Not really. Tom means to boil. Yum means to mix things together haphazardly. Yum is also a type of Thai dishes that is about mixing cooked ingredients together. Yum, in food terms, are usually spicy.

Dear Laura. Teriyaki means "rake roast" because farmers roasted meat on rakes during harvest. The flavor is generally a mixture of soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic.
I think you’ve mixed up with sukiyaki. Suki(鋤) = rake. Teriyaki(照り焼き) means ‘shiny roast’, because it contains sugar and it caramelize the ingredients. Also it normally contains sugar, sake = rice wine, mirin = sweet cooking sake, and soy sauce. Garlic and ginger is not traditionally the key ingredients of teriyaki. Garlic is not traditional Japanese ingredient. It’s more continent Asia

I like to get a packet of ramen, but just cook the noodles without the package of seasonings. Then I add a cheddar cheese sauce to it. Mix it with some diced green onions & red peppers. And then lay on top of it some spicy BBQ pulled pork. Top with sesame seeds. PERFECTION!

I could LIVE on spicy ramen. My absolute fave at the moment is *Nongshim Shin Black spicy pot-au-feu flavor (beef bone broth),* the packaged one not the instant cup version (the cup one is ok, but the noodle texture suffers greatly for being an instant version). It has 2 separate soup base packets (plus a vegetable packet w/ mushrooms, sliced garlic and scallions), one is the main flavoring (the beef bone broth), and the other is the spicy powder so you can add as little or as much of it as you want without sacrificing the flavor of the soup broth since it's separate. It's genius and sooo delicious! Try it, you'll be hooked!
I ordered some South Korean snacks on Amazon. One of them was a ramen bowl that was completely in Korean except for one large warning in English "very spicy!" They were not joking. It was the kind of hot where you gotta keep eating so your mouth doesn't just melt
