I just wanted to let you know that your voice is my daughter’s favourite soothing bedtime sound! She often asks me to watch the “TH-cam Book Lady” after I put her to bed: She likes to listen to your voice from her bedroom as she falls asleep! ❤
You're my no. 1 booktuber. I value your recommendations so much! And I'm happy to see that I read a considerable amount of books mentioned in this video, based on your recommendation, and quite enjoyed them! Thanks for your hard work and dedication over the years, amd thanks for your great taste! ❤
I've been watching since the start, I used to read your blog after Neil Gaiman mentioned it (very cool) and then moved across here when you started the channel! A constant companion, your videos have got me through tough times xx
Not sure when I subscribed, but I know I started looking forward to Sunday Video releases in 2021 and I still do a happy dance when I see something new from you. Thank you for making our lives better with your content!
Looks like I’ve been here for SEVEN YEARS! I came in via Fairy Tales with Jen and your excellent recommendation of Max Porter’s “Grief is the Thing With Feathers”, which I still love. This reminds me, I think I’m coming up on five years posting to booktube-it happened so quickly! Happy early ten years 💜
I am new to your channel as I just passed English exam in my country, which proves equivalent to C1 level. Now I finally reached to the point where I can truly ENJOY reading. It’s such a privilege to have great teacher as you on TH-cam :) Being a huge fan of Kazuo Ishiguro as I’m Japanese, my appreciation to you guide me through the world of literature!!
Hi Jen, I think I have been following you for at least 9 or 8 years now. Started following Simon, Lauren (and the books) and Mercedes around the same time. And you lot are still my favorite people on booktube! ❤
Congrats on 10 years! I don't quite remember when I first subscribed to you but I know I was definitely watching your videos in my final years of uni because you came to give a talk once and I remember I was sad I couldn't go. So that must be about 7 years now! I remember your dissect a poem videos, which I really enjoyed, and also your videos on fairy tales. Thank you for all the wonderful books I discovered over the years because of you :)
I’ve been watching your videos for at least 9 years. I remember binge watching your older videos when I discovered you. I don’t think that would be possible now with how many videos you have released! You’re my favourite book tuber (the only one I regularly watch) and I would love to thank you for years of reading recommendations. I never buy the books but I’ve taken hundreds of library books out based on your suggestions. Thank you so much Jen ❤
Firstly Congratulations on 10 years. 🎉🎉🎉 What a huge milestone!! I have been watching your channel for about 7 years I think. The first videos I watched were your Fairytale series. I remember watching you Simon & Lauren (both Lauren’s) at first. Seems forever ago now. ❤
I read A Place For Us last year basically off your recommendation. It took me a while to get to - I’ve been here since at least 2016, but may have been in the first year of your channel - but it immediately became an all time fave. It gives me that little book glow every time I think about it, I feel so blessed to have been able to read it, so thank you!
I think I've been subscribed to/watching your channel for about seven years.... I'm not sure exactly, but I think you might be the only booktuber I was watching then that I'm still consistently watching now. Wild to think about how much has changed in that time, for me and in the larger world.
Hi, Jen. I listened to Rebekah Taussig reading Stting Pretty because of you talking about it on the channel. I have Bass Rock and Elena Knows on my TBR because of you. And I want to mention that I loved reading two of your books, of course because of your channel, The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night and The Sister who Ate her Brothers.
The book of strange new things - I am so happy it's in your top books of the last decade. I read it few years back because of you and I adore it. I am still thinking about this book a lot. Such a great video, as always. Watching them for about 5 years now. I am tempted to read all of your top 11 books 🤔
I read so many of these books because of you! English Animals is one of my favorites and one that I reread often for the comfort of it. I have to say I'm surprised The Tidal Zone didn't make your top 11! Thanks for all you do, Jen.
Not sure how long I've been watching quite, and hard to say because I watched some backlog. I know I was watching you in 2020 and listened to Leave the World behind immediately after hearing you talk about it in your Best of 2020 video, and listened to it in practically one go sitting in front of the fire. Just now I went to see if it was available for a re-read on my libby app and the hold list is now over 200 people long! So I'm glad I got to be ahead of the curve on that one because of you! Also found The Hunger through your recommendation, and The Book of Strange new things was one of my first reads of 2023, that I was later very happy to hear you speak so highly of! Lastly I am currently in the middle of listening to the Frieda Klein books for the first time and am so, so taken with them. They remind me of Veronica Mars, probably my favorite television series of all time, so very happy to encounter new-to-me content that feel like a kindred spirit. Thank you for all the time and care put into all the videos, you've certainly brought good books into my life throughout challenging times. Much love
I subscribed to your channel around August 2022, after Mercedes recommended you. I definitely remember the last 5 years' books, as I watched quite a lot of your backlist. Due to your recommendation I read Maps, Girl, woman, other, A place for us and English animals (was also Mercedes' recommendation). You definitely opened my eyes on Leave the world behind, as I actually dnf'd it because of its pretentious tone😂. Thank you so much for a brilliant and long video❤
I've been hear for 8 or 9 years! I discovered you thanks to Sanne I think -or was it Jean? Or did I discover Jean thanks to you? In the last 2 years I've not watched as many youtube videos as I used to but I am returning to it now :) Thank you for your channel and for making me discover so many great books, including The book of strange new things, wich is an all time favourite of mine too! x
I just finished Girl, Woman, Other and was blown away. I couldn’t put it down and am turning to Mr. Loverman next. Thanks for the video. It was a real treat.
Congratulations on 10 years!! I love how meticulous and in-depth these kinds of videos are :D I think I probably started watching you in... 2020? It feels like I have been for longer as you've been one of my favourite content creators for years, but I think I found your channel on my friend's recommendation, and I met her in 2019. So many of your favourites I remember, or have read or are on my TBR! Off the top of my head I would be hard pressed to mention any all-time favourites! I love reading but feel that I don't get obsessed with favourite books the same way I do with e.g. TV shows, so I forget about even the best ones. I've just looked at my 5-star reads on StoryGraph since I started tracking my reading in 2018, so here are some where I thought "Ah yes, that book was truly excellent", or ones I've loved re-reading recently: Kindred, Sitting Pretty, Tea Dragon trilogy and anything by K. O'Neill, Anne of Green Gables, Leave The World Behind, How to Do Nothing, This Is How You Lose the Time War, Our Wives Under The Sea, Love Letters: Vita and Virginia, the whole Murderbot series, Good Omens, The Hopkins Manuscript, Don’t Call Us Dead, Fingersmith Lol, I'm realising many of them you have mentioned 😂 Some other faves might be missing because I don't always rate books. Plus I first started reading Austen's novels about 10 years ago, so most of her work is on the list too!
I have read Elena Knows by Claudia Pineiro. I will never forget that book, it packed a big emotional wallop. I just found your channel and am really enjoying it.
Jen, I look forward to Sundays now because you've inspired so much good reading in the last 3 or 4 years. Girl, Woman, Other -- Yes! (And the audiobook is fantastic). Untold Night and Day, Elena Knows, all of Max Porter. I already was a huge fan of Ali Smith. Now also enjoyed -- in addition to your own books -- Is Mother Dead, Blue Monday, and I just finished All the Little Bird Hearts. Another wonder... Thank you for being there, shining your clear light on remarkable reads for all of us.
Some amazing books there. I think I'd probably have to include Hamnet that was such a favourite of mine. Grief is a thing with Feathers and Girl, Women, Other were amazing too. The Bass Rock and Passing didn't have quite the same impact on me, good books but not really to my taste. I think I would include local Australian authors instead in mine. Something like My Place by Sally Morgan and The Furies by Mandy Beaumont, I'd rate higher. But I haven't done a comparison reading with Passing and The Vanishing Half like I think you did at the time, which I think would increase the impact of those books. More great reading in your future Jen! Happy Reading!
I have been listening to your channel for 2-3 years. I absolutely enjoyed the Frieda Klein series and I carried on enjoying crime novels till now. I just realized I have brought at least 20 books you mentioned in this video as you recommended them before.
I've been subscribed for 5 years and have occasionally watched your videos even before that when my book taste was mostly YA as a teenager. Actually you became an inspiration for me to want to start reading adult fiction when I was in high school ❤
I only found you 3 years ago but I wish it had been 10. My favourite TH-camr still and I'm looking forward to watching you for many more years to come! On another note, I can't believe some of those books are that old, where has the time gone?
I don't quite remember when i subscribed to your channel but i do know that you convinced me to read Nicci French -and boy oh boy, i cannot thank you enough. Trust your reviews and recommendations implicitly.
Congratulations on ten years. I don't know if I have been there for the whole journey. But I have been watching your channel for many years. You were one of the first channels I subscribed to.
I remember you recommending a lot of these over the years. I love the Bass Rock, and since reading it first I moved from London to just down the road from the actual Bass Rock, so I think about it a lot. Though the one that stayed with me the most was "The Hopkins Manuscript", I was haunted by the moon for months, and still think about it constantly. Thank you for everything you do. I can't remember the exact time I first started watching, but you've been a great source of inspiration and joy for years now. :)
I started reading a lot in 2018, I think that was when I found your channel. I was interested in literary fiction and discovering poetry and you've helped me a lot with that. Thanks Jen
Well! That was quite an accomplishment! I’ve read many of these directly as a result of your input. Your recommendations have brought me great joy over the years. The ones from your ultimate list that I’ve read are Grief, The Bass Rock, the Frieda Klein series, Passing, and Elena Knows. I would guess I’ve been watching your videos since 2018-ish. My ultimate list would include (no order other than Hamnet at #1): Hamnet, The Bass Rock, The Many by Wyl Menmuir, The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell, Stillicide by Cynan Jones, The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, Elena Knows, Red At The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, Tin Man by Sarah Winman, Ghost Wall, and Rebecca. But I could go on… Such a great video! xx
I subscribed in 2016 after watching your introduction video for the fairy tale series. Your channel is also the first I subscribed to. I've watched every video since and greatly value your reciews and recommendations. Because of you, I've discovered many favorites. Thank you.
Thanks for the amazing video Jen, it was such a great trip down memory lane. Without looking at any of my reading lists and off the top of my head my favourite reads of the last 10 years would have to include; Passing, Mr Loverman, The Bass Rock, Small Island, some sort of Sarah Waters, Through Black Spruce, and gosh I don’t know!!! Thank you again!
Wow, what an undertaking! I'd like to do this with my books one day, I bet it would be an interesting reflection of the last ten years of my life. Congrats on ten years on TH-cam! I've been here since you started your channel, and I still get excited for each new video you post. I always appreciate your thoughtful, in-depth reviews of books. I read "The Bass Rock" because of your review and it was so outside my comfort zone, but I found it enthralling. I think I read "A Place for Us" because of you as well, and that book destroyed me (in a good way). Thanks for all the videos!
I've been a subscriber since 2015! Was so excited when you did the keynote for the Editors Canada Conference because I could gush to colleagues/fellow editors about your videos.
I've been a subscriber since 2016 and I remember loving all your fun necklaces. You showed me so many authors that were new to me at the time, I started reading poetry more purposefully... it has been great 😊
So, I've been following you since I found you looking for reference videos on His Dark Materials...about the time I got the trilogy to read through my second year of college, living alone...so 2018 is the year I got to binging your channel!!! HDM is one of my all time favs for sure...I have so many books on my TBR directly from your top of the year lists that I felt a bit hurt (lolz) when some of them didn't make the list...even tho I was like, "that's not gonna make it tho" like for Mr. Loverman, I knew it as Girl, Woman and Other is what I've heard you insist more on and...honestly, I wasn't mostly surprised by the list given I KNOW how you feel for each through the years!!!! Damnnn...I've binged the channel too many times lolzzz I'm so reading the ones of these 11 that I've on my physical or audio TBR asap!!! 💙👍💙👍💙👍
Facts...and you are my favorite bookish creator of all time too Jen!! 💙🤗💙 Hope you and Mr. M and the new one, are doing great in all the ways possible after a kid has sneaked into the picture! Lolz xoxo
Congratulations Jen on reaching ten years. I can remember binge watching quite a few of your videos before I subscribed, I think I joined in 2019/2020. Some of my favourites are: The Bass Rock, Summer Water/Ghost Wall/The Fell by Sarah Moss, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, What Willow Knows by Lynn Buckle and Foster by Clare Keegan. 🥳
Hi, Jen. I found this video lots of fun! I think I’ve been watching you since 2015 and I remember finding your channel because I really enjoy reading fairytales, and especially retellings of fairytales. I find it very hard to make lists of books. But if I had to choose my all-time favorite book, which I have re-read in the last 10 years, is the left hand of darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin.
Hey Jen, I've read and loved Faber's Book of Strange New Things because of you :) Quick question, I've been reading my way around the world (long project of course) and wanted to ask if you had ever thought about doing that, slowly reading one book from every country in the world, best if by local writers and set in that country, maybe a cool video idea? finding something from small countries is really hard btw...
I might turn that into a specific project at some point. I tend to read quite widely anyway, I think I read from 38 different countries in 2023, and always looking for new perspectives. ☺ x
I think I must have subscribed somettime in 2019. I do know you were one of the first Booktubers I discovered. I read Convenience Store Woman, Spring, and Tipping the Velvet because you recommened them :)
I did a you tube history search and it tells me I subscribed Jan 2016. I don't know what brought me to the channel but you were the first booktuber I subscribe to.
Thanks Jen, Read Girl Woman Other and Mr Loverman, Collected Woman Eating from the library although my hubby is reading it at the moment. I have bought Elena Knows for the BenReadsGood prompt to read a translated work so will be getting to this one in September I think. Thanks for your content. I have been subscribing since 2022 and like going through your backlist videos. You have certainly broadened my reading.
Been here since 2015 - Your videos introduced me to Ali Smith, whose books I love so so much, and I'll always be so grateful for that (and for so many years of really wonderful recommendations and lovely videos)!
Loved The Heirarchies! Was trying to remember if you'd recommended it. This was a great video, a reminder of some past books I've always meant to read and have added now to my tbr. Thank you for validating my dislike of Dickens 🤣 I thought I was the only one to find his writing tedious. Great for adaptations though. I'm listening to Passing atm and the scene with the awful husband is hard to hear 🤮Can't quite remember how long I've been watching your videos, but you are part of my Booktube dreamteam of Jean, Simon, and you ❤
I found your channel in 2021 through your little red riding hood analysis video. You're the reason I started watching booktube and getting back into reading!
I've only been around a couple months, until then Emmie and jack Edwards were my fave booktubers, now you are! love your content and you are my comfort channel
I’ve been here since 2018 😉 not quite the longest but I’ve been enjoying your content ever since. Every year I treat myself to some of your favorite books and they usually become my favorite books for the next year. You have great taste!
Really enjoyed going down memory lane with you! I've been subscribed since you very first started (you featured on Leena's channel and said you were starting your own). It does not feel like that long ago (but also does lol)
I dont know specifically when i started watching but do remember you promoting middle of the night and Franklins flying bookshop so i definitely followed you already in 2017
I read A Place For Us because you recommended it years ago and it's my favorite read of the last 10 years. I've been watching you since you made a video about your most read authors and I believe the winner was Margaret Atwood. Is that still the case? You've introduced me to a lot of books I would have never heard of otherwise and I look forward to your videos every week. You're the best!
I think it’s probably Ali Smith now, but I don’t tend to read huge backlists like I used to, so “most read author” isn’t really something that’s relevant to my reading tastes these days xx
Really loved the video and had to add some books to my have to read list!😊Thanks for the good recommendations over more than 5 years that I have been following you! Especially loved english animals and mrs march
I think I started watching in 2016, and like others came here after being recommended your blog by Neil Gaiman. You were my first book tuber subscription and slowly started to get to know this corner of the internet via your videos.
I remember some time after I started watching you, you challenged yourself to write 100 poems in 24 or 48 hours and then you made a pamphlet of them to fundraise for a cause you followed. I remember suggesting you could write this poems on postcards and send them to anyone who donated a certain amount. I got the pamphlet but not one of the postcards which I regret now!
@@joreads8782 Ah, yes, for the Book Bus! Kind of ridiculous to think I was able to write 100 poems out by hand like that that back then, actually, ha. x
i subscribed in 2020 after one of my english professors suggested your videos on fairy tales! i really enjoyed your videos and have been watching ever since :)
I've read Grief is the Thing with Feathers, The Bass Rock, Blue Monday (but not the rest), Girl, Woman, Other and Elena Knows! I'm going to read The Book of Strange New Things for the Patreon book club, Passing is really high on my tbr and I'm still really interested in English Animals and A Place for Us! I was also interested in Maps of Our Spectacular Bodies but someone I know said that it was a really difficult read language-wise so I still want to try it but I'm more hesitant
Congratulations on your 10 year YT anniversary! I love a good list so I adored this video. May I ask what is your favorite Sarah Waters book? I am going to read Tipping the Velvet (translated as "Polishing the pearl" in Spanish :D) this year.
I think Tipping the Velvet is the best intro to her work, actually :) everyone seems to have Fingersmith as their favourite, but I think mine might be The Paying Guests. The only one I didn't enjoy was Affinity. x
@@jenvcampbell Aaaah this is fabulous cause "Tipping The Velvet" is going to be their first work that I read. I added Fingersmith and The Paying Guests to my "future wishlist" :)
Passing is the only one I've read from the top-top list, and now I'm interested in several more. I dont watch regularly, but when I do I'm often taking screen shots to check my library later or to suggest titles to a friend whose tastes are more in line with yours (horror-ish, unhinged weirdness).
Read Still Missing when it first came out years ago and it still haunts me. Have read read it many times. Lady’s Maid by Margaret Forster is an eye-opening fiction created around the maid who left London with Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Cannot be missed by somebody like you. Anything by Sue Gee but especially Earth and Heaven which is unforgettable. Just finished Hotel Milano by Tim Parks and it is full of wit and wisdom about the pandemic. It will be on my list. Also The Ginger Tree by Oswald Wynd is brilliant . these seem to go under the radar which is why I mention them as you have brought many lesser talked about books😊 to my attention. do Not Swy we Have Nothing was my first audio book. Written by Madeleine Thien it is a searing account of China from the revolution to Tianamen Square and exquisitely read by her. And Charlotte Wood is a superb Australian who deserves more attention especially for The weekend. Love your brisk yet thorough reviewing style. thanks so much from Dublin.
The first videos I watched were I think around 2015 and Ive been a subscriber/regular since 2018/2019. Some of my favourite books ever are some that you recommended and read many more ❤
I have heard that Lanny is great. The Bass Rock sounds like The Hours, which won the Pulitzer many years ago. I do think memory has a lot to do with what we consider great, so I was quite impressed you put some of the 2023 books away. I am often surprised by the books that stay with me, The Push by Ashley Audrain being my only 5 star book of 2021 and no 5 stars since then. I have thought about this book a lot; about how simple it actually is. The premise is brilliant but the actual book is all made up of domestic scenes the author probably took from her own life, which is even more brilliant. Similar to The Shinning by Steven King. The other 5 star book of 2019 actually was Asymmetry. It was brilliant in a different way. I'm rereading The House of Mirth now b/c I needed something to break the winter blues and Wharton is amazing. I find a lot of literary books impress me ATM, but don't really stay with me at all. The most surprising book I think about a lot is The Last Mrs. Parish. It's not what I'd call "a smart book", but it's got the Best ending ever. I'm surprised you've not read A Little Life; it's been on so many lists and TH-cam channels.
I think I've been watching your videos from 8 years or so? I never really know the definitive answer, but it has been ages. If I counted correctly, I've read 15 books from this list, and some of them would have been because of your videos. I was in the same room as K. O'Neill the other day, as they were doing a signing in Paris, where I just happened to be, but I didn't realize you had to sign up for time slots ahead of time, so wasn't allowed to stay to say hi.
Looks like I've been here 5 years. From your list my best books would include Girl, Woman, Other and Ali Smith's Seasonal Quartet. Off the top of my head, I'd add Life After Life, Hamnet, Homegoing, The Children's Book, Behind the Beautiful Forevers, The Sunlight Pilgrims, Born With Teeth, Fortune Smiles, The Bluest Eye, Milkman, Lincoln in the Bardo, The Hearts Invisible Furies. I guess I have to stop somewhere. 😊
I read A Place for Us based on your video and I think about it all the time. Also, I’ve given The Book of Strange New Things as a gift to soooo many people
I started watching and subscribing to your channel Sept 2015. You talked about a book called Ice Cream Star (had to look it up to get the correct month😊).
its so funny - my partner and i are together for 10 years this January 😊i am not sure anymore when i started watching your videos, for sure not 10 years ago but maybe 2019. i am so so glad i found your channel thank you so much for all you do and the amazing videos you share every week 🫶🏼
I am still watching the video and i just wanted to say i so appreciate this treat of a video its so cool to see all the favorites again and remembering which ones i read after hearing you talk about them. I really like watching longer videos of reccs, favorite books and also especially your reading vlogs. So yeah just reiterating thanks 🥰😊
Right?! Some of theirs has been adapted (Secret Smile with David Tennant for one - but it’s one of my least favourites by them). Frieda would be amazing as an adaptation. x
I've been here since August 2021 which is when I read There But For The by Ali Smith and came across your channel because I was desperate to hear people talk about it so I found your video about Ali Smith books ❤️
@@jenvcampbell Thank you, no one ever replies to my comments, I did squeal a bit as your channel is one of my favourites. didn't know she had a new book coming out. I think I just related to Adele more, not necessarily the things she did but perhaps why she did them
I just wanted to let you know that your voice is my daughter’s favourite soothing bedtime sound! She often asks me to watch the “TH-cam Book Lady” after I put her to bed: She likes to listen to your voice from her bedroom as she falls asleep! ❤
That's very lovely. x
I’m currently listening to this to fall asleep too myself.
Oh my gosh, that's just the sweetest compliment I think you could give a TH-cam content creator. Please give your daughter a hug from me. 🥰
I don’t quite remember when I subscribed but I know yours was the first booktube channel I subscribed to.
☺️❤️

I subscribed to your channel around August 2022, after Mercedes recommended you. I definitely remember the last 5 years' books, as I watched quite a lot of your backlist. Due to your recommendation I read Maps, Girl, woman, other, A place for us and English animals (was also Mercedes' recommendation).
You definitely opened my eyes on Leave the world behind, as I actually dnf'd it because of its pretentious tone😂. Thank you so much for a brilliant and long video❤
It’s so jarring, isn’t it? 😂 a very bold book in that respect! x
I've been hear for 8 or 9 years! I discovered you thanks to Sanne I think -or was it Jean? Or did I discover Jean thanks to you? In the last 2 years I've not watched as many youtube videos as I used to but I am returning to it now :) Thank you for your channel and for making me discover so many great books, including The book of strange new things, wich is an all time favourite of mine too! x
3 years with the lovely Jen, who renewed my love for literary fiction😃
☺️❤️
I just finished Girl, Woman, Other and was blown away. I couldn’t put it down and am turning to Mr. Loverman next. Thanks for the video. It was a real treat.
She’s so damn good! x
Congratulations on 10 years!! I love how meticulous and in-depth these kinds of videos are :D
I think I probably started watching you in...
I've just looked at my 5-star reads on StoryGraph since I started tracking my reading in 2018, so here are some where I thought "Ah yes, that book was truly excellent", or ones I've loved re-reading recently:
Kindred, Sitting Pretty, Tea Dragon trilogy and anything by K. O'Neill, Anne of Green Gables, Leave The World Behind, How to Do Nothing, This Is How You Lose the Time War, Our Wives Under The Sea, Love Letters: Vita and Virginia, the whole Murderbot series, Good Omens, The Hopkins Manuscript, Don’t Call Us Dead, Fingersmith
Lol, I'm realising many of them you have mentioned 😂 Some other faves might be missing because I don't always rate books. Plus I first started reading Austen's novels about 10 years ago, so most of her work is on the list too!
Thank you for sharing, and for being here ☺ x
I have read Elena Knows by Claudia Pineiro. I will never forget that book, it packed a big emotional wallop. I just found your channel and am really enjoying it.
I found you in 2020, and your videos were so helpful. Thank you Jen, for bringing joy then and now.
❤
Jen, I look forward to Sundays now because you've inspired so much good reading in the last 3 or 4 years. Girl, Woman, Other -- Yes! (And the audiobook is fantastic). Untold Night and Day, Elena Knows, all of Max Porter. I already was a huge fan of Ali Smith. Now also enjoyed -- in addition to your own books -- Is Mother Dead, Blue Monday, and I just finished All the Little Bird Hearts. Another wonder... Thank you for being there, shining your clear light on remarkable reads for all of us.
Thank you, Jodie x
☺️ thanks for sharing x
I have been listening to your channel for 2-3 years. I absolutely enjoyed the Frieda Klein series and I carried on enjoying crime novels till now. I just realized I have brought at least 20 books you mentioned in this video as you recommended them before.
❤
I've been subscribed for 5 years and have occasionally watched your videos even before that when my book taste was mostly YA as a teenager. Actually you became an inspiration for me to want to start reading adult fiction when I was in high school ❤
❤
I only found you 3 years ago but I wish it had been 10. My favourite TH-camr still and I'm looking forward to watching you for many more years to come! On another note, I can't believe some of those books are that old, where has the time gone?
I know! Let's not think about it too much 😂 x
I don't quite remember when i subscribed to your channel but i do know that you convinced me to read Nicci French -and boy oh boy, i cannot thank you enough. Trust your reviews and recommendations implicitly.
Hurray! x
Congratulations on ten years. I don't know if I have been there for the whole journey. But I have been watching your channel for many years. You were one of the first channels I subscribed to.
☺️❤️
I remember you recommending a lot of these over the years. I love the Bass Rock, and since reading it first I moved from London to just down the road from the actual Bass Rock, so I think about it a lot. Though the one that stayed with me the most was "The Hopkins Manuscript", I was haunted by the moon for months, and still think about it constantly.
Thank you for everything you do. I can't remember the exact time I first started watching, but you've been a great source of inspiration and joy for years now. :)
♥️ how fun that you now live near it! x
I started reading a lot in 2018, I think that was when I found your channel. I was interested in literary fiction and discovering poetry and you've helped me a lot with that. Thanks Jen
You’re welcome and thank YOU x
But I could go on…
Such a great video! xx
Thank you for sharing your favourites ☺ x
I subscribed in 2016 after watching your introduction video for the fairy tale series. Your channel is also the first I subscribed to. I've watched every video since and greatly value your reciews and recommendations. Because of you, I've discovered many favorites. Thank you.
Thank you x
Thanks for the amazing video Jen, it was such a great trip down memory lane.
Without looking at any of my reading lists and off the top of my head my favourite reads of the last 10 years would have to include; Passing, Mr Loverman, The Bass Rock, Small Island, some sort of Sarah Waters, Through Black Spruce, and gosh I don’t know!!!
Thank you again!
❤☺
Wow, what an undertaking! I'd like to do this with my books one day, I bet it would be an interesting reflection of the last ten years of my life.
Congrats on ten years on TH-cam! I've been here since you started your channel, and I still get excited for each new video you post. I always appreciate your thoughtful, in-depth reviews of books. I read "The Bass Rock" because of your review and it was so outside my comfort zone, but I found it enthralling. I think I read "A Place for Us" because of you as well, and that book destroyed me (in a good way). Thanks for all the videos!
Destroyed in a good way is an excellent way of putting it x
I've been a subscriber since 2015! Was so excited when you did the keynote for the Editors Canada Conference because I could gush to colleagues/fellow editors about your videos.
☺❤
I've been a subscriber since 2016 and I remember loving all your fun necklaces. You showed me so many authors that were new to me at the time, I started reading poetry more purposefully... it has been great 😊
❤
Damnnn...I've binged the channel too many times lolzzz
I'm so reading the ones of these 11 that I've on my physical or audio TBR asap!!! 💙👍💙👍💙👍
Haha, I love how we all feel precious about our favourites xx
Facts...and you are my favorite bookish creator of all time too Jen!! 💙🤗💙
Hope you and Mr. M and the new one, are doing great in all the ways possible after a kid has sneaked into the picture! Lolz
xoxo
That video was one of the first of yours I watched when I started watching BookTube. Wonderful list and amazing books!
☺️♥️
Congratulations Jen on reaching ten years. I can remember binge watching quite a few of your videos before I subscribed, I think I joined in 2019/2020. Some of my favourites are: The Bass Rock, Summer Water/Ghost Wall/The Fell by Sarah Moss, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, What Willow Knows by Lynn Buckle and Foster by Clare Keegan. 🥳
☺️
Le Guin.
Thanks, Alicia ☺️ x
Hey Jen, I've read and loved Faber's Book of Strange New Things because of you :)
Quick question, I've been reading my way around the world (long project of course) and wanted to ask if you had ever thought about doing that, slowly reading one book from every country in the world, best if by local writers and set in that country, maybe a cool video idea? finding something from small countries is really hard btw...
☺️ x
I did a you tube history search and it tells me I subscribed Jan 2016. I don't know what brought me to the channel but you were the first booktuber I subscribe to.
Glad I could be your introduction to booktube ☺️ x
Thanks Jen, Read Girl Woman Other and Mr Loverman, Collected Woman Eating from the library although my hubby is reading it at the moment. I have bought Elena Knows for the BenReadsGood prompt to read a translated work so will be getting to this one in September I think. Thanks for your content. I have been subscribing since 2022 and like going through your backlist videos. You have certainly broadened my reading.
❤
Been here since 2015 - Your videos introduced me to Ali Smith, whose books I love so so much, and I'll always be so grateful for that (and for so many years of really wonderful recommendations and lovely videos)!
🙌🏼♥️
I found your channel when I saw a video you did explaining how to get started with poetry. Impressive it was and I have watched ever since.
Thanks for being here ☺️♥️
Loved The Heirarchies! Was trying to remember if you'd recommended it. This was a great video, a reminder of some past books I've always meant to read and have added now to my tbr. Thank you for validating my dislike of Dickens 🤣 I thought I was the only one to find his writing tedious. Great for adaptations though. I'm listening to Passing atm and the scene with the awful husband is hard to hear 🤮Can't quite remember how long I've been watching your videos, but you are part of my Booktube dreamteam of Jean, Simon, and you ❤
Ha! You're welcome. x
I found your channel in 2021 through your little red riding hood analysis video. You're the reason I started watching booktube and getting back into reading!
☺️♥️
I've only been around a couple months, until then Emmie and jack Edwards were my fave booktubers, now you are! love your content and you are my comfort channel
regards from spain
Thank you for being here ☺️ x
I’ve been here since 2018 😉 not quite the longest but I’ve been enjoying your content ever since. Every year I treat myself to some of your favorite books and they usually become my favorite books for the next year. You have great taste!
That's still a long ol' time! Thanks for being here. x
Really enjoyed going down memory lane with you! I've been subscribed since you very first started (you featured on Leena's channel and said you were starting your own). It does not feel like that long ago (but also does lol)
❤
I dont know specifically when i started watching but do remember you promoting middle of the night and Franklins flying bookshop so i definitely followed you already in 2017
That's a long time! Thank you for being here. x
I've been here since 2016, and loved your channel ever since
i’ve been watching for channel for the past four years :)! have read so many good books on your recommendation
❤
Congratulations on ten years. It is great when a good book stays with you. Best wishes for the next ten years.
It is, indeed :) x
Thanks for being here x
Kind of ridiculous to think I was able to write 100 poems out by hand like that that back then, actually, ha. x
Oh gosh...it's been at least seven years of watching your videos regularly...but I cannot anymore remember what I watched first!
❤
I came to you through the Barbellion Prize, early 2022. A wonderful list! The ones for the last three years I remember.
❤
i subscribed in 2020 after one of my english professors suggested your videos on fairy tales! i really enjoyed your videos and have been watching ever since :)
Thanks, Marlene x
I've read Grief is the Thing with Feathers, The Bass Rock, Blue Monday (but not the rest), Girl, Woman, Other and Elena Knows! I'm going to read The Book of Strange New Things for the Patreon book club, Passing is really high on my tbr and I'm still really interested in English Animals and A Place for Us! I was also interested in Maps of Our Spectacular Bodies but someone I know said that it was a really difficult read language-wise so I still want to try it but I'm more hesitant
And looking back, I think I've been subscribed for 7 years already, time flies! Thank you so much for your great videos Jen!
Thank you, Larissa. x
I hope you discover some other books you love if you decide to check them out x
Thank you for sharing x
Loved this-it was such a fun process.
❤
I've been following you for ages and you were a big reason why I started my own channel ^_^
☺️ x
Congratulations, Jen. Been loving your channel since 2015!❤
❤
I started watching you in the spring of 2018. I found you based on looking for thoughts on Arcadia.
❤
The first videos I watched were I think around 2015 and Ive been a subscriber/regular since 2018/2019. Some of my favourite books ever are some that you recommended and read many more ❤
Thanks for being here :) x
I have read A Little Life; I really hated it 😂
I graduated high school back in 2017 I remember I started looking up booktubers around then. And I think I found you either that year or in 2018
❤☺
I think I've been watching your videos from 8 years or so? I never really know the definitive answer, but it has been ages.
If I counted correctly, I've read 15 books from this list, and some of them would have been because of your videos.
I was in the same room as K. O'Neill the other day, as they were doing a signing in Paris, where I just happened to be, but I didn't realize you had to sign up for time slots ahead of time, so wasn't allowed to stay to say hi.
Ah, that's a shame! x
Thank you for sharing ☺️ x
I've been here since 2016. 😊Recently felt inspired by your "the best books of the last 5 years" video and did my own version! Credted you of course
❤
I think I subscribed around 2016ish because I remember trying to find people talking about contemporary poetry on here about that time.
☺❤
I read A Place for Us based on your video and I think about it all the time. Also, I’ve given The Book of Strange New Things as a gift to soooo many people
♥️☺️
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, but it might be most of the ten years. Happy to watch you for another ten years 🎉
☺️❤️
I started watching and subscribing to your channel Sept 2015. You talked about a book called Ice Cream Star (had to look it up to get the correct month😊).
That's a long ol' time! x
its so funny - my partner and i are together for 10 years this January 😊i am not sure anymore when i started watching your videos, for sure not 10 years ago but maybe 2019. i am so so glad i found your channel thank you so much for all you do and the amazing videos you share every week 🫶🏼
❤️ thank YOU x
I am still watching the video and i just wanted to say i so appreciate this treat of a video its so cool to see all the favorites again and remembering which ones i read after hearing you talk about them. I really like watching longer videos of reccs, favorite books and also especially your reading vlogs. So yeah just reiterating thanks 🥰😊
As a side issue I can’t understand why the Frieda Klein series have not been adapted for the screen. Or any of the Niki French output.
Right?! Some of theirs has been adapted (Secret Smile with David Tennant for one - but it’s one of my least favourites by them). Frieda would be amazing as an adaptation. x
Dude I literally started watching you when I was a teenager, like 15-16.. and now I’m 24 :o
☺❤
I've been here since August 2021 which is when I read There But For The by Ali Smith and came across your channel because I was desperate to hear people talk about it so I found your video about Ali Smith books ❤️
❤️
My god. The video of all the videos. Jen, I think I’ve been around at least since 2018
☺️ x
This is is a wonderful list! ❤
☺️
I’ve been subscribed since 2015 ❤ wait- what about poor things? I remember it was one of your faves ? But maybe it’s prior 2014
I first read it at uni, so a very long time ago x
I'm pretty sure I've been watching you since before my son was born and that was around five and a half years ago.
Thanks for being here x
Congrats🎉 been here 6 years… how has it been that long?
Time does not feel real. xx
2017! You introduced me to the concept of booktube.
🙌🏼☺️
Agree regarding LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND film adaptation
☺
Going by what I remember you reading from this video, I started watching you 2021! Times go by so quickly.
It does!
I think I've been subscribed a couple of years now. I agree about Lullaby by Leila Slimani, I much preferred her novel Adele.
Ah, I didn’t like that one as much. Have you read her most recent one? I didn’t get round to it and haven’t heard much about it from other people x
@@jenvcampbell Thank you, no one ever replies to my comments, I did squeal a bit as your channel is one of my favourites. didn't know she had a new book coming out. I think I just related to Adele more, not necessarily the things she did but perhaps why she did them
@@lucygaweda3396 There was one in 2022 called The Country of Others, then a sequel to that last year called Watch Us Dance x
Happy 10 years!!
☺️ x
I’ve been here for ten years (nearly) too! iPhone Jen times!
Phewf! Thanks for sticking with me ☺️ x
