    Happy painting.
    In this video I show you how to paint a rocky shore seascape. I show you how to paint a realistic seascape with a breaking ocean wave, how to paint rocks that are wet from a crashing wave and how to communicate light in your painting to create an aliveness and energy within the composition.
    This painting was inspired by the Central Coast area in NSW, Australia.
    Check out the written notes that accompany this video. Please feel free to use the reference photos if you would like to have a go at painting this.

    Just watched this video. Sooo beautiful! I was really trying to listen to your instructions about the forms of the rocks, colors you used for the sea and other aspects of the composition and story told in the painting. I was trying to see what I will need in painting the May challenge. Thanks for sharing this video with us and your excellent instructions. I can always return to this video if I need to refresh my memory.
    Love the final painting! 💓💓💓

    Thank you so much Samuel. I am a complete beginner and have only painted half a dozen pictures so far. I have come across a real problem painting rocks and this video will help me to understand how to paint them much better. My favourite subjects are the seascapes and marshlands. I will also like to learn to paint animals. So there is so much to learn. You explain everything so clearly I can go on to paint having been inspired. x

    Hey, Sam you always use liquin original in your paintings. Have you ever used any difference medium such as liquin impasto,light gel,fine detail or any different brand medium ?? I would really like to see you using these mediums.

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Akshay, I use Liquin for convenience as it's so fast drying, especially when I am making TH-cam videos. I also use Liquin Impasto but usually for finer detail and highlights at the end of my painting. 😊

    I noticed too the circle shape and thought you have done this for purpose. as i saw it at some of your old seascapes. But then when you start see it as mistake and fix it, i saw how big difference it can make. If it was stay circle, it was disturbed the main focal which is the foreground wave and the rocks. Thank you Sam for another brilliant seascape. Btw my old nikname is Celine.

    • @SamuelEarpArtist
      @SamuelEarpArtist  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Celine, yeah I didn't notice that circle until I had nearly finished the paint, then when it was drying in my studio I kept looking at the painting from a distance and suddenly I noticed it....when it was dry I immediately went to work fixing the problem 😊

      Hi Hina, the cheap student oil paints have less pigment and more carrier and fillers in them so if you can use artists quality oils that would be better. However don't worry if you can't get artist's quality oils now and don't let it put you off painting. Use what is available to you, you'll still be able to get some good results 😀
