Excellent! We came to help the devastated Mother Land. How many countries now call Britain the Motherland. There was a relationship with our countries and Britain. Now we are expendable, rejected and villianised.
The trauma still continues, despite of what an outsider might assume and still assume!
We paved the way for many 'foreigners' but we have never had the respect for what our parents went through, before coming to this country and really indeed up to today. Windrush Scandal was and still is scandalous!

Thank you for acknowledging me. I in turn want to acknowledge us and encourage all of us to tell our story. It could be to an audience of one person, just tell it.

Royston, I experience you living exactly on-mission here, "for a better, brighter and more inclusive future for all our children". I acknowledge the impact of trauma on your young self, and the consequences of it you've endured ever since. For willingness to step in and speak up, I honour you. Thank you also for your example of breaking silence, for you inspire me to break my own.

I am encouraged by your feedback. I do truly want the silences broken. I want everyone to find their voice and express it, on their own behalf.

Wow! Powerful! You have skillfully and sensitively revealed how Caribbean families and friends became disconnected and dislocated without any attention to the trauma caused. Thank you so much for your courage to break the silence in sharing this incredible part of history that is largely overlooked. May our voices be heard, our sacrifice be acknowledged and the healing continue. 🙏🏾

thank you @mattjbanks its been with me for a while and i am so glad its out now. I was approached to do the TEDx Talk, probably would not have thought about it myself. Now that it is out there, so many have spoken of its personal benefit to them and to their families. Wow!

Royston's TEDx Talk on the Windrush experience was an illuminating and deeply moving presentation. His bravery in sharing such a personal and poignant narrative about the Windrush generation is commendable. As a British born Indian, I was profoundly affected by his exploration of the lingering trauma, especially how it continues to be passed down through generations and remains a wound yet to be fully healed. The talk opened my eyes to new perspectives, shedding light on a significant yet often overlooked part of history. I was captivated, experiencing a whirlwind of emotions, and felt a strong connection to the themes of heritage, resilience, and the ongoing journey towards healing. Royston, thank you for your courage in sharing this story. Your talk is a vital contribution to our understanding of the enduring impact of the Windrush era and its continued relevance in our lives today. Thank you and bless you🙏🏽x
