What a way to start 2023. on your first trip out. For the first half of the video nowt going right, but then you turned it around, the grin on your face got bigger with each fish coming aboard. If only you knew what else your videos do for some people including me! I am from Edinburgh but currently in Australia trying to find work. I am not having the best of times at the moment and miss home like mad! Your videos take my mind off what’s going on just now and actually make me feel like I’m on the boat with you. My mind is able to escape and brings me a lot of comfort, just wanted to make you aware that other than the knowledge and entertainment you supply, you are also helping out a few folk including me through harder times… especially with a 45 min video like this 👍🏽cheers and take care

Another fantastic day shared with us, I hope that the Cornish tourist people pay you for the advertising! Glad that you explained that the fishing gear was put there on purpose, I always thought that the nets snaged the wrecks by accident. To cap it all you even got a PB dogfish, (well sort of).
Mackerel make great bait, but even better, they make a nice meal if you don't catch anything bigger. So catching them is a win/win. As always, watching your videos is a joy/source of envy to this mountain dweller. Keep up the good work.
“Strike hard, first ten feet are crucial” surprised to hear you use feet instead of meters but that advice is gold! Just got back from an offshore wreck trip, had a ton of porgies (kinda like a bream over there) woulda loved to pull up a pollock or some ling like you did in this video but that’s why they call it fishing and not catching. I did pull a decent ling out of a wreck but he dropped off about half way up, love the content keep it coming!
Heck of a successful trip! I lived in Suffolk for 3yrs with the USAF and hired a charter for ling. Didn't catch a thing and was using some ugly looking worms for bait. Wish I'd been with you!
After many decades of using many different brand of fishing Rods, Shakespeare Ugly sticks are still one of my most reliable brands . I’ve had many, The value in the rods has stood the test of time. Most of my rods gets broken during travel or boat mishaps. At one time I had a few broken Ugly Sticks and I sent them to the local warranty center, and was happy to have nice new replacements for each of them. I was thrilled, so I ordered a couple of custom setups for something special, and they put together a nice pair of heavy trolling rods for me. Sure hope the company is doing good, the rods are good and the warranty is good.

Nice one John, some monsters there and a bonus spur. I used to do a lot of small boat wrecking but got expensive steaming 6 - 12 miles out and back plus drifting all day, then I got a job on a wrecking boat and got paid for it, major win!😁 Looking forward to see what 23 brings 👍
@@TheFishLocker No not at all, just finding them for the first time is an achievement in itself because they're never where they're meant to be on a chart. One old skipper I worked for started off just with decca so when he got GPS he was so used to doing everything by numbers he didn't use a plotter at all. I need the plotter lines to be accurate haha 👍

Forgot to mention that back in the 60's Russian trawlers decimated the fish stocks, so good to see the dolphins back enticed by lots of mackerel & the like.

Heck of a successful trip! I lived in Suffolk for 3yrs with the USAF and hired a charter for ling. Didn't catch a thing and was using some ugly looking worms for bait. Wish I'd been with you!
That sounds odd to use worms for ling? Were they rubber lures?

After many decades of using many different brand of fishing Rods, Shakespeare Ugly sticks are still one of my most reliable brands .
I’ve had many, The value in the rods has stood the test of time. Most of my rods gets broken during travel or boat mishaps.
At one time I had a few broken Ugly Sticks and I sent them to the local warranty center, and was happy to have nice new replacements for each of them. I was thrilled, so I ordered a couple of custom setups for something special, and they put together a nice pair of heavy trolling rods for me. Sure hope the company is doing good, the rods are good and the warranty is good.

I used to do a lot of small boat wrecking but got expensive steaming 6 - 12 miles out and back plus drifting all day, then I got a job on a wrecking boat and got paid for it, major win!😁

@@TheFishLocker No not at all, just finding them for the first time is an achievement in itself because they're never where they're meant to be on a chart.
One old skipper I worked for started off just with decca so when he got GPS he was so used to doing everything by numbers he didn't use a plotter at all.
I need the plotter lines to be accurate haha 👍

Forgot to mention that back in the 60's Russian trawlers decimated the fish stocks, so good to see the dolphins back enticed by lots of mackerel & the like.
