There was a whole titanomachia (the war between gods and titans) to decide which race would rule the cosmos. Even when the first goddess was born, Hestia, Kronos knew she was not the same as titans, which is one of the reasons he swallowed her, along with Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon, when they were born.
