    So how many quarts of Transmission Fluid am I gonna need? Why are you putting in 3 and then draining and then refilling again. Also how did you get transmission warm? What was the driving you did? Or you just had it on and parked?

    • @HandyDoc

      I think I explained in the video, drained 4 qts, added 4 qts. Did this 4 times so 16 qts. You do this because there is no way to drain the entire transmission, some remains in the torque converter,etc. I drove the car about 3 miles between draining and refill and went through all the gears.

    It looks like your sprayer has a lock on the trigger, so that you don't need a clamp to hold it open. (Mine has a lock on it.) Yes it gets tiring, and so does pumping it. I was able to buy AISIN ATF-DW1 cheaper than the Valvoline. (I suspect they might be who makes it for Honda.)

    Hi David, did you ever come up with a good way to drain and flush the entire system. What is your opinion on disconnecting the trans fluid line that runs to the radiator cooler, and let the running engine pump the old fluid out of the torque converter until you get air bubbles, then drain the pan.

    • @HandyDoc
      @HandyDoc ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rick, I have sold the truck since I made the video, so I can’t look at it. I believe the reason I didn’t do a complete flush was because the tranny lines to the cooler are hard lines. Even if you disconnected one line you would have to figure a way to attach a flexible hose to direct the fluid to a container. Since the manufacturer says the transmission requires no service I feel doing the pan and filter is beneficial.

    Thank you for the video. I'm going to be using the valvoline fluid for my mine. I bought one of these Acuras to replace my old work car (218k mile 11 accord 4cyl 5sp.) I need to get 100k mikes out of this Acura. I got the 4cyl turbo fwd. It has 118k texas miles. I've had good luck buying the higher mileage texas cars. As long as they are well cared for. I'm not familiar with these cars at all. Do these cars have transmission pans and filters? I'm used to the typical domestic truck auto transmission or manual gear boxes. Thank you for your help.

      That’s a great question. The manual makes no mention of a filter? Some parts suppliers list one . One looks like it’s inside the pan as a cartridge filter. IMPORTANT UPDATE!! After 2 yrs the compressor crapped out! I called Air Lift and they sent me a new one at a discounted price of $65 instead of $180, because I complained. I had the “old style” unit in my 2014 Ram with the gauge in the cab. It lasted 7 yrs and still worked when I sold the truck. Air Lift tells me it failed because I didn’t run it enough and the piston needs that lubrication or it will seize up. Well I NEVER ran my old one regularly, maybe 2 - 3 times a year when I needed the bags. I’ll run my once a month now whether I need it or not. Just a caution to others to avoid the problem. VERY disappointed in Air Lift!

    I do believe Boosted made a point of the "transmission" being level (not the truck) when filling and doing the level checks. On trucks that means you need to jack up the rear quite a bit (like tires 8"off the ground). Good idea on loosening the trans mount bolts for pan clearance if need to get the pan out. I have not seen any other videos mention trouble getting the pan out on later models and other videos do not mention getting the trans level but some did say get (truck level rather than the trans).

    When the truck is level on your lift, your tranny will not be level. The tranny tilts down quite a bit. The advice I got was to do it on the ground with the rear raised at least 8 inches. I'm doing this soon and checked the other day. I jacked up the rear and slid ramps under my rear wheels. Then I checked and sure enough the tranny was close to level. If it's not level, you may not be getting enough fluid in there.
