Our second EC-400 is arriving tomorrow morning. 1/15/23. We’re quite happy with our first one, and it allows us to do a lot more with a small crew. I wonder how happy we’ll be with them in five years. 😜 Looking forward to seeing how you guys get your new mill set up and running. I think you’re going to love it.
We got our EC400 with the pallet pool and 100 position tool changer, one of the first ones, 3 years ago. It's productivity was a total game changer for us. We use in for small lot jobs. It replaced 5 VMCs.

Quite rare to see a Haas horizontal, but you are a Haas mill shop. Matsuura's with the 10 pallet pool seem to be everywhere at the moment. No doubt this automation will keep driving Pierson forward! Keep the videos coming

If you like pallet pools you should check out Von Ruden MFG. They have 3 horizonal Mazaks hooked up to a pallet pool of 50+ pallets that can be automatically loaded into any of the 3 machines. This was installed in the 80's and still running today.
EC 400 i ran 11 years a go one is a great machine very sofisticade the ec 400 had 2 pallets change Congratulations for the monster machine u bougt. Buy is a good choice i wish u make alot chips costumers and off course money
So glad you decided on a horizontal. I hope the haas does the job for ya. The biggest advantages of horizontals are speed, rigidity and accuracy. Not things haas are known to excel in. I will be curious to follow along ur journey.
I had an EC300, it was the demo machine at Westec. I was totally dissatisfied with it. Total lemon from the word go, although I will say they worked their ass of to make things right. I was in SoCal and I'm guessing we had the same sales rep. It was probably one of the last auger machines, eventually it would work OK, but we still had to stop and clean the chips out every 2 pallets, or the thing would clog up and dump coolant all over the place. Kind of defeated the purpose of having a pallet machine. There were a lot of other issues that I don't need to go into here. But i will also add that I bought an MDC500 (I think 500, was a while ago and I'm retired now) and I loved that machine, it was pretty trouble free.
Really Nice Jay, seems like the perfect fit especially because You are a quick change pallet Manufacturer. I would load that Bad Boy up with tombstones and Pierson pallets and "Let The Games Begin". Just Curious is this video of the New shop that You were looking into purchasing or the existing shop?
I'm guessing that the 1/4" out of square could change dramatically once the full leveling process is run through. Am I wrong? Definitely excellence over perfection is the way to go.
Did you consider any other brands for the horizontal purchase? Just curious how HAAS stacked up on price/performance/automation capabilities against other players in the market.
have you ever had rigidity issues wit any of your haas machines? my machine has issues holding tolerances sometimes, sometimes i need to do spring passes in just aluminum, whats ur experience with this?
Much how like a new car is only sold through a dealership system, Haas has "HFO's" or Haas factory outlets that function in the same manner. Shipping is done through the HFO, depending on the size/scale of the machine. Rigging could be as simple as a heavy forklift to get it off the truck and drive it inside by the purchaser (how we have always done it). Or more involved with multiple outside personnel assisting on something larger like a horizontal. Actual machine setup/assembly is done by an HFO technician.
TLDR yes. When I was shopping Haas they explained they have set rigging contracts per machine model from their factory outlets, HFO’s. I ended up getting a DN Solutions (Doosan) SVM4100 instead of a VF 2. Best decision I’ve made for the company and I had a much better experience with Ellison and DN at every turn than Haas
Horizontal machines are the shit. But why such loyalty to Haas? Their machines are very under-speced for the price. You can get twice the machine for the same price with Doosan/DN Solutions.

Horizontal are a thing of beauty. The factory I work at has 5 horizontal centers connected to three different pallet pools.
