I was just browsing TH-cam and came across this show. I lost my father to covid a years ago and my family moved to another city for 10 months. I spent almost a year depressed, grieved and post covid. All alone not leaving the house and this show became something like home, your conversations, natural way of constructive disagreements with each other and honest reviews which felt different from traditional shows got me through my loneliness, grief and depression. I would just turn this show on and it made me feel like i am not alone at home. unknowingly you became part of my home. Thanks for keeping it light, homely and quality discussion. I don't watch dramas but still like to hear your analysis as it resonates with a sane narrative that our dramas are taking us to stone age, so outdated and extremely gender insensitive. I also like another aspect that one host asks the other about her health situation in detail and listens to her. in this age my heart breaks for thousands of people who are suffering for not hearing any encouraging words. keep this tradition going. Kudos to you two. Best

Tere Bin: Thappad was genuinely not reqd but I guess the makers wanted to show the helplessness of Meerab and the after effect of thappad on Murtasim wherein he feels really gulity and starts feeling for Meerab. Meerab now in helplessness sees the soft side of Murtasim when he apologies and also takes her to Karachi and mazaar. But these feelings cld have been portrayed in some other way.
P.S. also meerab fainted after thappad maybe due to inhaling so much of smoke and that thappad made her more weak and she fainted.

Kuchh Ankhai - The best job is done by the director in making this drama so relatable. Director has shown fine details like Sajal asking for matching dopata and then wearing the same in rest of the episode, then Sajal eating cereal and Taniya eating Omlette (in other dramas all we see is an orange juice jug with bread slices), then house-helper asking Samia to make tea for her while she finishes work, the woman who lives on rent is pretty much involved emotionally with the house owners, house-helper warning Isra ji of Muhammad ahmed's health, Taniya's friend's equation with the family, the little conversation of house helper's husband and his nephew about phone showing what kind of person he is. This drama doesn't say anything explicitly but through actions of characters define them.
Samia doesn't talk about her own issue but she talks for Taniya to her mother. such a cute bond of sisters.
Watching this drama feels like you are sitting on a couch and watching scenes from your own home or some neighbor's place, that's how relatable it feels.
And especially thanks to Writer and director for bring up the topic of inheritance.

Aik Thi Laila's last episode made perfect sense to me. Even without season 2 it works as a standalone series and here's how. Laila had gone missing so it was logical why all the men would make most of this and tweak the incidents to their advantage - even her friend did that. Little did they know that Laila is with Inspector Saajid. The way they showed in the last episode that it was Laila who was the victim instead and the way she turns the tables was executed perfectly. I don't think so she was made a bechari as Aamna said. I liked how they didn't justify Laila's missing as a ramification of her being an opportunist, blackmailer, flirt (as was portrayed in the first 5 episodes). Even Saajid's slap was okay because he is not shown as a saintly character, he did not trust Laila and just the fact that he can slap women too showed us that Saajid is not the ideal man either. They did not glorify the slap as in Kabir Singh. Laila with Qais evoked mystery and even after the truth you realise that you haven't figured Laila all out after all.

Amna- even and emotionally “strong” person can dissociate or faint in context of a traumatic experience. It’s important to acknowledge that trauma can affect all of us differently despite our strengths. The last thing we want to convey to people is that we are “not strong” if we faint in response to trauma. Our brains are programmed in a way tend to switch from mammalian brain to our reptilian brain in the context of trauma. The response can be fight, flight, freeze and even fawn. All humans (and yes this includes “strong” humans) tend to loose their higher cerebral functioning (mammalian brain) and respond in ways to protect themselves in the moment. This protection could include any response ranging from fight to flight, or even freeze and fawn.

Tere Bin, a directional flaw: Wahaj put his hand behind Yumna, before she actually fainted after the slap. Timing was a bit off.
The namaz scene, with the hero looking from outside, the lighting, the cinematography, everything looked beautiful. But then the usual future teller baba arrived and gave a dagga to the girl to tie for mannat. This is even more toxic, and obnoxious than showing a slap, because they were actually advocating and preaching to do a wrong, a biddah, when we already have so much jahalat. When the girl had asked Allah directly for help, what would a lifeless dagga tied to a jali do? They showed a wrong as a right. Please don’t make a mockery of, rather abuse religion.

    • @mamanain
      @mamanain ปีที่แล้ว +6

Exactly! I was so irked by that baba scene and as soon as I saw that, I was like "here it goes again". Also the dialogue from Wahaj "Mene apni poori zindagi mei kabhi kisi aurat ko abuse nahi kia" No dude! That is not how it works. If you have never hit a woman physically, it doesn't happen all of a sudden one day. There is a thought process that leads to it. It happens because somewhere in your mind, you think it is a no big deal. I think they just inserted the dialogue for some redemption.
And his apology was also really half-hearted. That was not the apology of someone who has "never hit a woman"

Mere humsafar was very disturbing the way Hala was treated as a child. People don't discuss that. Either you show only the right things or you tell stories that happen every day, although wrong .
Coming to the drama , yumna s acting was so powerful talking to her parents from outside the closed door . It was emotionally moving. Wahaj expressed so much through his eyes . You could see his heart melting .Both of them are terrific actors . Next episodes should be exciting . Guys please it is time to hold 7th Sky accountable. Please ask them what the hell is wrong with them? Episode 5 of Tere Bin could easily not be aired. From burning pictures to slapping Meerab to half hearted apology, this episode was classic sensational dream of the makers. Please convey to actors and makers and build accountability. I think when the teasers themselves were out containing slaps , pressure and questions were important for makers to atleast reconsider editing such scenes out. Murtasim was not toxic at all. He just had anger issues. Makers made sure he gets that tag !

    • @kalam000
      @kalam000 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@isratsarker7930 the point is these makers have certain formulas that they have set for the audiences. There is nothing wrong with watching a drama like Tere Bin. The issue is about sensationalism to such an extent that you add a slap when it is not even needed ! Audiences didn't know that slap was coming . Makers knew. They put it in the teasers and many members from the audience called it all out but our voices cannot be as direct unless a platform takes it up. Hence platforms like Something Haute come into play. That's why I am asking them to hold these makers accountable. Tere Bin started trending from episode 1 itself. It needed no slaps to be a hit. It needed no such violent tropes. Wahaj as Murtasim was so interesting as a character. He had shades of gray but also a gentle side. They ruined him. So the onus also lies on makers. Otherwise Yumna's another drama Bakhtawar also isn't conventional. It is different. It was dragged but without having sensational tropes, it has been trending since its beginning.

I would like to bring this to your notice that I strongly feel that the slap scene had a strong purpose and I have two reasons for this:
One, If you look at the scene where Meerab asks Murtasim to see the folder during the wedding she says talks about 'sazza' I feel she will definitely do something against this slap. Meerab is an intelligent characters and she definitely has a gameplay in her mind. Maybe she will take the marriage route to take her revenge and the conditions she puts forth has something to do with slap scene.
Second, during the function where Meerab dances, she is slapped by maa begum for doing so and if you notice after that she says "Jaisi Maa Vaisa Beta" to Murtasim. So, there is a connection of the slap scene in this scene as well.
I feel this drama is more movie like, until everything is unfolded and you see the whole of it, making judgements might not be a great idea. So, its better to avoid rigidity with reviews and setting a mindset in the beginning of the drama. Let's just enjoy it!

Amna and Hassan I have to disagree with you on the slap in TERE BIN. The slap itself is not justified because a man thinking to slap a woman at the slightest provocation must think it's somewhat acceptable to lash out at a woman like that (for example would Murtasim slap his mother in a fit of rage?) so that part is just plain wrong. That being said, saying that the new found softening of Meerub's is out of line with her character and not believable is something I cannot agree with; because even strong people can break down to the extent that they stop believing in themselves or in their strength especially if they're going through one traumatic revelation after another. The disbelief and sheer anguish of finding out her life up until was a lie is one thing, but I believe the reason she just gives up almost is that she derived her strength and her belief in great part from her father. She had such pride in him and felt such pride in his eyes for herself and his treatment of her, that she'd always felt that with her father at her back, she could do anything and fight anyone; like she could take on the world if she had to; hence her prior fierceness. When such a strong source is suddenly eliminated (and remember not just because he is now not supporting her decisions for example her decision not to marry Muratsim which is painful in itself) but because HE IS NOT HER FATHER TO BEGIN WITH and is himself not the man she always thought he was; she no longer understands who she was or what strength means anymore. In such a state of despair, it is not at all unbelievable that she would succumb to the forces in her life trying to force accpetance out of her.
I agree that the adoptive parents not opening the door was a far stretch but if we are to see that the adoptive father finds himself helpless (and weak) in front of Meerub's actual family, his just deciding to give in completely and not entertain her at all makes some sense too; and if nothing else, it drives home the point that Meerub has now COMPLETELY lost the one anchor that kept her afloat no matter what AND also lost the one place that she called home and the one place she had always found a safe haven in. It is a shattering of faith like no other. She doesn't know what to believe anymore. The person who gave her lessons of strength all her life has now left her completed stranded and has himself given in completely, not to mention the fact that he was never her father to begin with and still doesn't think he can claim that position. I think the storyline of her new found acceptance after that scene is extremely believable given the circumstances.
With no one to trust and no place to call home, it's pretty understandable she would find it wise to cling to the only person who has shown her any kind of kindness or hope (notwithstanding the slap) by affirming her despair and agreeing to say no to the marriage in front of everyone for her sake : Murtasim. Yes, this means a very strong character has temporarily become weak (we see in trailers she does defy illogical customs and norms later on despite agreeing to marry Murtasim) but it is a weakness that any person who's human can be expected to show if they were put under such circumstances and subjected to such a crisis of identity and faith.
    Peace.

Aik thi laila was a completely different drama experience. Fresh story, unique manner of story telling and presentation, crisp direction, performances, catchy music and compiling everything in just 6 episodes kept the audience glued to the screen. The last episode was a surprise, a complete turn around. Men, in her life taking advantage of her, the usual liars calling the girl ‘Badkirdar’, hiding their own ugliness. The biggest loser, being the policeman who looked like the saviour, instead turned out to be the most insecure man who couldn’t let go of her past and used state resources and time to make the men utter what he wanted to hear. The girl merely refused to bog down and strived for a better happy life, using some manipulation as was used against her, by the men. Got her man at last, though one episode showing her with her true love Qais, would have been a treat. Overall, Congratulations to the team.👏

Tere Bin: Completely agree that thappar was completely out-of-place - Murtassim had gracefully dealt with much worse insults from Meerab before; this was minute compared to those. I think the writers in this drama have some strong dialogues in mind and they just force situations to use those dialogues (instead of gradually building a story where those dialogues sound more natural) - in this case, I think they wanted to show the scene where father takes a stand for his daughter, etc.
However, I loved the mazzar scene (minus the baba and dhaga part) - it brought peace and serenity to an episode that generally lacked substance and creativity . Hassan: Good catch on the janmaz direction - it seemed odd, but maybe they needed to get the right angle for lighting or Meerab's glance after her dua (the glance was also a bit too choreographed).

The moment Amna said in last week's review that "passion mein slap chalta hai", I knew she will have to back track on this statement. Amna flips and gets carried away sometimes lool. It has become a pattern lowkey. Even Hassan was confused then . You guys gave makers a clean chit then. 7th Sky needs to get over their dhaaga hangover and slap addiction. It is so sad. Even Yumna and Wahaj fans felt upset with the slap but it has become that sequence which you just want to forget now. It was unnecessary and actually went against main leads' actions and reactions so far. Having said that Yumna and Wahaj nailed it completely in their scenes especially entailing the Dargah! Their chemistry is powerful. Read a comment which said the dhaaga scene is even more detrimental than the slap because it reinforces the biddah . That was the whole point. They wanted to show how society judges women. They didn't portray laila as a totally bechari and shareef girl. She admits that she did make mistakes. 1. Meerab was celebrating her 21st birthday, not 24th, 25th...
    2. The slap shouldn’t happen but first meerab said she'll slap him, then he slapped to stop her, sometimes only a slap can destroy your emotional outbreak & bring you in your senses, it’s not the issue of man or woman, so meerab is not really angry on him
    3. Meerab got senseless not for only slapping but also for smoke inhalation...
    Others point justified...
But murtasim is not toxic, overly battamiz ladki ko handle karte huye wo apni line se overstepped ho gya...

In that slap scene, meerub tells that thumhari wajah se meri aankh mein aansu hai..and that made murtasim more angry.Maybe he has some past related to that. After he was so regretful and it is clear that the slap was his impulsive reaction towards her words and it is not intentional. He didn't know what was happened with meerub till that moment. Based on only this slap,it is not right to say that murtasim is a toxic character ,we all know that he has some anger issues.Meerub got unconscious because she was already going through a big trauma and the slap was so powerful also. so its quiet normal to be unconscious after such physical attack when mentally not well, not because her character became weak.she still have that aggressiveness, self respect and all. Murtasim tells Maa beegum that "mere chahath dhi wo,wo aap sab ne milke cheenli". This conversation points out that something is happened with murtasim in past . Amna i think murtasim stopping her from running out made sense bcoz in the last episode when she drove and crashed he said something about her being his fiance and log kya kahenge in the hospital. So he was trying to stop her from that but then slapping her was so unnecessary.
I also don't agree with amna that she's a strong girl so she couldn't faint......there could be multiple reasons for her fainting she was in trauma and she had inhaled smoke few moments ago and all the shouting at her parents plus the denial it make a person weak at that moment and that slap was zannatedar, surprised her tympanic membrane was intact.

In tere bin they are trying to show intense hate to an extent that he really slaps her but are they going to show that kind of passionate love which requires some amount of physical proximity in pakistani shows there are hardly any scene between lead couple when you can't show passionate love why show senseless hate that slap ruined wahaj carecter completely can't take tere bin any more it could have been good but execution and poor writing ruined it

Violence should not be shown against cross gender at all. If a woman hits a woman, or a man hits a man, it’s a very different thing. If a family member like a parent hits you, it’s different. But when either the 2 genders are hitting each other it’s a dangerous trend to set and wrong.

Aik Thee Laila - The moment the mobile shop guy told inspector Sajid that Laila blackmailed him for 2 Lakh rupees, I sensed something was up. Because, Laila’s dost said that Laila needed 2 Lakh rupees because she was being blackmailed. The eerie coincidence felt odd: If Laila was blackmailing the shop guy, how can the friends story be true that Laila was being blackmailed 😅
One could sense that stories told by the characters were not aligning, there were some lies.
And then we heard Laila’s story and it made sense!

Even in either of those scenarios Amna gave, that slap wouldn't have been justified. Even when a woman is unfaithful, her husband is not allowed to hit her on the face, nor is he allowed to hit her in anyway it would hurt her. All he is allowed to do in such circumstances when all other efforts at reconciliation have failed is to tap her with a siwak (this would barely hurt). The sole purpose is to push her to self-reflect. If she doesn't change her ways even then, it's better to part ways than to resort to hitting one's wife.
In the case of Tere Bin, Meerub is not even Murtasim's wife yet. She is clearly seeing all the red flags and now this thappar. She wasn't shown to be some damsel in distress. Why would such a girl ever marry her abuser? The only reason I can think of is revenge.
If that is where this is leading up to, and they plan on condemning that slap in the episodes to come, it'll be fun and refreshing to watch. If not though, it's just another toxic Pakistani TV show and Yumna and Wahaj would fall from grace.

Tere Bin - If Anwar has such a regret now & feels so 'fatherly' towards Meerub now, then why can't he ask Waqas to give ber some closure? How are Anwar's emotions legit if he isn't even sensitive towards Meerub's emotions? That's a weak plot. If they had shown Anwar to be very aggressive & 'not to be messed with' (like his character from Khuda Aur Muhabbat as Iqra's brother), then this fiery swift of events could still make sense to me.

She confronted them and believed that she has every right to happiness. That’s where the difference is and I’m glad she didn’t end up with Sajid - in a normal drama she probably would’ve ended with sajid

adoption of child with secracy is very delicate topic : with ref to Tere bin production team picked good topic but they dont need slapping : they can show easily fainting due to nervous break down in his arms for showing softness for her :
secondly there is no need to show like star plus makeup and dressing : it is too unbelieveable that make up never disturbed in such intense emotional scenes : specially in charecters of bushra ansari, fazila qazi & these 2 girls like haya & her sister :

Express TV is releasing another one called Hum Dono which features Hira Mani and Ahsan Khan and the poster looks interesting, I hope you’ll review it when it releases. Then ARY is releasing one too called Sar e Rah, with Saba, Hareem, Muneeb, Saboor and the storylines look 👀 I’m glad at least they are now considering and taking the risk of making mini series. I saw Faysal’s interview and he said he thinks the year 2023 will see a 30% change in better content. He also mentioned how his next 2 projects will be hatke and the treatment will be very unique (more so like Netflix/Prime) than a typical Pakistani drama so I’m excited.

37:00 Do Hindus in Pakistan not speak Urdu? I find it difficult to believe that Hindus of Pakistan don't learn correct pronunciation from their environment.
I can understand a different dialect in Hindus from lower socioeconomic status if they live in Ghettos but that they would speak like those Indian Hindus who don't care about language as if a language is dependent on one's religion.
I am a bit saddened by some of the stereotypical expectations. I liked the way the Christian family of Khushboo was portrayed in Ehd-e-Wafa.

I am just glad that finally thr is a drama like KUCH ANKHAI which we can watch with family, sitting with your father, brother or even your kids u don't feel embarrassed. Because every drama is either toxic saas bahu, alpha possessive male manhandling the girl and hitting her and our innocent awaam calling it love, or extra marital affairs. But sadly, ppl wont appreciate something clean because Kuch Ankhai dont have the typical Masla which have been fed to our awaam neither it has big sets or dhoom dhamaka something clean and family oriented never get digested by our viewers the big example is ALIF and JO BICHAR GAYE, and ppl r already calling it boring bec thr is no filth in it
Tere Bin I was enjoying it its something away from reality and its been established u have to kill your brain cells to watch it but hitting just to sake for masala isn't ok ,hitting is not ok period WAHAJ AND yUMNA such a good and brilliant actors and its sad to see to be accepted in mainstream audience they have to do these roles just for ratings and views and this kind of stuff is getting ratings and views our audience mind don't want anything out of box and our stars have to get itno that box of Masala to be popular in mainstream hitting scene wether it was from Murtasim or if it was Meerub doing it I would have problem with both and the hitting epi u cans ee the views on it thats what our awaam appreciate which is pathetic it was unnecceary and it turn into a typical show .
