i love Llandudno! We went there in 2017 and I think the cable car only ran once then! Still, prefer the tram tbh!
Oddly enough, we've just got back from a fortnight in Scarborough and I felt the two resorts were quite similar too. I think it's because the Peninsula (formed by the Great orme in Llandudno and the hill with the castle on-near to where we stayed-in Scarborough) gives two coasts at each, and of course, the archetecture's pretty similar, but then, that seasidey archetecture features in so many of our seaside resorts, contributing to why I love them so much!

I used to visit Llandudno regularly, and soon learned to ride the cable car up if it was running, because it probably wouldn't be by the time I wanted to come down again. And if it wasn't, always to buy the return on the tram. Too windy, too hot, too cold, too rainy, too short-staffed, someone jumped off it and killed themselves - it was always something.

On your re-re-visit check out West Shore too, there's two beaches in Llandudno and you were on North Shore but the West Shore beach is by far the better beach as it's sandy and part of Conwy Estuary so the tide goes out a long way, there's a gorgeous coastal path too which goes all the way to Deganwy train station which is about a 2 mile walk.

I'm the leader of a walking club group and we visited Llandudno (which we reached by coach) on the last Sunday in June this year. We climbed the Great Orme from the Pier through the Happy Valley (and you are correct, it's steep) before heading off to St. Tudno's Church lower down. We then climbed back up and wandered around the outside of the National Trust managed Parc Farm before taking the steep 'Monks Path' down to the road on the Conwy side of the Orme and then the 'Invalids Path' which returns you to the Victoria Tram terminus and the town centre. As well as doing that on the Sunday with my group, I had also used the train to get me to and back from Llandudno for my walk reconnoitre a few days earlier. Fab place Llandudno, and as always I enjoyed your vlog.

I went there last summer. Used the mini tour bus to get up the Great Orme because the tram queue was insane. Watching your video is bringing back good memories and making me think it would be fun to do the tram next time.
I took some action figure photos on that beach too, which started a new hobby :)

Hi G, in case you didn't know, Standard Plus is declassified until all the 3 car 197's are in full service, so there's plenty of time to get yourself the TfW Standard+ experience on the cheap.

Surprised you didn't have a trip on the steamers that run along there. A little further along is Portmerion which is beautiful especially if it's sunny.

Hey. I was wondering if you have ever visited Loughborough?
It's a large University town and home to the Great Central Railway (The only heritage line in the UK and the world with a Main Line Railway history) and the Bell foundry. It has a lovely park too called Queens Park.

Great video, G. It’s a place I must visit! I wonder how many cable cars there in the UK… I know of this one, the cable car over the Thames and the one at the Heights of Abraham in Matlock. Are there any others?

Great vlog as always. Thought the Great Orme transport prices were a bit steep (forgive the pun). The tram was 5p dearer than your train journey and the cable car was a bit more expensive than that

I've been to Llandudno once before on a coach trip, (only for a day trip) such a lovely place too, particularly for a seaside holiday. **Wow** though.... I never knew you could get there by train, and from Manc picc too. This would be very handy for
me to think about for future reference, since Piccadilly is quite an easy to get to station for me. I'm very glad about this.
I'm wondering if it's a little bit expensive though. (to travel to Llandudno) Is there any way to find out the price online beforehand, or just go to Manc picc and ask at the ticket depot there?
I loved your video. You make a lot of nice ones, and I like to watch them, even though I don't comment on many of them.
I watched your plain flight video too, when you had a lovely trip abroad to Barcelona in Spain. Wow, that must have been a lovely holiday for you. :)
You make lots of lovely videos of your train trips, so please keep them coming. :)

Great vlog. I've been going up the Orme for 50 years. Never once seen the cable car running. I've walked up a few times. Driving up is an experience! The views are amazing. I'd hate to be a gripman in case I got it wrong.

I went to Llandudno many years ago and stayed at a lovely spa hotel nearby. They had this red sausage at the breakfast buffet that they claimed was a traditional Welsh sausage and yet I've never seen it again.
