Hey Bricksie, I’m a Mac guy but like another commenter said, I can’t imagine switching OS in your position. I appreciate the comments people are making that don’t totally flame out one user over another. If you’ve used PC your whole life, stick with it. I’ve been on Mac most of mine, and would be totally frustrated if I had to switch, I’m sure. Good for you for trying something new. I wouldn’t have even given it a shot! I’m so impressed with the studio bro. It looks so awesome.
With friends I kinda joke about Mac and PC. But really just use what you like. I was so sick of windows around 15-20 years ago and started switching to Mac as Windows things died. Glad I made the switch at that time. But yeah, everyone just use what you want.
Being an avid Mac power user for over a decade I can easily agree that the stock MacOS experience doesn’t really compare to windows or even some Linux distributions. There are a few must have features (some of which Bricksie even called out) things like window management and device interoperability often require third party apps such as Rectangle, Amethst, Karabiner, and Android File Transfer
Yeah apple has turned themselves around on the desktop front since ditching intel. They make great stuff but switching is a real pain. I have problems with how they run their company in terms of upgrading and stuff but pc isn't perfect either because windows seems to be getting worse and worse. It's nice that not everyone has kept the pc Vs Mac mindset, it's different tools, different uses, different people at the end of the day.
On the note of it "Only being 2 days!" When I switched OS across all my devices, I found it EXTREMELY confusing but I also knew within the first three hours that I liked it and I was willing to learn how to use the new interface. If the OS was still bothering Bricksie after 2 days then it wasn't for him. Who cares what OS he uses anyway. If he could find a way to run this channel from a smart toaster I would still watch.
You're not gonna understand and adjust to a totally new operating system in 2 days. Same for a Mac user going to a PC. They do the same things just differently. But you always go with works BEST for you. I use both and think the Mac does things that I need for my work faster and better than a PC, but I love PCs too. So keep up the good work and always do what works best for you. Peace.
Just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to start up lego and a channel I just hit 100 subscribers and uploaded a special short for it but I really wanted to thank you Mr Bricksie for being you and doing what you do, cheers my fellow Canadian!
The focus on 4k footage seems... superfluous? Seems like a pretty considerable investment for camera + render rig (~$3,000CAD) to satisfy a relatively small percentage of viewers, and this isn't considering that the type of content this channel provides might not necessarily warrant filming in 4k
Small percentage of users? 4k raw footage benefits all quality levels of viewing. Furthermore even if you don't have a 4k capable device to watch the video on you'll still notice a quality bump setting it to play 4k and letting your device adjust it to whatever your resolution is.
It can be nice just for future proofing. It might not be absolutely necessary at the moment, but if you got the ability, why not? Thats my opinion anyways. Also edditing I WAYY easier for soothing out footage filming in 4k. Also he already had a camera that can shoot in 4 k.

Definitely put the "chill" area next to the kitchenette area, easy to grab a snack/drink and hop onto the couch. Computer area next to the wall by the stairs also makes sense cuz if you ever have more wifi problems you don't have to run that wired network cable across the whole upper area.

The Apple store has training classes for Mac that are free in store, I gave up PCs at home years ago for all the windows patching and virus headaches. As far as upgrades, the best way to work is off an external raid array, have to understand the Mac internal drive operates at L-2 cache speeds, and is many times more efficient then a PC.
Awesome video as always! 20:51 That Ethernet cable on the floor tho. Def would get that figured out before you put stuff along the walls upstairs. That’s why you get a NAS. you don’t have to store anything on your computer. The plus side is you can access all your files from home so you can edit from both places. You’re files will be backed up and upgrading hard drives will be easier and won’t affect your computers.
I use MAC at home and PC at work, so I'm familiar with both interfaces. I find the MAC interface to be simpler and more straightforward, as well as less glitchy. (To be fair, the PC glitches and failures I experience at work may be partially due to the company network programs I have to run there, but user experience for me is so much better with my personal MAC at home.) All that said, if you've never used the MAC interface before and are used to the PC interface, then there is a significant learning curve that can be challenging to adapt to. Both platforms provide options to accomplish most tasks anyone would need. So, as they say, different strokes for different folks. :) (I had left a comment on the last video with all the keyboard/mouse shortcuts and functions for the MAC interface, but it looks like its gone now, so not sure what happened there.)

You can also change the doors of the fridge opening to the other side. Look at the small white dots when you open the fridge door now. they are at the same position as the door is connected to the fridge only a flipped position. Therefore the opening of the doors can be flipped. You just need to screwdriver and flip all the metal parts to the left. And then put the white things you got from the left you can put it in on the right holes.
I told you in the video where you were thinking about purchasing a mac 😉 "You don't specifically need a Mac to work decently on videos. Good luck with the useless learning curve...". Returning is a good decision!
You missed what would have been a very useful feature of the Mac mini. The fact that you could have easily taken it home. For example if you knew there was going to be a large snow storm and you wanted to be able to edit a video, you could.
If you notice on your refrigerator, you can reverse the doors swing good those two little white plugs on the left side they come out and you can turn the door around
I am glad that you are happy with the new PC and mini-kitchen areas. Switching PC OS systems is very frustrating, especially with the advanced technology that you need. So for your own sake you made a good decision.
Glad you're happy with the new setup. I can understand wanting to use something you're familiar with. I look forward to seeing how the studio turns out!
Maybe you could put the computer in that area you have the fridge and kitchen stuff right now so you can look over the Lego city while you work. I have loved the last 2 months of you moving in. Seen every video. Will definitely miss it. 😢 Great stuff.
And the fridge also got broken when you sat it on its side. You need to keep in upright for at least 2 full days to it out plugging it in… it will work but you just ruined the lifespan of that fridge by doing it the way you did. Just for future reference. Fridges need to be kept upright.
I get it but me personally owning both I feel a Mac will last longer and it will be more efficient in the long run. I don’t think any consumer can adjust after two days.
I'm not surprised that you took the Mac Mini back for a PC. But I get it, sometimes you gotta go with what you already know for efficiency sake. I do hope in the future you give Mac another shot. The studio looks so awesome! Can't wait to see all the Lego loaded in!
You might be able to swap the hinges on the fridge so the doors open the opposite direction. Most fridges allow that and it looked like the holes were in yours that allow it.
Very late comment, but I'm a PC and Android user, and have a Mac. It just works with video editing. It takes a few days to get used to using CMD instead of CTRL, but all of the same shortcuts work. I was the same when I got mine, but a few quick google searches and you learn the new shortcuts...An actual Mac keyboard helps with putting the CMD key in the right place. You can "alt-tab" between windows, etc... Anyways, glad you got what works for you in the end.
A quick thought or two: 1. You were never going to figure out the pros and cons of macOS vs Windows in 2 days. That said, if you are very comfortable with Windows, then stick with it. 👍 2. I’m low key uncomfortable with toilet and food dishes in close proximity, but we’ll see.🤔
Don't worry about what other people think about your computer choice. You're the one buying it, using it and dealing with it everyday. Do what's easier for you.
Hey Jordan, I enjoy watching your new studio progress. You might want to consider a short plexiglass wall above your mezzanine shelves. You can put models on top and still see the cloud background. That shelf seems like a tempting place to set things that could then fall off the edge.
Don't worry about the Mac, if isn't for it isn't for you. You need to do what's good for you, you're the one how has to work with it. If viewers are going to be upset with that then that's there problem not yours and why would anyone be upset about that in the first place. I agree with you that it's smart to make the massanine functional and liveable before starting on the city, maby even start with the shalvingrooms because that will give you more space in your basement to menouvre with the tables/plywoodsheets.
@@Bricksie You’re better sticking with what you know so it doesn’t slow down your work flow instead of spending time learning something new when you could be building tables or Lego! 🙂

Fridge door swap is real easy. There are plugged holes to swap to. Take a look. You'll appreciate the little effort for the convenience
You missed what would have been a very useful feature of the Mac mini. The fact that you could have easily taken it home.
For example if you knew there was going to be a large snow storm and you wanted to be able to edit a video, you could.
coming back to windows is like coming back to civilisation after spending months in a cave
Your refrigerator door can open from the left or right by switching the hinges. Notice the white caps on the left side.
So for your own sake you made a good decision.
fridge doors are reversible , you can see covers over the hinge holes the other side
Glad you're happy with the new setup. I can understand wanting to use something you're familiar with. I look forward to seeing how the studio turns out!
I love that you took the mac back! I love my PC and hard wire ethernet is the way to go! excited to see more lego and shelves soon!
20:05 "both of these things here have to sit and rest before you can plug them in"
He knows. Fridge did not appear to be plugged in.
I’m pretty sure you can switch the direction to the fridge door opens I think have that same fridge
The fridge/freezer doors are interchangeable from right and left open. Look at the preset holes to swap the doors
So you got a discotheque. Well no. You didn’t get a better machine, you got a machine that feels familiar to you.
Enjoy!
The studuo looks amazing, but please paint the base board blue, the white strip on just one wall sticks out!
Hey you did a great job having an open mind with the mac! But I fully agree with going back to PC.. I did the same thing a few years ago.
I imagine that there will be a couple of Lego figures inside that PC box 😆
I get it but me personally owning both I feel a Mac will last longer and it will be more efficient in the long run. I don’t think any consumer can adjust after two days.
I'm not surprised that you took the Mac Mini back for a PC. But I get it, sometimes you gotta go with what you already know for efficiency sake. I do hope in the future you give Mac another shot.
The studio looks so awesome! Can't wait to see all the Lego loaded in!
Fun fact: RGB makes the PC go faster 🤷♂
i thought you were 'tech savy', you can do literally every single thing you just said you couldnt do. the exact same basically.😂
You can usually flip the handles on a refrigerator
You might be able to swap the hinges on the fridge so the doors open the opposite direction. Most fridges allow that and it looked like the holes were in yours that allow it.
Incase you didn’t know, you can change which direction the fridge opens.
Fridge freezer doors can be hung either side. They are made to be switched according to the customer’s needs. Have a look at the instructions…
Hi Brixie, you can change the weather door opens on your fridge freezer. Hope this helps you.👍
I built my own PC and have a Mac Mini and use them both everyday. They are both good.
The whole studio looks great; don't forget to remove the protective plastic film from the glass panel on the PC case. So satisfying.
Let’s get back too building Lego I miss that content
You can switch the hinge on that fridge if it bugs you too much
Thinking that you should have kept the other room so it could have been a mini kitchen. Washing dishes in the toilet does not sound good!!
you should be able to switch the fridge door by moving the hinges.
Liking that computer choice Bricksie! Also the studio is looking awesome! Can't wait to see the city as it enters its new form 🎉
A quick thought or two:
1. You were never going to figure out the pros and cons of macOS vs Windows in 2 days. That said, if you are very comfortable with Windows, then stick with it. 👍
2. I’m low key uncomfortable with toilet and food dishes in close proximity, but we’ll see.🤔
Gonna need a mini basketball hoop. LookN good Sir excited to see some Lego go in.
Check out a mesh wifi system that way you can hardwire your PC without having that huge Ethernet cord
You. Know on the fridge you can move them doors to the other side there are caps covering the screw holes
Don't worry about what other people think about your computer choice. You're the one buying it, using it and dealing with it everyday. Do what's easier for you.
You can change how the doors of the freezer open!
You should be able to reverse the door on your mini fridge
Mac takes time to get used to if you’re only used to PC…I love mine but they’re not for everyone!
I tried!
@@Bricksie You’re better sticking with what you know so it doesn’t slow down your work flow instead of spending time learning something new when you could be building tables or Lego! 🙂
@@Bricksie 2 days isn't trying. It takes time. 2 days is not long enough. Everything you've complained about not being able to do can absolutely be done on a Mac. I was a PC user for 15 years before I switched to Mac. Been a Mac user now for 14 years and have no desire to ever use a PC again.
@@happyscrapbooker1712 I think it is for him. I've always used windows, Never owned a mac product. Then I went to school and had to use the macs there for video editing and all sorts. I used macs every day for years. I never got over my frustrations with it, many of which are the same bricksie has. Everything seemed so slow and inefficient. Simple stuff like organizing multiple windows on your screen was fiddly and awkward. Everything just took extra steps that made the experience really frustrating. Was so happy to finish school and never have to touch a mac again.
Mac just doesn't work for some people, It doesn't take that long to figure it out either.
1:40 I am on an IPAD, my phone is a Google Pixel, did have a Samsung Galaxy. My very first computer was an Apple [old school, the screen and “tower” were in one] I loved it. As my son was growing up he got an Alienware computer, he loved that. I then got an HP so I have used both. Both are good, I can’t say one is “bad” because I can pick out bad on both. Good luck!
also you should def get an air fryer very versitile to cook whatever without a stove
Omg! What are you moaning about!
For window and Mac is more less the same window use Ctrl while Mac use cmd
Omg I use Mac and PC simultaneously and it’s really not that difficult.. mostly it’s really similar! Mac is really user friendly though and I can’t believe you gave up like that 😮
But actually based on your previous videos when you thought HDR is a screen resolution and you said 16gb of RAM is worse than 16 gb of integrated memory… it was funny, and when you messed resolution with Hz refresh of the screen.. I could see that coming. 😅
Everything you said about PC is possible on Mac 😂
Yeah people are overstating how difficult it is to adapt, you have to learn some different shortcuts but that's basically it, and that's coming from someone who's never owned any other Apple products either, it's really not as closed-off as people say
You could do everything that you were doing on PC on mac. It's just a learning adjustment that is hard for a lot of people. I bought a sticker for my MAC so I know the commands right on my laptop. love the vids!
I would put the water cooler and fridge closer to the main area and the cabinets further in, since you will almost certainly access the water and fridge most often it means you have a little easier access
Love how awesome the new studio looks. It's come a long way since the big reveal. Can't wait for the lego city and all the greatness.
Pretty sure you can flip the door on the fridge
Good decision on returning the fridge.
No extra points for damaged boxes
