Totally, this is the perfect use for helmet cameras, for bullies in motor vehicles. I think it kept him honest when he passed me again a mile further on.
He wasn't standing still moments before, and it's a tremendous danger to other road users. Driving whilst on the phone isn't only illegal, it's about as bad as drink driving.
You're probably right. :) It's funny how people focus on the cycling thing, when it's a people thing. The other phone driving video was me filming from the pavement. I'd do it as a passenger in a car too.
Thank goodness a few of us are using the technology available to show these a-holes up. You may not be able to see a drunk driver but these guys are visible and just as dangerous. Anyone who calls people filming it names are obviously the same people we see every day doing it. It doesn't take much to work that out graemec.
That would be why some 500,000 people a year in the UK visit A&E because they fell over on street furniture whilst talking on the phone then? Really clever, driving with one. Do it in a company car, and if I see I will shop you to your transport manager and put you, the company, and the registration as searchable on youtube.
I dunno, I couldn't hear him because the cab was closed. I think it was some kind of "covering up for being on the phone whilst trying to keep on looking cool/funny". LOL!
Yes, I've worried about a bad driver with attitude doing something like that. In the actual event, though, this driver was cowed by having been filmed on camera, and later passed me with loads of room. I suspect most drivers wouldn't dare after they and their reg. no have been filmed. I *hate* drivers on the phone, and I will always shop them to their employers. See the recent story on BBC News about a driver who killed someone whilst using her phone? Google "Philippa Curtis bbc mobile".
I take it you also approve of drink driving, which isn't as dangerous as driving whilst on the phone according to one study. Better to get drink or phone drivers off the road before they kill someone, IMO.
That's because you're selfish and arrogant, and don't give a toss about anyone else. The evidence is very clear that talking on the phone is incredibly dangerous. Talking to a passenger is nothing like the same, and takes virtually no concentration by comparison with using a phone. I hope you never have to experience the pain of losing a family member in a car crash because some tosser was on the phone.

Got a convincing reply back from the company saying they would investigate and that phoning whilst driving was not company policy.

Holy crap, is that true?! That's hilarious. But deadly serious when you're controlling a tonne of metal.
He wasn't wearing a seatbelt either.

CBA, to be honest! I think there might be a valid one above the out of date one, anyway.
Bottom line is that he is breaking the law regardless.
He'll be first to whine and still unable to understand why he is being prosecuted.

Mike, have you got that vid date stamped?
Would be worth reporting him for driving a vehicle with out of date tax disk :P
