    First of all, I'd like to say you're a life saver and literally the only video I found for the Moto Z Play, and your video was uploaded at the perfect time. Anyways, where would I get the adhesive displayed at 4:38?

    Great video, many thanks!
    My screen seems to be working fine after replacement as such, but sometimes after reboot, touchscreen is not working.
    Rebooting it once or twice (using power button) or factory reset seems to be helping. Do you have any suggestions? Could it be faulty connection or screen or could it be software issue as well?

      I'm also having an issue with the touchsceen which may be the same one you're having. It doesn't work unless I apply pressure to near the top of the screen with my thumb. There are several metal pads on the back of the screen in that area which need to make contact to the metal in the rest of the phone. The original screen came with small sticky metal adhesive pads which make the connection happen easier, however I'm unable to find more of them online. Hope this helps.

    So, if my phone works (I can hear notifications and it vibrates and I can shake it to turn on the flashlight and I can use Okay Google), but the screen is constantly in a black screen, is this what I replace?

  • @sassybaby2u
    @sassybaby2u 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks so much for this video. Quick question. I put the screen in with no problem but as I was getting it connected and ready to test, the phone started turning on by itself (or maybe I hit the button?) So it got about half way through the startup process and then the screen went blank. Nothing I do makes the screen come on again. Did I short something out or something? Now I cannot really tell if its powered on or off. Not sure what to do at this point. Is there a way to turn it off without being able to see the screen?

    Do you have any suggestions for other stickers or perhaps a tape of the appropriate thickness in order to compensate the replacement of the original adhesive that is at least twice thicker at the top and bottom compared to the sides? Cause I have serious doubts that a single sheet of 0.1mm adhesive you're selling will hold the screen in place like it should)

    • @EricWitrigs
      @EricWitrigs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi sir,The adhesive thickness is 0.25mm. we've tested the adhesive and it's stick enough to hold the screen tight.

    Hey I can't turn it off, the screen is black do I just wait? Also did it should it boot into factory mode, like in the video?

    The part linked in the description claims to be OEM. Are you sure of that? I've been through two of these so far with other sellers and you can tell these are a bit off. On each one, the flex cable design is different from the original (it has a grounding tab that appears to be designed to touch one of the RF shields on the board), the "moto" logo is too dark on the white version, the OLED display is grainy and blotchy at low brightness, and the anti-smudge coating is applied unevenly and has vertical bands running up the glass that reveal themselves when fingerprints get on it.
    Another thing: in this video, when you applied the pre-cut adhesive, did you run into problems with the sheet being about 0.5mm too long? I'm experiencing this with a couple sheets from one seller. The width of the sheets was spot on, but no matter what, either the top or bottom would just rest on top of the lip of the frame instead of inside it. If I made sure both the top and bottom fit inside the frame, the middle portion would arch up. I bought 10 more sheets from a different seller, but I have serious doubts those are going to be any different.

    Will this affect the data on the internal memory? I have one of these phones and have some important files on the internal memory that I didn't have a chance to back up before I accidentally shattered my screen.
    If I can fix the phone it will become my primary again, but at the end of the day I only really care about retrieving the data.

    • @ricardoolvera49
      @ricardoolvera49 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all, the screen and memory are not related at all, so changing the screen will not affect it.

    My moto zplay screen has gone all black but I can hear the phone working in the background.
    I applied some pressure to the top area and top corners of my screen for a little while and the screen seemed to work for a little while and now, even when I apply pressure on the screen, the screen is still black but phone still working.
    Do I have the same problem as in the video? Should I try to fix it myself like in the video(not a professional) or should I take it to a professional ?

    Good video, but the part that shows the application of the adhesive is confusing. I ordered the adhesive on EBAY. It came without instructions, so I tried to do what he did in the video, but the entire adhesive patch stuck to the phone! I was damn lucky to be able to peel off the inner section (Really stuck to the battery, etc!), leaving the adhesive perimeter. I obviously did something very wrong, but don't know how I could have done it differently. Anyway....It worked (unlike the double sided tape the screen repair place used the first time).

      @EricWitrigs  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. sir Look at the video where the adhesive needs to be removed.

    • @carlwilliams6977
      @carlwilliams6977 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 4:40? I've actually put the adhesive on a phone, it and that STILL doesn't make sense to me. You need to slow down and show what you are doing with the adhesive away from the phone. At the very least, instructions should come with the adhesive. It IS NOT an intuitive process!

      the home button sensor works, and from i can tell, everything else looks fine. I dropped it and cracked the screen. would that have damaged something that wouldn't let a new screen work properly? I bought the whole digitizer and followed these directions. The only difference is the seller said I'd have to disconnect then connect the battery again, which I did, to no avail.
