Saturday night and as is the norm, sod all on TV, so why not watch Del Boy. Really interesting to watch, and as I've a Thunderbird 900, I'm learning even more about my bike. High possibility I'll be doing this to my wheels in the near future. The front wheel is the same as my T/B, so I know it's safe to do, same for the rear too. Looking forward to the next instalment. I'll bring some crisps and drink for that. Thanks a lot for these video's. Take care 👍👍

There is something very English & Yule-tidey about watching you fit a pair of rather nice & seemingly eight foot wide 'summertime lovin' tarmac limpets to the bike, as sleet & wet snow merrily cascades past my window, covering this fair land with friction resistant goop & lightly dusted peasants in wellies. Merry Christmas everyone, 'tis the season to be jolly' . . . & Britain needs lots of jollies at the mo : ) xx
Hang on, you have snow?? You git! Pass some down this way... we never have snow!! And I love it... specially love watching the TV reporters having a nervous breakdown on the morning news for a 3" dusting over East Anglia whilst they hurriedly look up the number for International Rescue! FAB...

Hello Del, fascinating to watch as ever. You might want to consider changing the rubbers between the carbs and head to the less restricted type. The engine runs a lot better without losing too much torque. Also, could you number your videos as I'm finding it difficult to keep up with the correct sequence? LOL. Cheers.
Glad they’re holding!!! Oddly enough my rear isn’t holding pressure after i took it off and replaced the Cush drives. Thinking I’m gonna try to jack it up to 60 psi and see if it simply broke the bead loose. Took some work to get the hub beat back into place so I think that might have done it. All the best!!!!!!
Had a friend with this issue recently, some corrosion had developed between the lip of the rim and the bead of the tyre and pushed it open slightly... the remedy was to break the beads off both sides, clean round the inside of the rims with a Scotchbrite with some soapy water to rinse any crud away, and then a soapy water mix and re-seat the tyre, sealed first time!
looks great. Only thing id have possibly done different would be to use a 45 or 90 valve stem. I always have a bugger of a time getting most air hoses on my spoked wheels. The angled valve stems have been a life saver! So jealous of the wheel setup! Love it!
I see how tubeless are a real treat, while having the visual appearance of old spoked ones. I still havent got your take about seizing up the spokes with that sealant, though. Would you care to elaborate a bit about that point? Because I believe spoke tension is critical with those rims, and I don´t know how you would set that properly when you add the resistance of the sealant.
Great job as always bro..good after to you and the family and I hope is safe you and taking care....I have a crack in my front wheel..I had take it to weld but it still leak..I do what you did with the sporks rims..seal it with the wind sheal sealer ..I had taught of it but when you did it I was right..thanks and keep your blessing going ..take care and be safe nuff live and respect big D💝👊🤗
Cool. Great job I just ordered replacement tires for my street 750 I found the problem I was having..... a pinched keyway to the flywheel. Acted like it was throw off the timing. How it got pinched I think harley did it. The case gasket had a split top side they glued it. When i asked about it they denied being inside the motor
Hi Bob, wonderful to hear from you... and glad you got that sussed and back under way...! Send us a picture of the bike if you get time, be great to see how it's looking now!... Keep safe and well there, all the best, Del
I admire your thoroughness. In that vein, you can easily get rid of any *"stiction" in the axle* during balancing by tapping it with a wrench (spanner) or other small metal tool as the wheel slows. In the old days of analog volt/ohm meters, electronic technicians would tap the pivot point of the needle to make sure it had come to rest properly without an error due to "stiction". Another technique is to put a vibrator against the axle as the turning wheel slows.
It’s really nice for us all to see how our bikes all fit together, really loving this project.....in fact it may be my favourite one so far Del.. Well done, thanks and kind regards.
Great to hear Beans, glad you're enjoying the project, be good to get out once we get back to normal! Keep safe there and thanks for your loyal support mate!

Thank you Ruud, welcome back, not sure how long since you watched, but we are still working day jobs, the Channel supports itself, but it doesn't pay the 'rent', that's down to us! Thanks for your kind words, enjoy the videos, this project is going to be a great outcome!
Sweet vid, Del... your usual meticulousness at work. BTW, I’d like to advise you that you’ve been awarded the *Queen’s Royal Fastest Hammer in all of Blighty* designation! Stay well my friend! 🏍👍🏍
Wow, thanks Gary! I'll look forward to getting my award... I imagine it'll be a blurred hammer on a plinth?! Hope you're well Sir, have a fabulous weekend and keep safe!
Partly budget mate, I have to keep a tight rein on the spending with this project, the bike came with two almost brand new Michelin Pilot Power 2CTs, so was able to re-use the front, then match the rear as I was upgrading to a wider rim and a 180 tyre... so the whole upgrade cost me just £85 in tyres... which was a lot cheaper than buying a pair! Plus they're great tyres and well respected.
As expected Del 1st class job & the overall look is morphing pleasingly (man I've gotta lay off alphabet soup) Penny's goin a brill job with the camera. If i can get Mrs Jimbo involved i might also make a video, afterall I'm sure i can hold a camera 🤣 Have a good weekend you two.
looks great Del. as far as the balancing goes why do the cush drive and rotors did not figure into it, they have rotating weight wouldn't they affect the balance.
Sprocket carrier isn't a fixed part of the wheel and that's not to say it doesn't rotate, but when you take your wheel for a new tyre the tyre fitter will always balance it without the sprocket carrier, and I've always done the same... but if it would make you happier to do yours with it on, then there's nothing wrong with that, but beware, if you ever take your sprocket carrier off you must re-fit it at exactly the same rotational point, otherwise it'll obviously throw out the balancing... perhaps mark it before removing it.
They look reall smart Del Just not sure how you would go about replacing or re tensioning spokes in the future interested to hear your thoughts Nick Australia
My thoughts? Not sure what you mean there mate, it's the same process as any other time, it's only a thin coat of rubber mate, just splits out on demand, same procedure as normal!
Very well put together del .looking good and you almost got me at the end with that segment on rear end plans !! Im sitting thinking " oi you aint gonna let us see how the fat one looks in the rear end " !!! Like I said looking very nice del boy 👍
Pilot Power 2CTs? I think the bike would have deserved something more modern like a Power 5! I'm just saying... these tyres are really, really outdated and tyre technology has come far since then... As for the bike itself: Love it! Beautiful build!!!
Governed on budget my friend, when I bought the bike the front tyre was almost brand new, zero wear on it and dated last year, so the most common sense way to keep a rein on the funds was to buy a matching 2CT for the rear, and much as they may have brought out successive models, they're still making the 2CT's as it's dated 6 months ago, plus it's more than enough for this bike, after all, it's not a sportstbike, but purely a budget decision mate!
Hi Del, great video, looked like the balancing gave you a great deal of pleasure!. Please could I ask why the ptfe spray (or gt85) on the cush drive?. Take care you both, cheers
Hi Steve, it was very rewarding to get it bang on, the PTFE spray was purely as a lubricant to slide the cush drives and sprocket carrier in neatly and it keeps them supple going forward, slows down the inevitable process of drying out that all rubber suffers with, being PTFE it does no harm to the rubber... kinda like a conditioner!
@@Moonfleet41 - The PTFE would also act as a lubricant between the vanes and the rubber blocks to lessen wear of the rubber blocks due to torque - small effect, but hey, it's cheap to treat.
Hi Del 'n' Pen, Looking better every time. Is objectophilia really a thing or is it just a semi ? Nice to see Joe Pie's onboard in the comments, I notice even although he's a genius he didn't get all worked up about the weight of the 'balance tape' ;) Like some before.
Sure thing buddy, I've had to rein in my replies on some of this, the balance tap products are probably very good, there's always a different way to do things and evidently this works as I've found, and you have proven! It is a privilege to have Joe's appreciation, I'm glued to every episode of the steam engine build and learning every step of the way... have 100amp 3-Phase coming soon, so once in to next year, hope to be machine shopping and this time something with a gearbox rather than belts... and I'll get to use that glorious tool-post set up you sent me.... Have a great weekend buddy! D&Px
Another amazing video Del, please do not stop making these, I have learned so much from them, I noticed there was one nut case who was doing his best to pull you down, I soon put him in his place, all the Best !
Thank you for your kind support my friend, the internet will always churn out negative people, but it's there problem, not mine, we just get on here with what we love to do.
Absolute fabulous job! Wheels looks amazing! Great to get rid of those annoying inner tubes, I was thinking of that myself last spring but was too lazy. It's such a nice feeling when balancing is spot in, right?
Sure thing Fredrik, the wheels were both pretty spot on already, just a minimal amount of weight needed for a perfect balance! Glad you enjoyed, plenty more to come!
No mate, the sprocket carrier plays no part in wheel balancing, it's not fixed to the wheel and it moves around within the cush drives during riding, so it's not a 'constant'... thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video!
@@Moonfleet41 - Yup, it moves forward and back a few degrees relative to the wheel, but it still spins (at the same average speed of the wheel), and thus subject to imbalance.
@@daveinwla6360 there are some made of aluminium, really light. I have never weighed those against the original. But the angle valves made easier to calibrate. The looks are a matter of personal preference.
Andrew Almeida: Indeed, I would love to have used the flat cast OEM Triumph style valve blocks, but they're 4x the price of these and we're really watching the budget as not only as I'm already pretty spent out on this build already, but we have some even bigger expenses coming next year, so purely economics mate!
back ends.... You more than likely already know this.. but I just hit the issue. YSS Aftermarket shocker for the divi 900. replaced all lower bearings, and still had play. Looked at the top bearing in the shocker.. worn. I'd ordered the original yamaha one, thinking... yeah.. same.. will fit... £35 Nope... yamaha one is double the size.. Wemoto dont list one, but do sell the YSS shocker... Theres a dude up near leeds, who sells YSS parts. £50 odd for the "bearing" and 2 collars plus postage. And its not actually a bearing per ser... Not something I've ever come across before, you might have, but its a cost I never expected.. and not something I ever imagined... SO.... thought it might be something you could mention in the video where you do the rear end?????
Opps. Has hardy would say to laurel. Another fine mess you got me in. Wife said dels popped up again. She said watch after tea. Hell no she aint pleased 🤣🤣🤣
Very nice Del, I enjoy the tyre work, I like doing my own as well. A couple of questions on the materials used; The sealant, is it just RTV or a specialty item? the spray liquid; is it dish soap and water or is that a window cleaner? I enjoyed every part of the build, keep on with these great videos, cheers!
This one will be for sale Gabriel, as was intended when we bought it and planned the project, but of course, only if we get the right offer for it, there's gonna be a lot of investment in the bike and it'll be a pretty special low mileage one-off bike when it's done, complimented with a full service history and mileage record, so a pedigree purchase for someone! Have a great Sunday mate, and thanks for the good wishes!
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks for your reply. And call me Gabe👌. I totally understand the investment end. Not just financially but your TIME also. I rarely recoup the total amount when a sale happens. I'm a hobbyist and do it for the personal enjoyment. Have a great Christmas holiday. Cheers 🍻, G.
@@PaydayGabeBCNV You're absolutely right Gabe, you can never factor in your time and effort, it's not a commercial build, i would just like to recover a fair amount of the parts outlay, at least enough to make the next project bike a better and more exciting journey.. take care my friend, and enjoy your week. Del.
@@bubbles1863 If the bike needs it, it was running perfectly when it came in, but this is a build to make a great bike, no so much going through exercising for no reason, I have to keep the budget under control, so the carbs will get whatever attention they need, if any... but at the mo, they're fine!
Yes indeed, I hear good things about them and I think they are certainly preferential to sticky strips of lead which are always ugly and can fall off... I chose the spoke weights this time because they look pretty cool compared to lead strips and they certainly never come off.
Nice, looking good as always, hopefully the wheel spoke weights will have no detrimental effect on the sealing job you did genuinely enquiring as I have a street scrambler and I’m thinking of going tubeless. Just for the added repairability at the road side🤔
Should be no problem at all mate, they just sit there on the spoke head and mind their own business! They're a press fit, so won't move or cause any problems!

@@Moonfleet41 I think i said earlier, i`m going to be restoring a Daytona 1000, one of the very first Hinckley Triumphs ever made, chassis number 538, and a lot of the methods etc on these vids will come in very handy. One question i meant to ask a while ago, what spray paint do you use, as it takes 2 days to dry, is it basic aerosol, or some specialised stuff?. I`ve heard of the 2 pack aerosols, i wondered whether that`s what you are using?.
@@neillambton4065 Hi again Neil, the paint I've used on the forks and yokes is Simoniz Tough Paint, it's a chip resistant mineral based paint that cures rather than dries, so takes about 2 days to stablise in a mild environment, then stays flexible and durable for good... !
More important than that mate, it's a great way to pick up sharp things on the floor of the garage and save them in readiness for when you take your first ride so it can insert them in the rubber for you!! Plus,.., yeah I don't like sticky tyres either ;-)

Governed on budget my friend, when I bought the bike the front tyre was almost brand new, zero wear on it and dated last year, so the most common sense way to keep a rein on the funds was to buy a matching 2CT for the rear, and much as they may have brought out successive models, they're still making the 2CT's as it's dated 6 months ago, plus it's more than enough for this bike, after all, it's not a sportstbike, but purely a budget decision mate!
enjoyed that ! great camera work ,lighting and detail explanation through out , well done guys
Much appreciated Mike!
That’s a nice backend fa sho!!!
Hi Del, great video, looked like the balancing gave you a great deal of pleasure!. Please could I ask why the ptfe spray (or gt85) on the cush drive?.
Take care you both, cheers
Hi Steve, it was very rewarding to get it bang on, the PTFE spray was purely as a lubricant to slide the cush drives and sprocket carrier in neatly and it keeps them supple going forward, slows down the inevitable process of drying out that all rubber suffers with, being PTFE it does no harm to the rubber... kinda like a conditioner!
many thanks, great tip to use.@@Moonfleet41
@@stevehill1826 .
@@Moonfleet41 - The PTFE would also act as a lubricant between the vanes and the rubber blocks to lessen wear of the rubber blocks due to torque - small effect, but hey, it's cheap to treat.
Great work Del. Could you explain the use of different grease etc like you used to in future vids. Would be helpful. Bike looking great 👍
Outstanding as always!
Wow, thanks mate!
Hi Del 'n' Pen,
Looking better every time.
Yay its fridel which means its vid time :-) fantastic build mate this bike is gonna be another stunner
Great video! As always. Could you talk about the different greases you used in your next video?
Thanks for the video
Our pleasure!
Those wheels n tyres look bloody lovely mate. Crackin job.
Thank you Sir, glad you approve!
Love the way you sealed the rims.
Nice job Del. I like the look. That bike is going to be very smooth when it gets out on the road. Stay well and ride safe.
Thank you kindly Sir, loving the steam engine build, and just checking, how's the bike build coming along? 👍
Great job del, gotta love Michelin road pilots, awesome tyres
Brand new! Looks great and perfect balanced 👌
Thanks! 👍
nice video any chance you can make a video on ABS brakes for a motorcycle?
Good job Del that’s gonna be one hell of a nice bike 🔩⚙️🔧👍
Thanks buddy, still a long way to go, but aiming high!
Quality work as always Del an Penny
Thank you!
@@Moonfleet41 keep up the quality work
Brilliant job, Del and Penny. Question, Del - should you have waited to balance the rear wheel AFTER mounting the drive and sprocket?
No mate, the sprocket carrier plays no part in wheel balancing, it's not fixed to the wheel and it moves around within the cush drives during riding, so it's not a 'constant'... thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed the video!
@@Moonfleet41 - Yup, it moves forward and back a few degrees relative to the wheel, but it still spins (at the same average speed of the wheel), and thus subject to imbalance.
@@Moonfleet41 ah, gotcha Del. Thanks for the explanation.
Looks the mutts nuts, love a new set of boots, good work Del.
Question, Why not use those angle valves? Other than that, great content... =)
IMHO, the straight valves look better. They also have less mass.
Looked at the top bearing in the shocker.. worn.
I'd ordered the original yamaha one, thinking... yeah.. same.. will fit... £35
Nope... yamaha one is double the size..
Nice wheels!
This build is ticking all my OCD boxes 😀👍
What year is this bike?
2000 mate.
Morning Del and Penny 🙋♂️. So,, when everything is said and done,, what is your plan for the the machine??
Keep or sell??🤷♂️
Del.
I really like the way you work. Looks easy when watching your videos. Thanks. Keep going
Glad you like them!
Bikes looking good now
Love it !!! You can see love on every move, thorough perfect work!
Thanks so much Istvan, really appreciate your kind words!
Class job del 👍
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed! 👍
@@Moonfleet41 can't wait for this one to be finished del are you going to do the carburetor? really love to see you doing a rebuild on a set 😁
@@bubbles1863 If the bike needs it, it was running perfectly when it came in, but this is a build to make a great bike, no so much going through exercising for no reason, I have to keep the budget under control, so the carbs will get whatever attention they need, if any... but at the mo, they're fine!
absolutely brilliant Del. Love watching your vids.
Thanks, glad you like them Mike! 👍
Just curious, for balancing I use internal Dyna beads on my Goldwing any they work great. Have you or would you use them on tubeless tires?
That is really coming along, and now the wheels have been slaved in, you can see she`s going to be a real looker. Can`t wait to see the finished bike..
Thank you Neil, fair way to go yet, stripping the whole back end out in the next video!
"Right! Good morning, welcome back, okay..." man do I like hearing this! Love your content Delboy!
Thank you buddy, you're most welcome!
And I thought Friday couldn’t get any better. I was wrong!
a lot of people make videos now but don't speak I don't know if it's a trendy thing or not but it's not for me I'm afraid
That looks sweeeeeeeeet del nice one
Cheers buddy, happy with it so far!
Enjoying your video,s.
Happy days
Awesome del 👍👏👏👏👍
HA, pulls sticker off tire and then cleans off the glue (that would wear off on the road... guess no one likes STICKY tires) :)
More important than that mate, it's a great way to pick up sharp things on the floor of the garage and save them in readiness for when you take your first ride so it can insert them in the rubber for you!! Plus,.., yeah I don't like sticky tyres either ;-)
@@Moonfleet41 Ahhhh always thinking ahead! Good mechanic!
And tire stickers spinning 'round and 'round are a sign of a rider who is just "out to lunch".
Hi i just watched your video is it still hold tubeless?
Yes of course, like any other tubeless tyre.
@ so i am planning to do in my africa twin love your video thanks
its looking so good dude
Love the wheels and tyres del its coming together lovely carnt wait for the next one 👍
