    We have a 2022 4 cyl with 41k miles with no problems. Mostly highway impressive so far. Prior to this we had the 2014 RR sport with AC issues that never got resolved in hot FL took that to 190k. So far so good with the Defender.

    I’ had four Range Rovers. The first one I had a problem steering on the freeway. Pulled it over, called a towing service. They took it to the service department and they fixed the problem. That was the only problem I’ve ever had. I’m now driving my 2016 Autobiography. Never another problem.

    I wonder if that square plate on the side glass can be removed so visibility is improved. I doubt a lot of buyers are going to want a side box. Its great for knocking people off their bicycles when driving on the road, but I really don't see a use for it. Hopefully they thought about people that don't want it and can remove the plate for more visibility.

      I agree with the box on the side panel. The square plate isn't a problem for the visibility, though.

    Excellent review!! You mentioned the reliability issues. Do you think the new Land rovers have those issues or that was the older ones but the new defenders? Also, what is your critique of the 4 cylinder Defenders? I would like to know that. Emotionally I would like this car for the look, feel and ruggedness. Do you think this vehicle is a everyday vehicle and commuter? Thanks

      Speaking as someone who just spent a lot of time researching this and placing an order, the I4 is only available on the no letter or S model, so as long as you're happy with what is on that trim level, go for it. The SE and up models have the I6 or V8. I'm looking to tow regularly so I opted for the I6 model.
      As far as daily driver or commuter, you're paying for a lot of features and capabilities you'll not use unless your commute is up a rock trail. It is an extremely comfortable highway driver, albeit very inefficient for any commute as far as MPG.

      @@CrankyOldNerd Thanks! how long will it take you to get your vehicle? Also, I do not plan to do off road stuff but I have an active lifestyle and like a vehicle that I can go on unpaved roads at times. But, I need a daily commuter as well. I keep hearing about the vehicle not being very reliable so that is a concern.

      I am from Croatia and I am waiting for my 110 D300 HSE.
      Guy from my LR dealership told me that they don’t even want to offer 2.0 engines to their clients.
      Also he told me to stay away from HYBRID version. Because in the end it relies on 2.0 engine after you deplete battery with very low range.
      If you are looking for “economical” engine go with 3.0 D250 or D300. If you dont care about money go for V8.
      TIP: If you enjoy music go for MERIDIAN SURROUND 15 speakers 700w. Standard Meridian is not that impressive.

    My 2018 LR Discovery has never had any issues. I've had regular service done to it at the dealership, as well as refinishing scuffed wheels. Maybe try owning one or driving one long term before saying LR reliability is piss poor. We bring our vehicles in mostly for minor issues like scratches, dents, a rattle in the cabin, etc.

    • @MeynMotorGroup

      Good for you glad you’ve had a happy experience but what would you say to my friend with a 2022 Range Rover that’s been in a shop for 2 weeks after buying?
      Or my buddy who had one 20 years ago that died on the highway with 2,000 miles?
      Instead of suffering myself I can just learn from others mistakes and stories. Again you might be an anomaly and that’s good for you but that’s not the experience I’ve heard from others in this industry

    • @christianzags
      @christianzags 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MeynMotorGroup maybe they had a lemon. But how do you justify saying LR has piss poor reliability just because your TWO friends had a bad experience? Especially since your one friend had that issue 20 year ago. GTFO

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea why you’re so offended or irritated I know this isn’t the first time you have heard about the piss poor reliability of these cars this is common knowledge at this point nothing you need to be upset about or to feel personally attacked you didn’t make the car nobody is blaming you. @@MeynMotorGroup You're basically bad mouthing a brand based on what you heard from a friend which he experienced 20 years ago and your other friend who owned one as well. Besides that, you have no experience to say the entire brand is piss poor. Stick to the dog and pony show and leave out topics you don't know. Let me guess, you think Toyotas and Hondas have amazing reliability.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Except I do this Defender randomly turned off on me at a traffic light. Tested a 2022 F Pace with less than 2k miles the thing wouldn’t go into reverse and the passenger seat forward and back controls wouldn’t work. That’s my experience with 2 new JLR products. I think you would agree that’s pretty inexcusable for a new car. Please stop clinging on to this 2 friend thing you know it’s thousands of people that use the internet the stories are there. But in your defense there are also people like you with a supercharged Range Rover with 3 trillion miles and they will say they’ve only changed the oil on it. So it goes both ways but it tends to go one way more than the other. Also friends with mechanics as well so if you don’t like me then that’s fine but you can’t deny master technicians and their experience plus the plethora of dealerships I’ve worked with. Again, no idea why you’re so offended but I pray that whatever is bothering you goes away. Maybe you can start your own channel and talk about how great your car is.

    Even that kind of stunningly beautiful exterior cannot overcome the unreliability. If not for that I would be driving it, I came close but bought a Lexus. They still snap my neck when I see them, the bronze color is magnificent, the interior I love. I still want one, I just cannot do it. Great and HONEST review. My RX was low 60s, and we love it, but most importantly it loves us, and it's never waved bye bye from a flatbed going into the "warranty" wormhole, after leaving you without warning on foot. With all that said I still want one, I just can't do it.

    • @MeynMotorGroup

    • @marcdargis
      @marcdargis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Man, this unreliability thing is not true anymore. I owned an F-pace 2018 and RR sport 2019 and I own a BMW X5 now and I add way more problems with the computer in the BMW. All tech-heavy cars in the high-end range are more sensitive to problems because they are more complex. Anyway saying JLR is so unreliable is just not true.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tested a 2022 F Pace last week, passenger seat refused to move forward and back, also at one point the vehicle refused to go into reverse so I turned it off and turned it back on to put it into reverse. Cars are high tech it’s just rolling the dice and having a warranty, that’s all its about now

      @@marcdargis i agree mate. reliability to me is a car that leaves you stranded at the side of the road. 'glitches', to me, are just part of driving modern computers. bmw, merc audi they all have glitches. it seems like the Yanks maybe have this 'throw away' society and don't put up with even the slightest glitch.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A “glitch” is unacceptable at the prices these manufacturers are charging us. Keep in mind these automakers are not your friends they keep you in debt and has ruined many people. I think the new Defender is a good choice because it has proven to be very reliable,it is the only modern Land Rover product that has been engineered to accept lower grade fuels in the event you are in the middle of nowhere,it has a very low depreciation rate,some people have managed to sell theirs for more than they bought them. Buy one with an air suspension, because,I believe it will have a better resale value,the air suspensions on newer Land Rovers are very reliable,they also give one the flexibility of achieving a higher clearance when off roading,my preference for a coil spring suspension is a nothing but a personal choice.
