- What's up guys? We are so excited to have Albino Nelsons Milk Snakes available for purchase at our Point of Sale, and so of course we were going to build a set up and raffle it off in store. I created this 24x18x18 enclosure that includes some of my favorite plants, and some really cool pieces of wood I've been saving for a project such as this.Nelson’s are a subspecies of the king snake and are found in Mexico to the Pacific Coast. These colubrids can average 42 inches long and are nonvenomous. They make for a great beginners snake as long as you keep in mind that they can defecate when held if they are not used to being handled. Such a beautiful snake!

This was the most informative video I have seen since I started researching for my first milk snake, very helpful and answered questions I couldn’t find answers to elsewhere ❤
Awesome, I am so glad it was helpful! We appreciate you support!
Thanks bro, love your energy cheers from colorado
Sick cage dude looks so cool
Been wanting to do something like this for a while. Actually how I found your channel XD
This is by far the most informative video I have found to build my first bioactive tank. I love all of the information you give & I will definitely be purchasing from your website! Thank you for all that you 😁
What are the benefits of putting the darkling beetles in the tank? Do they consume the poop & other stuff that sits on the surface? Would my milk snake attempt to eat them? My milksnake is
Will this work for a non-albino Nelson's too?
Asking for a friend
Yea. It is still the same species.
Honestly should work with a lot of colubrids
Nope….only a white one
Love the Milk snake
Seria legal se você fizesse um terrario para aranhas saltadoras eu tenho algumas e não sei decorar o terrario delas
What substrate would you use for a Honduran milk snake?
Most bioactive builds I've seen use a false bottom layer. Does this one not need it because you dont need such high humidity?
yep!
Do you have to dig up the enclosure to find the little snake if handling? I'm considering bio setup but also want to be able to get it used to me .
Over time you get to know your milk snake and their hiding spots, mine loves two spots in his terrarium so far it hasn’t changed :)
So I have a milk snake in this type of environment and he never comes up. Just burrows. Should I dig him up and grab him to hold him? I don’t want to bug him lol he’s shy.
Some prefer to be buried! that is just how they want to be lol You can wait till he is out or dig him out gently so as to not scare him :) Hope this helps! www.thebiodude.com/blogs/helpful-husbandry-faqs/tips-for-handling-your-reptiles
Do you need to regularly spray a tank like this? I’m going to get a king snake soon and I really want a rich luscious bioactive setup but I’m debating going full glass enclosure or trying to get the same look in a wooden/pvc tank.
He has a king snake setup video. If I remember correctly he uses a misting machine for the king snakes, 30 seconds in the morning, 30 seconds in the evening.
Do u use a heat lamp and heat mat?
36inch 30W T8 UVB 5.0 Reptile Light is this safe for my albino milk snake or if light to strong
I have an albino milk snake too
Where do you get those wooden stands? I'm having trouble finding a stand that could hold 2 tanks like that without getting a shelf rack.
Do you find the snakes uproot the plants if you just put them in the substrate without the pots?
Does this work for normal morphs aswell?
Hey there, bio active would work for any morph of any species.
are the plants gona be fine without false bottom
Is there such a thing as a frosted albino Nelson’s milk snake morph?
Hey hey! with the amount of them available i would join a group on facebook that deals with milk snakes and ask there as they will know more on that! sorry we couldnt answer this!
Can we get a update on the ackies
We sure can --- I am filming today so I will do an update with them as well.
Would there be any drawbacks to putting a baby milk snake into its adult-size enclosure? I imagine not, since their natural environment would be as-far-as-they-can-slither, but I'd just like to double check. :)
There can be too much space, even if its cluttered enough. its best to size they up as they grow.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Then I'm glad I asked! Thank you for your answer!
Would this setup be appropriate for an albino Honduran Milksnake as well?
changing husbandry requirements it should be fine.
did not go over a wtering routine
Can you please do an update on this tank
is there a similar cheaper substrate i could use?
Hi
What do the beetles do?
Could you please specify the specific type of beetles you are referring to? I want to make sure I provide an appropriate answer to your question. In the video we do mention the Isopods, which serve as a beneficial "clean up crew" within your enclosure.
Do you spray or water the plants periodically? If so, How much?
its to whatever humidity requirements the animals need, typically basing the biome off their natural environment will give the plants the same humidity.
*screams in plant nerd*
Would a honduran milk snake use the same kit?
I think so, I'll be using similar for mine soon. I might change the plants or even the clean-up crew to be more locale-specific, but overall I recon this'll work like butter on a biscuit.
Probably just terra firma is good because they come from South America where its humid
Do a corn snake bio set up
make me
If he fixes his mask one more time
Its tough when it always slides down >.< The struggle is real lol
It’s a nice tank but it looks like it’s to much stuff in there.
hey hey! the extra decor is for enrichment, It is cluttered within reason as more empty space can cause stress issues in reptiles not feeling covered enough, the extra decor also adds more surface area to be explored that isnt just flat exposed glass.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter I understand all those points but still to much for me lol.
Sell the masks please mate
We get it you practice mask safety but for the sake of a good sounding video take it off it’s just you and your camera person in there it’s ok.
get rid of the music
Im glad here in Georgia we dont have to wear those stupid mask, but no disrespect to anyone who wears one .....to each his own
Thanks for sharing
Whew, glad I don’t live in stupid GA. 🙄 How’s that working out for you? Lol
nobody asked but thanks for sharing
A 75 gallon for a Nelson milksnake??! 😳 im all for providing more space but most milks, corns and kings even as adults will do perfectly fine in a 40 gallon long.
Everything is bigger in Texas dude! ;)
They’re active snakes, space is good. And Josh doesn’t settle for “just fine” he wants animals to thrive.
@@MaleficentHipster a Nelson’s Milksnake can thrive in less than a 75 gallon tank. They aren’t big snakes. 🤦🏻♂️
