    I have the 2016 RDX. Same procedure. I can't believe how many times you have to refill. I did it once and I was all happy. Lol
    Now I realize I have a lot of work to do. Ty again.

    Hey how you doing Just did a 2016 RDX
    Yes that year could go probably to 18, I put 31/3 in, and I was a little bit over hot, I love the idea of the pump, that is an asset, eh. Qrt to qrt is a nightmare !! let alone getting four funnels to get down deep into the fill hole! 😡 thanks again for the video Great job all around .
    It's funny it was a year ago that I posted this that I did the first one, now I did my third one and the fluid is velvet red baby velvet

    There is a fill plug on top of the transmission if you look straight down near the mass of cylinder area you'll see a 17 mm plug and a lot of them say ATF right on the plug so you don't have to use a pump

    Thank you for the video. I'm going to be using the valvoline fluid for my mine. I bought one of these Acuras to replace my old work car (218k mile 11 accord 4cyl 5sp.) I need to get 100k mikes out of this Acura.
    I got the 4cyl turbo fwd. It has 118k texas miles. I've had good luck buying the higher mileage texas cars. As long as they are well cared for.
    I'm not familiar with these cars at all. Do these cars have transmission pans and filters? I'm used to the typical domestic truck auto transmission or manual gear boxes.
    Thank you for your help.

    • @HandyDoc
      @HandyDoc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a great question. The manual makes no mention of a filter? Some parts suppliers list one . One looks like it’s inside the pan as a cartridge filter. Another supplier shows an entirely different one. This is my granddaughters car, now with 180k miles and 2 yrs after this fluid change it shifts perfectly. Good luck.

      @David Hartman thank you.
      I used a skinny funnel and refilled it via dipstick.
      This fluid is very thin. It poured rather fast. I poured 1/3 of a bottle and then let it gulp some air. Mine was not as black as yours. It was light red/ brown.

    • @jayasmrmore3687

    • @HandyDoc
      @HandyDoc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My research has shown that Honda does not recommend replacing the transmission filter in their vehicles unless you are rebuilding a transmission. They
      Do not consider it a “service” item. Sounds weird compared to other cars.

  • @mar275
    @mar275 หลายเดือนก่อน

    So how many quarts of Transmission Fluid am I gonna need? Why are you putting in 3 and then draining and then refilling again. Also how did you get transmission warm? What was the driving you did? Or you just had it on and parked?

    • @HandyDoc
      @HandyDoc  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I explained in the video, drained 4 qts, added 4 qts. Did this 4 times so 16 qts. You do this because there is no way to drain the entire transmission, some remains in the torque converter,etc. I drove the car about 3 miles between draining and refill and went through all the gears.

    It looks like your sprayer has a lock on the trigger, so that you don't need a clamp to hold it open. (Mine has a lock on it.) Yes it gets tiring, and so does pumping it. I was able to buy AISIN ATF-DW1 cheaper than the Valvoline. (I suspect they might be who makes it for Honda.)
