woman can never have AUTHORITY over a man. Truth be told, no true man would ever descend to the level of accepting counsel from any of his subordinates. A man should fully obey his appointed masters and never emasculate himself by submitting to the dictates of a female. Feminism and democracy are guaranteed to destroy society, as can be clearly seen at present.
However, feminism will NEVER EVER be destroyed until the most pernicious institution is first destroyed:
F.I.S.H Paragraph 26. Democracy is evil because the masses will invariably choose the murderous Barabbas over the good King Jesus. This planet is surely doomed unless the most pernicious institution ever known to man (democracy) is replaced by the only legitimate form of government (monarchy - preferably a good monarch, though even a bad king is preferable to being ruled by an elected official who can never be good). Most of the problems in human society are directly or indirectly attributable to this relatively modern phenomenon, since it is the government’s role and sacred duty to enforce the law. Just because good and bad are relative, does not imply that they do not exist. They do exist but are relative. A democrat can never be good, despite appearing so.
One of the many sinister characteristics of democracy, communism and other evil forms of governance, is the desire for their so-called “leaders” to attempt to control or at least influence the personal lives of every single citizen.
For example, in the wicked, decadent nation where this holy scripture was composed, The Southland (or Australia as it is known in the Latin tongue), the demonic government tries and largely succeeds in controlling the rights of parents to properly raise, discipline and punish their children according to their own morals, limiting legitimate powers an employer has over his servants, persecuting religious leaders (even to imprisonment and death, believe it or not) and even trying to influence what people eat and wear. Not that a government shouldn’t control what its citizens wear in public, but it should ensure that they are modestly dressed, which is hardly the case in Australia and similar nations. Basically, the worst of the democratic governments promote or at least permit all things contrary to God’s perfect and pure will such as adultery, fornication, prostitution, pornography, homosexuality, gambling (even running lotteries themselves), illegitimate abortion of poor innocent unborn children, irreligion, drug addiction, disrespect for authority and promoting materialism and ignorance via a powerful network of institutions of miseducation (so-called “schools, colleges and universities”).
Let it be known however - democracy can not and will not endure. The truth shall triumph!
Democracy is only acceptable within large business corporations, where the shareholders must vote on who will be the company bosses and other matters.

    Hello,
I have a question which I want to ask and it's frustrating me, intellectually and also in my prayer.
Through my life I studied many paths, the one I most devotedly practiced for a time was Advaita Vedanta. I also always felt Christ's teachings but 6 months ago he called me, very strongly. I'm now a catechumen and it's beautiful to grow in faith and understand more of His love and wisdom.
I do however have a problem accepting the notion that Christianity is the only true path and literally the only truth. Or better to say, the only right expression of the one truth. That is often the stance and position of the Catholic and Orthodox Church.
Vedanta philosophy teaches to reach Theosis in its own words. It has been around since long before Christ's birth, perhaps for even more than 6 thousand years. I just can't believe that all the saints of other religions who led the same type of ascetic humble prayerful lives as did Christian saints, just in a different culture, are supposedly condemned to hell. That is an absurd idea.
Or that it is forbidden to study Upanishads, the Bhagavad gita or Vedas, as it is a "false" religion? Christian missionaries also often forced Christianity aggressively on other peoples throughout history, attacking other systems fiercely - like the Vedic philosophy, indigenous traditions and so on, and literally attacking people horribly. That is not exactly what Jesus taught, and not the right way. It is also one of the reasons indigenous nations and Hindus for example defied conversion.
Some "Christian" objections say that they have many gods and teachers, and believe Jesus was only one of them and that this is heresy, as he is the only one. While in truth, Hindus just believe the Almighty incarnated in the flesh more than once (Krishna, Rama, Sri Ramakrishna...).
So this is my dilemma. Even though I accept Christ as the way, truth and the life, and accept the truth that he died for all of our sins, and practice Christian prayer, and am waiting to be baptized...
I understand him to be the Logos incarnate, and that this is what he meant when he said - one can get to the Father only through Him (Logos), divine wisdom, who also incarnated. I'm trying to reconcile the two paths I both love. Like for example Orthodox Christianity teaches the merging Theosis, Advaita ultimately teaches the merging of the individual soul with God (Atman with Brahman).
Probably many Catholics who only know their own tradition and were trained in the dual view since youth, would see this as wrong and heretical. It is also true that many passages in the New testament do seem to speak only of Jesus specifically being the one truth against all other false ones. Or the account of his return in the Revelation... I'm only seeking earnestly.
If anyone has any deeper knowledge of reconciling these ideas and issues regarding Church teachings throughout the ages and vedantic thought and understands my intellectual struggle, please help.
Thank you Swami ji for beautiful wise talks. 🙏
    Warm regards,
    T

Read Jesus as he was mentioned by historically and not through bible. Read revelations where Jesus wants to kll child of Jezebel. Bible is fiction created later on so it would seem like he is realizing prophecies of jews.
Jesus was given divine birth copying the culture of Greco-Roman world.
Read about yahweh and what he asks moses to do? Jesus wanted the world to end where his god yahweh comes down and destroy the Romans and make him the king.
The image of Jesus and god in Christian mind is conditioned by modern understanding of god that is created by modern rational stories told by their Parents, Priests while hiding the unsavory and ugly parts.
Understand the gift of Christianity to the world is islam.

All duality is grounded in a non dual consciousness, this reflection of ONE to none. We love our nature of life, of who we are that's so personal and nurturing. Be good to yourself and others, see the universe for what it truly is. You will see, all is adorned there is no significance. There is no slave in pure consciousness for the main embellishment of creation is awareness, this is the heart of the universe grounded as pureness.

I like to hear you, but the thing is that it is just an escape from worldly problems...hearing about Atman and consciousness gives temporary relief, but once out in the world, Atman , souk etc. can't pay your bills. This all is just escapism, or intellectual excerice at best.

Dont mix. The path of Advaita is generally for the renunciate Monks living inside the Monasteries because it is an arduous undertaking.
This argument of Intellectual egoism was apt because it breaks down all religions and dismisses them.

Yoga Vaasishta- it’s very long, 36,000 verses, you can read condensed version called Yoga Vaasishta saara (essence of Yoga Vaasishta) though …

Are you God? Of course. Why is this controversial? It's not megalomania. It should be very basic and fundamental spiritual insight and teaching. YOU ARE GOD. What is God? BRAHMAN. What is brahman? Pure consciousness. What is pure consciousness? .........
