14 years is a long time to own a vehicle. Happy to hear the FJ has treated you well all those years. Amazingly reliable rig. And I love the rear antenna wagging back and forth like a happy tail. Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Your FJ has never left you stranded…keep her till the wheels fall off. I love my FJ more than some friends and family. Whiskey in anything works for me, but definitely will have to try in lemonade. Great video. 🍻 cheers
Been watching your channel for a few months and every time I watch your videos, I don’t understand why you don’t have way more subs (I mean, I know why, because youtube is a cruel mistress...)
Our Voodoo Blue FJ keeps rolling on with the next generation as my son takes over from a friend that passed away. Keep up the fantastic work on these wonderful videos. 😎🚙⛰️
Good idea on taking the new vehicle out and shaking things out in stock form. As I've modified vehicles more and more, I've found that there is good reason for the way things are from the factory and that way more money was spent on the engineering and testing stock components than you could ever spend on aftermarket parts. Expensive aftermarket is expensive for the very same reason, engineering expenses and R&D.
Just started watching your channel recently and love it. I also have a voodoo blue FJ that has never left me stranded. I'm close to hitting 200k and she runs as well as ever. Cheers!
Thanks man! It should serve you well! I plan to replace the engine before 300k with a lower mileage set up, just to avoid any potential breakdowns. It’s been a great adventure wagon!
Just discovered your channel and subscribed! Please don't let the success ruin your amazing videos and commentaries. Longtime overlanders like Venture 4WD and Coyote Works lost their way and succumbed to their notoriety. They lost the soul of what got them started in the first place, and I left their stories in the delete pile. Stay humble. Stay appreciative of nature. Stay safe and always seek the horizon!
Thank you for saying that. I will do my best to stay on track! Some of my content will start to expand as soon as I can do this full time, but not in the way other youtubers do. I have big plans that will be very cool for everyone to see along the way!
Looked great fun, the vastness around there must be amazing. Absolutely nothing like that in the Uk 😊. We did live in the US for a few years Massachusetts while that evil pandemic was going on, so didn’t get too do all the stuff thought we may in that time. But on day will get back a explore some more, your dog is super chilled out we have a GSD that is a full on working line. Anyway really enjoy your videos just seem real life more than others, nice going go steady.
Beautiful video, thanks for sharing. Nothing beats the sense of freedom when jumping in the FJ and carving out a new path.. especially with a canine friend on your side.
Loved our FJ while we had it. so many family adventures. long distance and local yocal stuff. the go anywhere (I wanted it to) vehicle. Reliable. 4x4 trails river crossing, or costco trip for a months worth of food. kids to school, and a trip to the hills is a good daily routine. Miss it so much. sold it (huge profit for what we spent) bought a tesla Y. No regrets, but the Tesla cant do the 4x4 trails, sad, but hey no regrets, I plan to get another FJ soon. Rock on!. Great vid, thank you for sharing. -JM
Fun fact, my brother in law is a huge part of model Ys existence. He is a major part of the development of the alloy used to produce the back half of the vehicle and the alloy is even nicknamed after him internally. It’s made like die-cast toy car, which is pretty challenged to do due to the part being so large. Teslas are cool!
Awesome video man! I honestly look forward to every video you come out with. I love that you always have your dog with you. You truly have amazing content!
I'm a new subscriber and I just wanted to say your video was awesome. The drone shots, the night time lapse, great eye candy. Your partner is pretty cute too. Like the way her little tongue hangs out when she relaxes. Very enjoyable. I saw your video about the new Tacoma and decided to check some of your other videos out, glad I did.
I was on a 2 week trip, sorry for my late reply. Thank you for taking the time to check out my other videos. These are really where my hearts at for video production. Thank you!
Love it bro. Epic night footage. 🙌🤙 A shakedown is essential before an expedition, so true. As is just another excuse to head out and go camping. 😆👊 Is that a SuperPro rear sway?
No sir that’s from Icon. They no long make it, but was necessary for this particular Diamond axle since the inspection hole is sort of in the way. I just painted the bar to look fancy!
@@IndependenceOverland gotcha. I’ve been thinkin’ about going with maybe the Apache one. It’s a little more 🥩. I’ll be interested to see what fits and what doesn’t though during the axle swap so we’ll see I guess. Lol. 🤞😬
Great content. Feels like sitting by the campfire with you. It seems you have said goodby to the FJ. You carry a lot of stuff and the FJ seems heavy loaden. Do not get bigger for more overkill. You will turn around one time and get lighter/smaller. I do not know any vehicle on the sweetspot of capability/reliability/lightweight. But maybe one can tell me
I don’t need more room for more camping gear, I’m set as far as that goes. I need more space so all that same gear isn’t in a huge stack. Getting to my camera gear easier is what I’m aiming for.
I absolutely love the stuff. I’m drinking unflavored black cold brew as I type this, so I’m happy either way but I like having a fun flavor while camping.
Fluids changed? Do you carry a spare serpentine belt? I always keep one for my higher mileage vehicles. If that guy breaks, you are dead in the water, especially when by yourself.
Please, dont sell it. Save it for a youngin that you want to pass it down to. Its a classic. I know its going to someone else so its not like its getting lost forever lol but its yours ya know. Got that Tin Cup! My guy.
Thanks Paul! I am using a lens filter for those shots, it does a pretty decent job simulating an anamorphic! I thought it would look cool for nighttime shots sometimes!
@@IndependenceOverland it looks awesome man! I hope A7siii updates the firmware with anamorphic desqueeze! It’d be fun to shoot with those Sirui lenses!
Something with room for camera stuff. That’s my biggest challenge right now. But I don’t want to announce what I’m looking into, because I tend to change my mind a lot.
HEST. Its double covered, waterproof on the bottom, insulated due to the foam, and rolls up really nice and compact when needed. I love HEST stuff. I will be doing some dog travel stuff soon and will dive into it further. bit.ly/3oVaPsz
Bueno aquí tienes un nuevo suscriptor y espero un dia salir con uno compañero que sepa mas para que me pueda giar porque soy nuevo pero anelo una ventura asi como tu ya que tengo una hermosa azul como la que tienes.
Keep the fj no matter what is an icon even if you drive it on the weekends or keep it on the family beautiful capable machine
Thanks Oscar! It’s sticking around!

Great Spring shake down trip.
Thank you for checking it out!
Quick tip to check if anyone is heading your way is to do a call out on the radio (on the channel that’s most used by 4x4s in your area).

very soothing and beautiful video!
Thanks buddy!
LX570. Plenty of room, but not too big for trails. Get a stock one, add what you need for overlanding. Land Cruiser bones, but not too scarce.
Great Spring shake down trip. You can definitely get one more season out of that trusty steed. Looking forward to seeing your new ride.
She just keeps on ticking! Tried and true! The next one will be a fun new adventure though!
My daughter has a Voodu Blue FJ. I show her yours to see what hers could be like but she’s young and broke 😂
Haha yeah it took a looooong time to get it this way. I bought it when I was young and broke!
Beautiful video as always. Your friend in Pennsylvania. Bob Thanks for posting.
Thank you for tuning in Robert, I really appreciate it!
Can’t wait for next time.

What a great camp spot and another amazing video. Thx Tyler. 😎
Thanks for watching it buddy!!
My FJ has 257865 miles on it. Like you every time I go out on the trails I hear new noises. I ask myself how much longer will it last.
Yeah, they are tough but nothing lasts forever!
Why do lemonade and ice .... cuz you can! (oooo, blueberries to) ... nice. .... a waffle iron! What a KILLER idea
In the desert it’s hard to beat blended lemonaid!
Another epic video! I can't wait to see the Arkansas videos!
It’s gonna be an awesome one!
Superior cinematography Tyler…really enjoyed this one!
Thank you for checking it out Dave! The next one is going to be really fun!
Excellent job on this video. Gotta get my FJ up to speed like yours.
No time like the present! 😃

Bones is cool, we had a friend send a half dozen different flavors to us once to try. If you’re into flavored beans, this is the way.
I absolutely love the stuff. I’m drinking unflavored black cold brew as I type this, so I’m happy either way but I like having a fun flavor while camping.
Great video brother
Thanks buddy for taking the time!
Good stuff bro
Thank you Rick!
What do you do at camp when not filming? Read? Kickback? Explore?
Fishing, trying to catch critters, playing with the dog, cooking. That pretty much takes all my time up.
Good trip great camp spot. When are you headed to Arkansas. Are you doing the Ozark Overland Adventure Trail?
I’m editing the footage now! We didn’t do a specific trail, but we did end up on part of the OOAT by total accident.
Fluids changed? Do you carry a spare serpentine belt? I always keep one for my higher mileage vehicles. If that guy breaks, you are dead in the water, especially when by yourself.
Fluids changed and yes I carry a spare belt. It’s such a simple failure point it’s always smart to have one!
The legendary TOYOTA FJ Cruiser.
It’s a pretty awesome vehicle!
Please, dont sell it. Save it for a youngin that you want to pass it down to. Its a classic. I know its going to someone else so its not like its getting lost forever lol but its yours ya know.
Got that Tin Cup! My guy.
Yeah I’m keeping it!
Can’t go wrong with Tin cup! It’s my go to camping whiskey!
I am so excited every time you post dude! The cinematography/narration is so good! Did you get an anamorphic lens? Intro shots are sick!!
Thanks Paul! I am using a lens filter for those shots, it does a pretty decent job simulating an anamorphic! I thought it would look cool for nighttime shots sometimes!

Hello, Hey Im from Mexico. love your Video, so inspiring..What king of Camara video System you have? Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Juan! I am using the Sony A7siii, Mavic 3 drone, and some Gopros
so what's your next ride then? what can compete?
Something with room for camera stuff. That’s my biggest challenge right now. But I don’t want to announce what I’m looking into, because I tend to change my mind a lot.
I love my Tacoma but God did this video make me miss my FJ.
Thanks for watching bud!
I don’t know but if u go to a truck u probably will miss the shorter wheel base the fj has.
Igot a 2022 cement gray this thing is life time car
What mount is that for your radio antenna, where it attaches to your brush bar?
It’s just a generic tube mount and a bracket I built
Get you the 4Runner
It’s almost the same vehicle, mechanically.
Don't sale it, you 'll regretted .
I have mine for 13 years now and is in Europe now , it will go where I go.
I will not be selling it! Unless I someday have a 70 series, the Fj will be around.
@@IndependenceOverland I enjoin every video.
Thank you
Nice video and spot. Rig is sweet. I do wonder how "overweight" it is those with all the gear you carry? I would bet 300-500lbs easy
Oh she’s heavy alright! That’s a lot of the reason why I got the beefed up axle in the rear.
Is that off Rabbit Valley?
🤫
What bumper do you have?
That is the Expedition One Kodiak
What dog bed is that?
HEST. Its double covered, waterproof on the bottom, insulated due to the foam, and rolls up really nice and compact when needed. I love HEST stuff. I will be doing some dog travel stuff soon and will dive into it further. bit.ly/3oVaPsz
@@IndependenceOverland great thanks. Can’t wait to see those videos. My dog is a lot like your just laid back and loves to curl up in a chair.
Sub'ed
Thanks man!
Calling it he's gonna get the new trailhunter, that or the new land cruiser but my money is on trailhunter
🫣
don't sell it, just rebuild it..
Not selling, and not rebuilding (yet)
Get the GX while it still has a V8.
I’ve certainly looked into it. My suspension parts would bolt right on.

I’m telling you… 🤣
