Easily one of the more surreal and creative games i've seen here. The music adds a lot to the atmosphere, and the gameplay elements with shrinking and shifting, open up a lot of neat and creative possibilities on top of the surreal level design.
Behemoth, the cat has the biggest mood in the whole of fractal reality. I love him.
Haha, yeah that cat is awesome. I like the way he's up-front about the fact that if you die, he'll eat you!
I think that's supposed to be a book reference. The only other cat named Behemoth I know of is a character in a Bulgakov novel. I wonder what the intention was.

it is character from The Master and Margarita, in book and in tv adaptation he is also absolutely legendary.
As someone who once played the violin, the first thing I noticed was that the bow certainly does not go there to play it.

I guess you technically could play on that side, but you'd be playing some experimental music at that point.

I think the character design and atmosphere are my favorite parts of this game.
Whoever made those mecanics about the "infinite" of reality Is a Genius.

I assumed ray marching at first, but I think it's done with portals and resizing the player's collision model. You can see at 5:45 when the cube is summoned and then held, it's as if it's repeated infinitely. I'd imagine something like that is used for infinite effects like that.

@@5555Jacker they combined ray marching and usual rasterization to make the whole thing work, and obviously yes the portals are a big part of how the game works
Wow, what a beautiful and worthy game here. I sure hope it gets fully developed. I love the theme of blowing the mind and the heart- piercing the realm of existential meaning with a fractal experience. I wonder if the afterlife is something alike to this fractal realm- just way more involved for man to fathom
I wonder if this Recursive Ruin is a kind of reflection of the kinds of traps all human beings eventually fall into when we don't ever wish to settle and continually strive to live meaningful lives. There are many pitfalls- circles of decisions and rationalizations that keep us trapped within our own fractals which we cannot perceive

I feel like the fractals and infinite recrusion here are a metaphor for him sort of folding in on himself- instead of taking new and old and releasing something new to the world, he's keeping the old and recreating the old, infinitely within his own head, which is why fractals seem to consume everything old from his life. it's telling what doesn't have symmetry (and thus infinite recursion) in his room- something his niece made, and himself.
Furthermore, fractals are funny- you can generate them mathematically, and their existence as "art" is at times tenuous. You can stretch and zoom them, and sometimes it is just a groovy pattern, something you put into a catalogue or on products, but not "art" in the same vein as a drawing of a wolf, or a person- no more inherent meaning than the endlessly repeating waveforms of cosmic static. But at the same time, what makes an artist an artist is the ability to look at something random, something formless, and derive form, and shape, and meaning from it.
I suppose some recent loss in his life has had him lose that creative spark, so all he just sees is endless patterns now.

The music is unbelievable. Compared with the visuals. Somehow they make a place seem like something you couldn’t even imagine in your own dimension and yet makes it feel like home somehow

Most people but not all, I WISH this was in VR..it's pretty spot on to certain psychedelic experiences.
Very much inspired by Manifold Garden. From the piano and ambiance, to the non-euclidean setting, this is very reminiscent of those ideas.
Man, this takes surreal to a whole new level.
To add some insight here: the poster in the protagonist's home for the album "Dark Ashes of Yggdrasil" is directly taken from Gustave Dore's "The Empyrean." This work was part of a series of plates commissioned for "The Divine Comedy," by Dante. This reference can be read as a precursor to this artist's own Divine Comedy. Within the fractal world is his journey through Heaven and Hell, and his home in the "real" feels like purgatory. Each artist must go through his own Divine Comedy in search of meaning
Reminds me of Manifold Gardens, my issue with that game was it was more of a tech demo than a proper game, it grew boring quickly. This, this has more interest and meat in it.

Truth is getting older now but as a teen I had no problem eating a "hero's dose" of shrooms and going to laser shows or just going out in the City with my friends trippin balls lol today however would still do some small to medium doses and just relaxing to some Pink Floyd music and videos

The Bismuth Cube Head gives me Houseki no Kuni vibes
visually its stunning and the part where it appears that the player is actually leaping into a fractal is really quite good. I look forward to watching the whole game get played , but I wont buy it , I got a lot of these games off Steam that I never played , but watching them get played is almost like watching a movie.

FEEDBACK:
First off, if the dev(s) find this comment. Already wishlisted this. May even stream it. Though there are two points I feel need to be worked on. First off, Elrich. I think he needs more animation to him at the very least. He just keeps pulling out that violin. For that matter, I'm kinda disappointed he doesn't actually play it. A guy with 2 hands on the frets is bound to make a unique sound.
Secondly, I don't think I understand the story, I mean, I get that it's supposed to be confusing and fragmentary by nature, but even when listening to Sioraiocht I feel like all the dialogue passed through my head. Not sure how to fix this though. Maybe give her a more clear and iconic voice? It could also just be that there's no indication of a resolution, you know? Nothing to really point us in a direction for our journey.
Good name. Neat concept. Now just make sure the puzzle design is strong and they’ll have a really nice game.

This looks amazing! The only thing is I think there still needs to be more ease in the mechanics. The concept, art, and story though? I'm already drawn to this and I can't wait for the full release!

I'm not sure if this is the type of game you want to play on drugs, or the type of game you DON'T want to play on drugs.
It's a game with strong influences from very PARTICULAR drugs of the tryptamine variety I'd say.

Does it exist a house like this, if many in belief of highest in the world(of their technology), if have a kind of big sci-fi technology facility-type of place then if a place like this(our home, our secret) will be cool right? But then the mixture sounds very temporary and like a bloodline hiving or ruling in secret, a group hiving maybe. Means life like a survivor anyway then in living together to be like this as a secret will be cool right? Because "this is just an island". The decision to be having "other in same awareness" is secret evidence of complete-stalking right? Knowing what we see(knowing our path due to suntricity defence to place stuff, change stuff but saying about it[knowing we 100% walk there as they pretend psychic{knower of future}]), what may be good to say or write at some point, "scripted stories" etc.
