My wife and I absolutely love the mountains in the north Maine woods. We stayed at the Abol bridge campground in 2019 with my brother and his wife. One of the best vacations we’ve ever had.
Great video, amazing footage. Just subscribed. I'm planing to do a 4 day overland in the North Maine Woods this summer. Your video has me even more excited. I've hiked all of the AT in Maine and summited Kathadin twice.
Thank you for your support 👊 the North Maine Woods has been my favorite place to overland on the East Coast so far. There is an endless amount of area to roam. I definitely want to go back and summit Khatadin.
Great content, great video. As a lifelong Mainer I can say you captured the state wonderfully. Two suggestions for your next trip (we always come back up here)… - buy a Maine Atlas and Gazetteer…. It is a wonderful resource… - check out the area of the ghost trains near Eagle and chamberlain lakes. I highly recommend the campground at the Caucomgomoc Dam - it’s intensely primitive, a trip to get to and incredibly scenic. Subscribed.
Nice FJ👍 working on getting my 60series back on the road by the end of the year. Also the family and I are heading up for pur yearly trip to the NMW in a couple weeks. Fantastic place
@@OutboundIntent there's so much to see and do since it's a giant place lol. I think if you're gonna camp, Leadbetter Falls site is probably the best one for a first time stay over. We are going to try Big Bog this year but we've stayed in a few others so far. Honestly most the sites are excellent so you can't go wrong with any really. Lost Pond site is good and has a sweet little trail to get into. Def need 4x4 for that one. But I do most my exploring during partridge season. We end up riding the roads looking for birds. Grab the Gazeteer and just go lol.
Great video, I love Maine! We go up to Cupsuptic Lake in Rangeley every summer, they have some great remote campsites, absolutely stunning landscape in that area. What's the name of the campground near Mt Katahdin that you guys stayed at? I've been working on planning a North Maine Woods trip and go further north and that looks like a great stop. Also, very nice editing!
Sounds like a sick trip! That is Abol Bridge Campground on the outskirts of Baxter State Park and was the final day on our trip because it allowed for us to quickly leave and hit the road the following day! Thanks for watching!
Did you map this trip on OnX? I live in CT and want to take a similar long-weekend trip in October with some friends. I know nothing about Maine, I feel like this would be a good baseline lol
Hi there, I’m just getting into overlanding and looking to my first trip to the North Maine Woods. Would you say this place is not crowded? What time of year would you recommend visiting? I live in New England and plan on going here often.
I have my RTT mounted just like you do, but how in the heck did you mount your awning? What mounts gave you enough clearance from the tent? I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks.
Great question! I used the L brackets from the awning mount and put those under the tent mounting points. So technically that side sits up a little higher but you wouldn’t notice it… the biggest con is that it’s a lot of weight sitting up there.
The Maine Woods are private property and we are indebted to the owners that they allow us to enjoy it. Next time, check at the gate about cutting their live trees, leave that chain saw home.
@@mikebarney5310 It was brush they thinned out. I live in Maine, spend a week every year on the logging roads from the Northern Road all the way to Clayton Lake. Sometimes you do what you need to. Thinning brush on an old road is far different from felling trees.
Probably the best FJ video that I've ever watched. Content and editing are fantastic.
Thank you! More on the way 👊🏼
Another great video of North Maine Woods. 😊
I came here for the FJ and stayed for the views. Absolutely sensational. What amazing memories you’re making man.
Thank you that means a ton! Just posted a second trip that I did recently
The fact you and your dad are out there making memories, keep up the great work..
I feel very blessed to make these memories, thanks for watching!

Definitely a beautiful place, I need to make it back soon!
I live in central Maine and am taking delivery of my FJ next week. I see myself making these trips often.
Heck yeah you are very fortunate to be living in that area! One of my favorite remote areas in the east
Love the edit dude. Here's to next time!
Absolutely, can't wait!
I'd love to hear more about the turbo diesel XJ.
Great memories were made 🏕️

I stayed at that exact site in abol about 4 or 5 years ago. Love that place
Cool adventure Amigo
The start of many, thanks for watching 👊
Awesome video. Keep going. Greetings from Germany mate
Thanks for watching 👊
Sick FJ! new sub here in pa your videos deff help my decision on picking up an fj this week. 🤘🤘
No way man good to hear! What color?
Keep tire chains in the fj in the winter time if you off-road. It doesn't hurt to have that as a back up. Great video by the way. I love my fj too!
the look of a tough-revved FJ makes me hanker ardently to own one in the offing . . .
Great show.. it made me homesick for Maine.. The sound volume kept going up and down making it hard to watch this video.

Man that is awesome! Any cool spots you would be willing to share with me? I want to head up again shortly

New sub 🇨🇦🍻
Thanks for joining 👊
Do you have a link for those head lights? Great videos
Cool video makes me want to take my FJ into Maine... Your voice gets lost in the background music somewhat.
Thanks for watching! I can definitely agree with that... I am working on improving my voiceovers as a whole
Keystone carry!
Indeed it is haha

What lake did you camp on? That was an epic location!
I believe it was Cuagomac Lake, for most of the season it’s probably unable to be camped on because the water is too high. We just got lucky!
Just got a 2014 FJ and am stoked! What model of tent is on your FJ?
Awesome! That is a smittybilt overlander Gen 2 xl
fj all day. never been a jeep guy. and what camera do you use?
In this video, a Sony A7III and an R6 was used. Now I just use an R6!
@@OutboundIntent nice. quality looks real good
How are you liking the FJ with no fender flares? Any issues with rocks hitting the body, etc?
Love the look and honestly there is most likely slightly more rock chips but nothing too crazy haha
How much did the FJ have to refuel compared to the mighty 617?
Great trip folks! Great State of Maine awesome footage guys thanks for sharing Good Stuff 👍 👍🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸
The Vermonter and Legal American!!
Thank you! More to come 👊
Great video.
Question. Have you replaced your needle bearing in your front diff??
Nope, haven’t needed to yet. Why?
@@OutboundIntent I was just curious if yours needed it. I just replaced mine. I noticed a vibration after the lift.

Thank you sir 👊
If only a Fj cruiser with 150k miles wasn't 40k. I want a new one so bad tooooooooo
Yeah it really sucks for anyone wanting to get into an FJ right now 😬
I'm looking at a 07 with 172k miles, and they want 14k, trading my platinum tundra for it.
what suspension sir?
1.9 tdi in jeep?
Nope Mercedes 617, check out @turbodieselxj on instagram and youtube for more info 👊

No live trees were cut, chainsaws are a necessity when that remote as fallen trees may be needed to be cut out of the way
9:44 on your video, clearing the trail.
@mikebarney5310 clearing a marked trail that has weedy brush on it is not cutting live trees

You cant do all this trip in a 2 wheel drive truck...I've done it!
Doesn't make it a good idea..and those roads are different every time.
You can do this trip in a 2whewl drive work truck..just make sure your prepared..yrust.me.ive done it!!love Northaine woods!
