Hi Maggie, you’re so on point! First time I went out of U.S. I went to Spain for 3 weeks. Found out quickly about having an “American” attitude…..went to a restaurant and asked the waiter what kind of “pan” they had……expecting a plethora of choices. He quickly told me, “pan”! Well, I found out that the only choice was the best bread I’d ever had! I quickly realized that I was in THEIR country. Now everywhere I’ve traveled I so enjoy meeting the locals, using my fractured Spanish and enjoy the differences. Right now I’m ashamed to be an American! So enjoyed this video….🥰👍

Amen! Im planning my move to Panama.I left one expat group because of the contempt or disrespect several people showed for Panamanians - acting like locals should conform to them. No one forced them to immigrate into another country. Yes, expats...YOU are immigrants. Learn Spanish.

I'm glad I found you. I agree with you. It is not for everyone but some feel forced into it by their financial situation. Maggie, (not patronizing) you have probably the most wise and level headed advice I've heard on youtube concerning this topic. My wife and I migrated to the US almost 40 years ago and have traveled the world over; your commentary is on point. We were in an all inclusive tour in Eastern Europe and the american couple next to us was complaining that they hated the tour because after 3 days we hadn't stopped at a McDonald's. 😂😂😂

I love the dogs in Panama, they have an independent spirit. Unlike dogs in the US, they have an independent life away from their human family. A few days ago I was in Volcan & 3 dogs visited our table when we were having lunch. I gave them some love & a couple of bites of my taco & they were happy before heading out to their next person to visit.

Maggie, I'm so glad you're speaking on this! There are Americans who live a 1 hour drive between their town/city... and they've never gone the distance outside of their town/city. That's mind blowing to me! I'm a single female retired US Army Combat Veteran.. and I'm used to living in other continents! In fact, I prefer it! That's why I am moving abroad! I'm blessed to be living the "American Dream"... I have ALL THE THINGS and I'm debt free! Moreover, I prefer to not live in this toxic America that I made my life sacrifices for! I'm HAPPIER when I'm out of this cuntry! And that's sad to say! I have the big beautiful home that looks like a "showcase" inside, the top brand SUV & Sedan vehicles (booth paid off), I made my backyard into an oasis! I live in a gated community with ALL the amenities & my home is two story +3,000 sf. THAT'S JUST STUFF! I can have all of that wherever I choose to live. I can't take it with me when I die. I'm 61, happy healthhy, no internal health issues, w/ 2 grown adult sons & no grandchildren! I'm ready to live a more calmer peaceful quality life, and with peace of mind! I"m "unstrapping" so I can travel more easily! I'm not a animal person, I don't have to be. the US is Full of animals & I deal just fine! I don't agree with women referring to themselves as a Bitch, & I don't allow the N-word around me either! Therefore, I won't be around people like that as the same as I don't in the US!
