Still think it's a bad idea to race with cars & motorcycles at the same time. You can see in this video that almost every rider uses the cars as a reference, which is a costly mistake due to the different braking points and corner speeds. It's just unnecessary dangerous to do so.
As a lifelong sportbike rider it's beyond my comprehension to be out there riding aggressively amongst bunch of car drivers of unknown experience trying to do the same thing. Motorcycle gear protects you against hitting pavement, not from getting crushed under the wheels of a car.
A lot of the riders are often following cars and forget they simply don't have the braking performance at this double 90° corner. Then those that overun can be divided into two camps...those that instinctively try the front brake, which on grass is fatal, and those that either use engine braking or gentle rear brake.
If I were in the situation it would take me a minute to remember. I would probably try to pick it up like a bicycle at first, like many of them do, and then remember the correct way. That kind of adrenaline can fog your mind.
Been riding for 34 years and when I learned it was standard procedure to actually corner on the corners . These are the ones that talk about going everywhere at 160mph and front wheel never touched ground
Can anyone say anything about the asphalt condition? It really looks to me like 50% of the time the asphalt is way too smooth. I suspect that the brake dust settles in the curves, which is then also always compacted by the cars. Apart from that, most drivers probably don't have proper vision and overestimate their skills immeasurably. Let's see if I ever drive on the Ring. If then very early, when they have just opened.
These bikes can handle it fine - the riders are bad and don't know how to navigate that corner. They are all coming in way too hot and turning too late or not at all. They should be 3/4 off their bike on the straight just before and slowing way down - trail brake in to the corner and quickly getting set up for the quick flick to the other side. They all choose horrible lines and try to turn after the fact or give too much throttle while leaned over which is causing all the lowsides.
Their body position is all wrong. The entire upper body is above the bike with arms stretched out, while the knee is out and butt slid over slightly. That's the worst you can do. One third of the total weight is the rider so it makes a huge difference. On top of that not being gentle enough with the brake and throttle inputs and you are on the ground, regardless of the asphalt conditions.
It's really hard to tell from the video in my opinion. Yes, most of the riders overestimate their possibilities and don't know how to ride fast properly, but it's surprising how quickly they lose front tire grip on some of those videos. I'm never aiming to ride on the ring. Aside from the fact cars don't know motorcycle lines which is really dangerous, it's a quite long track. On smaller tracks you can go slower first, check how the bike behaves on all corners and you can speed up 2 minutes later on next lap knowing the traction is fine and you can handle it. At some point you'll feel that on some corners the tire is already giving up. On the ring you'd need to spend much more time to know all of that.
It's over the crest, the first tight one after a bunch of faster ones, it catches you by surprise if you don't know the track well enough. Then many riders either lock the front trying to make the corner or just go straight and hope that you don't wipe out in the grass. Neat.
Tip ; ride it , don't race it ! Race other tracks when it's bikes only. The Ring ; just be a tourist visit the shop/museum , but racing is no fun here.
only bikes is more dangerous! just look at some of those idiots. Imagine you ride the Adenauer Forst chicane like your supposed to and one of those go straight and crash right into you. There are even people crashing and dying at the "Anlassen" event on the Nordschleife, which is a church mass and they are supposed to cruise over the Nordschleife. And on a bike you have also mirrors and see cars approach, I let rfaster casr pass on the straights, so I don't have situations like with the subaru. Even though I'm faster on straights than most cars there......
You are all criticising the riders and I did too, but then when many came off without doing much wrong it , to me, became obvious there is something very wrong with the grip levels of the road. Oil perhaps. The ones straightening up sensed it early.
What you don´t see is that these people have no means to come home any longer:) Also laughable is, that they think they can learn how to ride fast at the second most difficult track in the World... after the Isle of Man.
This is a great to have both cars and motorcycles at the same race! Cars of course can push motorcycles off the track easier but on the other hand motorcycles have better ability to evade cars.
Man sieht hier wunderschön, eklatante Fahrfehler. Hoffe, niemand ist körperlich zu Schaden gekommen👍
to many idiots that think they are racing drivers, theres more to riding a bike fast, its called control and you need to know how to slow down using the fronts brake as well as the rear, those that have no idea deserve all they get
All these riders need to go to a proper track day and take some lessons from the pros. None of them seem to know how to navigate corners properly, choosing bad lines, not prepping before the corner or giving way too much throttle in the worst spots possible causing the back end to get loose causing the lowsides.
Last place i ride a bike is the ring. loads of cars mainly road legal so no track focused mods such as catch trays ect slightest bit of coolant leak or any other fluids and its game over for you if your on a bike 😮
Soooo many silly situations in one video I can’t handle it. 2:41 why can’t he just go away and wait for someone, if he went off the track it’s possible that a car can come off the track and smash him into the orbit.
This with cars and bikes together is crazy but bikes and bikes with big variations of talent is also not good. A good freind of mine was circulating on his yam lc350 when an idiot on a fireblade tried stuffing it up the inside on a corner taking my friend down breaking bones causing a hospital stay and medivac home. My freind was not riding slowly and at the time was a very good racer with an international licence so riding on this track can bit very quickly.

crazy
Just luck
3:16 flikker! Stay behind! Dont overtake.. bikes have different lines
80% of these crashes can be summed up with target fixation, complete lack of front-brake usage and overkill speeds.
and apparently lack of track knowledge. these riders are just awful.
@@halcyon_studio I was going to include this. They clearly have never even glanced at a track map or guide.
Also awful body position
Big riders at small bike😅😅
Sorry Mr Rossi

Yeah and its on nordschleife its double the danger

Its not enough to buy a Arai helmet and ride 10 times a year 😄
This reminds me never to buy any secondhand motorbike in Germany
It survived the Green Hell - what an honour to ride her. Should be doubled in price!
Think only Germans go to the ring?
I saw a lot of yellow license plates as well..😬
Then i suggest you only buy new.
1:03 LMAO That's why you don't follow, you race. Eyes on track.

Some of these riders need to watch a video on how to pick up a downed bike. With a proper technique a small female can upright a Harley.
