Man the "wondering around" way Shmee says "257 thousand kilometers.." at 7:52 . I think that car is exactly what Shmee needs sometimes as a break to his super car dream with top of the line immaculate cars - a Little peak at cars that "normal" people actually drive. The all mighty Ringtracktor is just perfect because it is actually already high performance, but it has its background still visible like that. And ofc it´s still going strong - I´ve heard those diesel engines can last 400-700tkm in normal drive..
Recently heard of a Škoda Fabia 1 which did 1.6 million with 1.6 TDi in it. I think it averaged over 500km a business day, and was driven by a large-size delivery company. But, to be fair, it's easy to imagine that cars like that drive almost excolusively long distances, which is exactly what they are built for, they are not being driven particularly hard over those distances, and they get really to the point dealer-prescribed periodical care. So it's not exactly and example of a common case but doing that all with one engine without ever even rebuilding it is still insane. And that engine was ultimately killed by an accident, nothing else.
you should do more "slow" laps and have good conversations in the car! maybe just invite different people for each video and do like a "chat on the ring" series ^^ i enjoyed it very much, was very relaxed and not so rushed like everything else these days :) thanks!
Mmmmmh not really sure about this, it's kinda stupid to pay for a lap and go slowly on purpose, just drive around on the open roads for such content. Also, driving the track slowly could potentially be dangerous for other drivers as well.
@@SheepRacing If he is doing a "slow" lap he still goes faster than most of the tourists that come there and do maybe 5 laps so he wouldn't be a danger, I think it would be interesting
Philip W I totally agree with that, slow for him means crazy fast for most people. BUT a slow lap is still a bit of a waste of money in my opinion :/
SheepRacing in the ring tractor he was pushing the car he wasn’t necessarily driving slow it just depends on what car he drives

A Golf MK4 was the best mom and dad could afford when I got my license. Life in Brazil is so tough... Thanks god they had the opportunity; many fellas are not as lucky as I was.
Honestly a mk4 golf is the most logical in my mind as a beginner beater car id get one myself soon

the nice thing with a "slower" car is the fact that you can push it to the max and that is a big part of the experience. That is why slower cars are fun, cause you can push them to the max and still not get killed. Plus, this engine, being a diesel, has the advantage of the higher torque, which is similar to a 3l petrol 6 cylinder, naturally aspirated, maybe even a bit more, so it feels at low-ish RPMs like a much bigger/stronger engine.

Love the video. Clearly you have the talent to drive almost anything to the edge, have a good time, and still hold a great conversation! Obviously you love curbs and rumble strips. Tim stating he should brake later at certain parts of the track shows he's a great student. Please keep up the great work!
257k for tdi, means the engine is just run in and you can start tuning it

@@RobertMitchell Yes, I am now doing an even prolonged run in period on my TDI, currently at 292k, with a plan to do stage 1 or 2 at 300k, just to be on the safe side :-)

My old van has the same engine. In 2008 it had done 220k and every subsequent MOT states that the odometer does not work. I bought it 8 months ago as a cheap workhorse. Didnt check it till i got home amd when I opened the oil cap it was clear the head gasket had gone.
Ive used it almost daily , not fixed the head gasket, ran her almost dry of oil twice and shes still goes strong. These engines would survive a nuclear bomb

I like slower cars on track, they are not making me scared for my life (that much) and they are more rewarding when you keep a proper racing line (not much power to correct mistakes).

Actually you don't need too much power if you are good driver. I have same car and it i see in your video it drives very good with stock engine, it is very interesting project.

3 wheel motion thing is real. If you are braking through the corner you can lift a back wheel and actually get the wheel to stop rotation. Good comment

Watching the Ford GT lap, it seems like its setup too stiff for the ring. The GTR is setup for the ring, so the suspension is more compliant.

You made a good Job, but it's a Mistake, you have to start about a 1.9 tdi asz or arl, 130/150 stock and just stage 1 you get 160/190cv both of them

Hey Misha, can you explain what's in the public road at 0:54? What purpose does it serve?? lol
It's main purpose is to slow people down. So, one person has to give way to the cars coming from the other side because there is only room for one car.
Unfortunately some ring visitors don't only drive fast on the track.
The area around the Nürburgring has a bit of a problem of speeding cars. because of reasons... So they need to build these things to slow down those people who are only there to show-off.
