  • My plan for IWD was to share about the women I met during our WRA Global conference in Kenya, and what they taught me about the women and girls they represent from Africa and Asia. I had prepared stats, quotes, and stories to share. I couldn't wait to show our supporters my enthusiasm for working with my WRA colleagues globally.
Unfortunately, when you live with chronic illness and disability - especially autoimmune diseases - plans are disrupted by pain and suffering without warning. Which of course is what happened to me over the last week. Instead of executing my original vision, I recorded a quick video from my bed an hour ago using most of my remaining "spoons". It is what it is, as the trite saying goes.
I want every single one of my spoonie siblings out there know that YOU MATTER. WE MATTER. Our pain and suffering is NOT our fault. We are VALUABLE individuals who bring light into this world even on the days we can't leave our beds. People suffering from chronic and hidden medical diseases are overlooked and ignored by society. But not by me, and not by WRA UK. We see you. We listen to you. We are here for you. For this International Women's Day, we hope your pain lessens soon.
