If you’re using a bottomless portafilter, then your brew time will depend on your grind size, so maybe go finer or more coarse to get desired extraction time
Do you have issues keeping the portafilter locked to the group head when extracting ? when i first bought my bottomless portafilter it was fine but now my dedica just blows the seals when i start it :((
What’s your setup for this coffee? I wanna make my espresso like yours too! What’s the water temperature and did you press single shot button for your 16g of coffee bean?
Yes there are a lot of portafilter and handle options out there. The little mesh disc is a puck screen that helps disperse the water evenly and also makes clean up a bit easier :)
Xeoleo 600N. It’s good if you’re willing to put in some time to modify it. To. Get the most out of it, you’ll need to upgrade the burrs, and calibrate it yourself, but overall, really nice grinder if you’re looking to get your first electric grinder :)
@@nickscoffeestudio thank you though as it is from AliExpress, if I understood you correctly, I would rather be thinking about the other grinder. You have the one old made before the old fellow grinder. I’m using the same machine as you are in this video do you think it can put me on a level of perfect espresso with the grinder?
This dude starts making his coffee in the morning and when all the prep is done it's already lunch time. Too many steps for me but as long as you enjoy your coffee, keep it up.
Hello. One question. Your machine stop automatically the shot; i save a shot with pressing button at 30 sec but the next shot with one press the button the machine doesn't shot for 30 sec. What i make fault;
It's completely down to your own preference... There's a couple of considerations. It depends on your basket firstly. You can have single or double baskets. This one is a double basket. Then it's down to the ratio. A 1:2 ratio is a good place to start - 16 grams of coffee to 32 grams of liquid out. If you had different basket, you could do a smaller, ristretto shot which would be say, 8 grams, and 16 grams of liquid out. Hope this helps!
@@nickscoffeestudio yes it does, thank you! Just pulled the trigger on a Dedica (885) and making espresso is just new to me. I like my longer moka shots, and even then, I usually use a 4 person moka pot for the 2 of us. I would have thought 18 g liquid is more of a ristretto than an espresso. I know the "standard" is 1:2 but then I would have to use 20g of beans, I like my 50 ml espresso. Or I think so. But then again, the automatic machine in my office might not be the greatest way of judging what an espresso should be. My main issue is that I have been using around 13 g ground coffee in my 2-person Bialetti for 1 shot for myself and I think doing 18 g with my dedica for myself would also mean a lot higher caffeine intake. I am trying to have a nice cup of coffee but with less caffeine. I'm guessing that won't happen if I switch over to proper espressos once the dedica arrives?
It’s called a puck screen. Originally the Flair 58 had one because the group head didn’t have a shower screen. But more and more people use them now for all machines to help disperse the water more evenly, and it also keeps your coffee from getting the shower screen dirty!
Very true! I’m not a barista by any means, and I’ll be going to a fully manual espresso machine very soon so I’m thinking of getting the Subminimal Nanofoamer to help with milk
I can get pretty good "foam" for a cappuccino from my Dedica 680, but have trouble getting properly steamed milk for a nice latte on a constant base (and I am not going to do a wand replacement to "fix" that)
Under normal circumstances, absolutely. With a 1 minute video limit, I think it can be left out 😂 though I do have plenty of videos where I do show warming it up
Do you know spouts are fragile and need care? You can bang on the body of th portafilter, tamp by putting the body on a flat surface, but please avoid damaging your spouts
@@JimJakubJames yeah the golden rule is between 25-30 seconds, so to get to your desired ratio, you’ll need to adjust your grind to control that flow :) but I’d also say coffee is all about your personal taste preference so you gotta play around yourself to find what you like best.
And here I am seeing it after ingesting dry instant coffee and then drinking a glass of water just to pull an all nighter secretly. Guys just understand my pain
Tip for instant coffee that makes it so much better: Put the instant coffee to a cup, put a little bit (just a few drops) of room temp water in and mix it so the coffee dissolves, then add the hot water. This will prevent the coffee from burning. If you have sugar in your coffee, same thing, but put the sugar in the cup as well and you may need a few more drops of room temp water. Mix it up so it becomes like a paste and then add hot water. You get a lovely foam if you do it right!
There’s always someone who points out the flaws. I do tend to preheat my portafilter since the group head on the Delonghi Dedica doesn’t heat up. But I hope you’ll excuse the omission of this one element on my very first TH-cam video, dude!

how is it pretentious lmao.. the dude likes their coffee and this is a ritual they do to make that experience more enjoyable and refined. sorry you don’t have any passion like this.
For the love of God,stop spraying the coffee beans whit water you will ruin the grinder,it will start to rust because the burrs are made of metal and the grinder will clog as well because of wet cofee beans. This trend is so dumb.
Before you preach about the supposed dangers of the RDT method, I’d suggest doing some research. The only possible concern here is if the burrs are untreated steel. A lot of grinders come with either stainless steel or titanium burrs, even ceramic. As we should know, these will not rust. In terms of clogging, keep your grinder clean and sacrifice a few beans to grind after each clean, grind them to coat the burrs with the natural coffee oils and there’ll be no issues at all. Additionally, corrosion is very unlikely when burrs are being used regularly as the grinding process is more likely to effectively polish the burrs.
